Get the first look (albeit a very brief one), at the villainous dragon Smaug in this new TV spot from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness) plays the dragon via the magic of CG, with Martin Freeman as the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins and Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey. Richard Armitage, Ian Holm, Andy Serkis, Graham McTavish, Hugo Weaving (Cloud Atlas), Luke Evans, and Cate Blanchett also star.

The films, which serve as a prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, are based on the book by J.R.R. Tolkien and will be released in three parts: An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, and There and Back Again. Director Peter Jackson shot the first two films concurrently.

An Unexpected Journey will hit theaters December 14. Before then, have a look at this poster highlighting The Hobbit dwarves.

Movie Fanatic's Top 100 Films of All Time: 90-81

Last week we launched the countdown of our list of the Top 100 films of All Time, with #100-91. Now, we bring you  #90-81! Check back with us every Monday as we release our next groups of ten, leading up to the best film of all time (well, as we see it at least)!

Scroll down to read the list, and let us know what you think in the comments section at the bottom!

Top 100 Films of All Time

90. Misery
An author, played by James Caan is held captive by a crazed fan who rescues him from a car wreck in this psychological horror classic from Rob Reiner. Kathy Bates gave an Oscar-winning performance as the subtly psychotic nurse Annie Wilkes, in one could easily be called one of the best horror films of all time. Check out our Misery quotes page for more.

89.Chungking Express
Hong Kong cinema’s first entry in the Movie Fanatic Top 100 of All-Time is an astounding story of two cops hopelessly lost in a love that may or may not end well. The film is glorious to watch, with its rich colors and capturing of motion. Chungking Express follows the two policemen in parallel storylines and director Wong Kar Wai masterfully weaves between the two. Be sure to visit our Chungking Express quotes page.

88. Midnight Cowboy
Jon Voight stars as a naive cowboy-turned male prostitute in his first major film role. Midnight Cowboy paired Voight with a fresh-off-The Graduate Dustin Hoffman as the sickly con man Ratso Rizzo. The John Schlesinger film was the first X-rated film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, which is a testament to its brilliance (the rating has since been changed to R). Head to our Midnight Cowboy quotes page for more.

Rocky Poster

87. Rocky
The film Rocky is itself a David and Goliath story in that it was a small little movie, written by a little known actor named Sylvester Stallone that would go on to win the performer an Oscar for Best Picture and a nomination for Best Screenplay. Sure, sequels would come and go, but there is nothing like witnessing Rocky when he was visiting Adrian in that pet shop with as innocent as a romance as we’ve seen since or before. And who cannot well up at the end of the film when he achieves the impossible as Rocky takes the microphone and says, “Adrian, we did it!” Oh yeah, that Bill Conti score doesn’t hurt either! The film also produced its share of timeless Rocky quotes.

86. Amadeus
This oft-referenced 90's classic tells the story of the brash and arrogant Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and his peer-turned-secret-rival Salieri. Brilliantly akin on the themes of art, inspiration, and jealousy, the Oscar-winner received eight nominations in total. F. Murray Abraham and Tom Hulce star, with celebrated filmmaker Milos Forman directing. Head to our Amadeus quotes page for more.

85. Sunset Blvd.
Billy Wilder makes another appearance on the Movie Fanatic Top 100 with his 1950 masterpiece, Sunset Blvd. It is a classic tale of changing times and how that shift is seen and felt in Hollywood. Stars that were enormous during the silent era are still around, although most had not worked in years. We meet Norma Desmond, as played by Gloria Swanson, a star whose power has been dimming for years now. Sunset Blvd. expertly shows how change and specifically aging is difficult, particularly in a town known for celebrating the young. How real is the feel of the film? A true Hollywood original makes a cameo, Cecil B. DeMille… and it gives us one of many iconic Sunset Blvd. quotes. “I’m ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille."

84. The Sting
The Sting featured two of movie audiences’ favorite performers, Robert Redford and Paul Newman, in the same film (and not for the only time...stay tuned for maybe another one somewhere further up the list...wink wink)! The 1973 movie follows two 1930’s con men as they seek to simultaneously get revenge for their murdered partner while robbing the evil banker who had the guy killed. Not only was a crime caper that is as relevant today as it was in the early 1970’s, it also gave Ragtime icon Scott Joplin a visibility boost thanks to the film’s use of the song The Entertainer. Head to our The Sting quotes page for more.

Easy Rider Poster

83. Easy Rider
The movie that defined the counterculture of the 1960’s, Easy Riser was Dennis Hopper’s baby and the actor/director/writer permanently put himself on the legends of cinema map with his 1969 work. It’s easy to think back on the flower power decade as one of peace, love and happiness. But, for hippies and those seeking a different way of life than the typical Norman Rockwell America, it was a difficult road marked by prejudice and, as seen in Easy Rider, outright violence. Can’t get enough of this film? Don’t miss our Easy Rider quotes.

82. Pi
Darren Aronofsky burst onto the scene with his first major film. The directed who would later go on to helm Requiem for a Dream, the Wrestler, and Black Swan, established his signature themes of obsession and self-destruction in this darkly disturbing tale of a number theorist seeking a key to the patterns of nature. Check out our Pi quotes page for more.

81. Some Like it Hot
For many, and Movie Fanatic is one, Some Like it Hot is the quintessential Marilyn Monroe movie. Yet it is the witnessing of movie icons Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon in drag that makes this film memorable. Directed by Tinseltown legend Billy Wilder, Some Like it Hot is as classic a comedy as Hollywood makes. Curtis and Lemmon’s musicians witness a mob hit and must go incognito as part of an all girl band that also features Monroe. The movie is hilarious, has great musical numbers and best of all… stands the test of time. Check out our Some Like it Hot quotes.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Casting News: Dane DeHaan Will Play Harry Osborn!

$

0

Last month we reported that Sam Claflin was among four potential actors who screen tested to play Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Well, he didn't get the part, but one of the other guys who tested, Dane DeHaan, did!

Chronicle Star Dane DeHaan

The young DeHaan is best known for his role in Chronicle earlier this year. He also appeared recently in both Lawless and Lincoln.

The role of Osborn was played by James Franco (Oz: The Great and Powerful) in the Sam Raimi series, and they've decided to maintain the "dark and edgy" feel for the character in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, despite early reports that they were looking for a more sprightly athletic type. Osborn is the son of Norman Osborn, aka the Green Goblin, who begins as Peter Parker's friend but turns into a villain.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for a May 2, 2014 release. Marc Webb will once again direct, with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone reprising their roles.

Star Wars Episode VII: George Lucas Clarifies His Role

Plans have been moving quickly forward to get all the pieces in place for the upcoming Star Wars sequels. Michael Arndt will write Episode 7, with Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg penning some kind of future installments (whether they be Episodes 8 and 9, or character films, we're still not sure).

We've also learned that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill may return for the first film in the new series, and that Matthew Vaughn seems pretty well-poised as the front-runner to direct.

So, okay, that's all well and good. But what about the god of the Star Wars universe, His Holiness High Lord Sir Jedi-Master George Jacob Jingleheimer Lucas? From the moment of the announcement that Disney had bought Lucasfilm, Lucas has insisted he will simply "consult" for the new franchise.

George Lucas Pic

Clarifying his role, Lucas toldAccess Hollywood that he will basically be a human Star Wars encyclopedia. Sure, there are probably more franchise guides and bibles and 'pedias out there than could fill a Death Star, but Lucas is the main man real deal source of all the knowledge. Lucas described it thusly: "I can say, ‘This is this and this is that.' Basically...I don’t really have much to do.”

So don't count on Lucas having much in the way of story approval. But if Arndt needs to know a thing or two about a Wookiee, Lucas will be there to lend a hand.

For what it's worth, Lucas also stated that he doesn't think his good friend and Lincoln director Steven Spielberg would ever be interested in helming a Star Wars movie.

Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs: First Photo from jOBS

Yes, some people had some issues with the announcement that star of The Butterfly Effect, Ashton Kutcher, would portray the beloved entrepreneur, tech innovator, and Apple Founder/CEO Steve Jobs. But with the release of the first official photo from the film, one has to give props to the likeness. They pretty much nailed it.

Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs in jOBS

jOBS, whose title is sort of stylized in the "iPhone/iPod/iMac" manner, but not really, is one of two Steve Jobs biopics currently in the works. The film will look at Jobs' career over the span of thirty years, with Josh Gad as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

The other film, simply titled Steve Jobs, is being developed by Aaron Sorkin, who has had a string of success with biopics in recent years, including The Social Network and Moneyball. Sorkin recently said that his film will be comprised of three vignettes highlighting important moments from Jobs' life.

But while Sorkin's film is still being written, jOBS will premiere as the closing-night film at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27, 2013.

Les Miserables Drops Two New TV Spots: The Most Loved Musical of All Time

While most of the Les Miserables promo material has been a lot of the same footage, each one usually offers a little snippet of a new scene or new song. They're playing hard to get, I'm on to their games. These two new TV Spots are no different:

Hugh Jackman (The Wolverine) stars a Jean Valjean, a paroled Frenchman on the run from his pursuer, Inspector Javert, played by Russell Crowe (Man of Steel), culminating in the 1832 June Rebellion in Paris. Amanda Seyfried plays Cosette, with Anne Hathaway as Fantine.

Eddie Redmayne, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Samantha Barks also star.

Tom Hooper directs the film, which opens Christmas day. Check out this Amanda Seyfried Les Miserables poster for more.

Eddie Murphy Lands Atop Forbes' Top 10 Overpaid Actors List

Regular folk like you and I may not realize just how much of a film's budget can be devoted to landing a big-name actor to give the billboard some star-power. But that investment does not always produce the desired returns. Forbes has released its annual list of the most overpaid actors, calculating a film's gross versus the star's salary, for their last three films over the last three years.

At the very top of the list is Eddie Murphy. The comedic actor who enjoyed loads of success in the 1980s with films like Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, and Coming to America, has produced a string of flops lately, despite his enormous star power. Murphy's last three films earned studios only $2.30 for every dollar he was paid.

Second on the list is the moderately-maligned queen of rom-com, Katherine Heigl, whose last film, One for the Money, earned just $37 million on a budget of $40 million. Heigl's last three films grossed just $3.40 for every dollar she was paid.

Check out the full of the top 10 most overpaid actors below.

Eddie Murphy Pictures

1. Eddie Murphy: $2.30 film gross per $1 paid.
2. Katherine Heigl: $3.40 film gross per $1 paid.
3. Reese Witherspoon: $3.90 film gross per $1 paid.
4. Sandra Bullock: $5 film gross per $1 paid.
5. Jack Black: $5.20 film gross per $1 paid.
6. Nicolas Cage: $6 film gross per $1 paid
7. Adam Sandler: $6.30 film gross per $1 paid.

The Dark Knight Rises Blu-Ray: Exclusive First Look!

Movie Fanatic headed to Burbank and Warner Bros. Home Video headquarters for an exclusive presentation for The Dark Knight Rises Blu-Ray and its astounding second-screen app as the film lands on home video today!

The Dark Knight Rises Logo
We met Jonathan Gaines, executive director of special features for Warner Bros. and executive director of creative services, Donnie Roache, who both took us behind the magic. Considering this is the final chapter of the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight series, the team here at Warner Bros. has outdone themselves with their latest Blu-Ray.

The second screen app is available on iTunes and once it’s downloaded and your Blu-Ray is synched to your second screen device, whether it iPad, iPhone, tablet or Android based smart phone, The Dark Knight Rises movie experience takes on several new dimensions. “It works nicely on an iPad because of the hi-res photos,” Gaines admitted as he showed off the hi-res images of Bane that are mind-blowing.

Gaines then introduced us to the index to all the content that is in the app, even a few that are exclusive only to the app. The timeline bar on the second screen keeps your interactive experience congruent as the main screen tells Nolan’s story in full. “As the movie progresses, so too does the timeline,” Gaines said. “Photos, trivia, video, profiles… and it automatically keeps updating as the movie progresses.”

Since we marveled at the photo of Tom Hardy as Bane, Gaines and Roache are delighted with the main screen first appearance of our Dark Knight Rises bad guy. The legendary opening of the movie sequence with Bane escaping a high-in-the-air aircraft, gives an example of the multitude of depths one can go into the filming of that scene and much more. First, we visit the Bane main page.

“It has a lot more information regarding this character. For example, there are much more than high-res images galleries,” Roache said. There are production galleries as well as pre-production galleries too. “It also shows you how all the content is related to the character,” Roache said. “For example, if I want to know more about Bane’s lair, I can go right there.”

Boom, we’re in Bane’s lair!

The Dark Knight Rises Bane's Lair
“This is truly secret content,” Gaines exclusively admitted. “By just owning the Blu-Ray you won’t get to this. Just owning the app, you won’t get to this. When you synch the two together, that’s when the whole process goes to a whole new level of interactivity.”

One of the most striking aspects of the app and Blu-Ray synching is the storyboards that one can view on your device while simultaneously watching the scene that was storyboarded as it plays out. “It’s really cool to see that storyboard synched to the scene you’re witnessing,” Roache said.

For example, in the airplane scene at the beginning of the movie we just mentioned, we stepped away from the film and what was revealed was a video featurette of director Nolan talking about pushing the envelope by using real locales and shying away from green screen for certain sequences. It gives us that breathtaking aerial scene.

“People think it was done with a lot of visual effects,” Nolan said. “But much more than people realize, it was done for real.”

One of the impressive aspects of the second screen app for this longtime fan was the link and connection to DC Comics. “They are a tremendous resource,” Gaines said. “We go back to DC a lot for information. We have a strong relationship with DC, they are always happy to help us with any DC property that we work on.”

Roache and Gaines stress that the app allows the audience member to go as deep or shallow into the experience as one chooses. “You’ve got the flexibility to digest this content in synch mode or with a free-form at your leisure opportunities,” Roache said.

The Dark Knight Rises Batman
“The beauty of this is that for people who want to go really deep, they can,” Gaines added. “People can also prop it up on their coffee table and let it flow by -- it doesn’t have to be cumbersome.”

To accomplish their extraordinary feat of home video excellence, Gaines and Roache’s team got involved with Nolan and his team from the initial planning process for the theatrical release. “We start on the special features side as the movie is going into production. We’ll read the script. We’ll talk to the filmmakers about what’s exciting and what should be highlighted and covered. And as the movie is progressing and we can finally see it, we can hone our concepts,” Roache said.

"On the app front we start initial concepts and designs probably at least eight months before the movie opened in theaters.”

They work cohesively with both the director Nolan and his screenwriter brother Jonathan. “We work very closely with the Nolans on this. They are very involved in everything you see here,” Roache said.

Even though they begin their process as the film swings into production, the duo admit there is never enough time. It just proves that there are boundless things Blu-Ray aficionados can expect as time progresses and technology grows. But they stress that they will only provide material for bonus features and future second screen apps if they fit the story and standout as enhancing the movie experience.

“We look for stuff that will be of interested to casual consumer and fan, but also go through the material based on the other criteria for those that are hardcore fans. There is a constant dialogue with the filmmakers about what they want to share,” Roache said. “It’s important for us that the content has a unique point of view. In these apps we always look for content that will work well within this platform of the touch environment. Images work well, and on Blu-Rays, it has become pretty static and flat. Now images come to life in a whole new fresh way."

You may or may not have noticed, but Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming sci-fi action film Pacific Rim hasn't been released yet. In the land of movie sequels, however, that doesn't really matter!

Yes, a full 8 months before the film hits theaters, Heat Vision has announced that screenwriter Travis Beacham will co-write the Pacific Rim sequel with Del Toro. It is unclear as of yet whether Del Toro will return to direct, as he recently committed to the horror film Crimson Peak, but production on PR2 is expected to begin at the beginning of 2014.

Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi Pacific Rim

No plot details are available for the sequel, nor will they likely be for some time, though we do know what the first film will be about. When an army of giant monsters arises from the sea, a fleet of robots, powered by human minds, is deployed to defend humanity. At the brink of destruction, with the robot fleet failing, a pilot and a trainee, played by Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi, must pull a legendary but obsolete robot out of retirement as mankind's last hope.

Idris Elba (Thor: The Dark World), Ron Perlman, and Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses) also star. Pacific Rim opens July 12, 2013.

In the meantime, the two companies have also reached an agreement that will kick off very shortly, bringing the some of the most beloved Disney Princesses and other films in the Disney catalog to Netflix Instant, including Dumbo, Pocahontas, and Alice in Wonderland. The deal replaces one that Disney previously had with the Starz network.

DVD/Blu-Ray Preview: Dark Knight Rises, Finding Nemo & More

There is one title that stands legions above all others this week with our Movie Fanatic Blu-Ray/DVD preview. The Dark Knight Rises premieres as the final chapter in the Christopher Nolan trilogy comes home with a bevy of extras that are sure to marvel huge and small fans alike. The Oscar buzzing Beasts of the Southern Wild arrives on home video in hopes of gathering even more attention for its award season run. And a Pixar-Disney classic, Finding Nemo, lands on Blu-Ray in ways we've never seen.

The Dark Knight Rises: It's a happy day for Batman fans, but there is also a tad of sorrow because now that The Dark Knight Rises is out on Blu-Ray Combo Pack, DVD and for download, we will never see Christian Bale don the bat suit ever again. With the extras-heavy release of the film, fans of DC Comics' Caped Crusader can keep themselves occupied for weeks to come with all there is to go through.

First up, for those who have an iPad or iPhone 5, the second screen app that's available to synch with the Blu-Ray is simply astounding. For more, check out our exclusive The Dark Knight Rises Blu-Ray report. For the rest of us without a second screen, the Blu-Ray and DVD extras astound and take you further into the creative genius that is Nolan. Movie Fanatic treasured the documentary The Batmobile, which looks at the five major automobiles that our hero has used over the years.

Then, there's the Nolan-supervised documentary series Ending the Knight. That is highlighted by a look at the making of the film's prologue where Bane escapes from an airplane in mid-flight and what will prove to be an iconic scene, the destruction of the Gotham stadium during a football game.

Beasts of the Southern Wild: With our Beasts of the Southern Wild review, Movie Fanatic immediately put this little film at the top of our list for 2012. The movie is all but guaranteed a spot among the Oscar Best Picture contenders and its arrival on DVD and Blu-Ray is a splendid opportunity to witness the magic of the film at home. The work follows a father and his little eight-year-old daughter as they navigate an area of south Louisiana, post-Katrina. They are extremely poor, but full of pride.

So, when another monster storm comes at them, do they heed the government's warnings to evacuate? You'll have to witness the film to see how these people who inhabit an area they call The Bathtub will steal your heart.

As for extras, oftentimes the "making of" docs feel like they're simply mailing it in. Not so with The Making of Beasts of the Southern Wild... it is electric and is priceless in how everyone on this project shared in the deep will to make the best picture they could and how they succeeded. And you do not want to miss the little girl at the heart of the story and her audio commentary, the sure to be nominated for Best Actress Quvenzhane Wallis, along with her onscreen father, Dwight Henry.

Finding Nemo: The Disney-Pixar Oscar-winning classic lands on high definition Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray 3D and digital platforms today and it allows fans to bring home the best picture and sound on earth that follows the story of little lost Nemo, the paternal prince that is Marlin, his forgetful friend Dory (the astounding Ellen DeGeneres) and of course the cast of characters that have become iconic -- like those sharks who don't eat other fish!

This is the first time that Finding Nemo has been available in such high definition and the undersea adventure has never looked or sounded so incredible. The second highest-grossing Pixar film in history shows why it's so popular by simply watching it in the majesty of a hi-def underwater world. Among the extras that stand out are the 3D HD Aquarium feature which is exactly as it sounds and pretty awesome at that. Also available is the Knick Knack short film that aired with the theatrical release and a don't miss is the deleted scene, Alt Opening.

Top 10 Bill Murray Movies: Is Comedy or Drama Number One?

$

0

Bill Murray is back and flexing those dramatic muscles as Franklin Roosevelt in Hyde Park on the Hudson. Since pushing his acting skills into the drama arena after years as a cinematic comic titan, Murray has shown how truly versatile he has become. In honor of his latest film arriving and all of its Oscar buzz for its leading man, Movie Fanatic looked back over four decades of Murray work to compile our own Top 10 Bill Murray Movies.

10. Where the Buffalo Roam
Before there was Johnny Depp as the founder of Gonzo journalism, there was Murray’s take on Hunter S. Thompson in Where the Buffalo Roam. The film is a mishmash of several of Thompson's books and is simply a balls-to-the-wall comic gem.

Bill Murray Where the Buffalo Roam
9. Meatballs
Meatballs was Murray's first foray on film after his success on Saturday Night Live. The Canadian film was directed by Ivan Reitman and set up a longstanding relationship between the director and star that would continue with Stripes, Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2. Sure, it is firmly planted in 1970's humor, but the film still resonates today. Murray's portrayal of a camp counselor makes it so.

8. Scrooged
Is it one of the best Christmas films of all-time? You bet, and again that is largely due to the performance of Murray as the titular character. Scrooged took the holiday film and firmly turned it on its head. Murray killed it as the head of a major television network who has the compassion of... well, the devil. When he makes his staff and creative team work on Christmas, as they stage a live production of Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, you can guess what happens. He is visited by three ghosts, all leading him to the conclusion that he needs to live his life a little bit nicer.

7. Moonrise Kingdom
Murray's most recent starring role before Hyde Park on the Hudson, Moonrise Kingdom, is only the latest brilliant work the actor achieved pairing with director Wes Anderson. As we stated in our Moonrise Kingdom review, the story of two tweens finding love and escaping their parents' grasp in 1960s New England is nothing short of brilliant. And it also allowed Murray to push his acting muscles even further as a distant father and husband.

Bill Murray Moonrise Kingdom
6. Groundhog Day

Groundhog Dayhas become part of the world's lexicon. Whenever someone is repeating something over and over, it is continually referred to as the Groundhog Day effect. That speaks to the power of this 1990s comedy that featured Murray as a pompous local newsman who finds it beneath himself to have to cover the annual gathering in Punsxutawney, Pennsylvania to see if a groundhog named Phil will rear his head and witness his shadow. Murray is why this film works and doesn't become mundane. As he lives the same day for the umpteenth time, it is a joy to see the actor delve simultaneously into madness and clarity.

5. Stripes
Forward... march! What better comic actor than Murray to lead a band of misfits into basic training? A classic group of comics joined the actor in this 1981 classic including Harold Ramis (who Murray would work with on Ghostbusters), John Candy and John Larroquette. At a time when the country was still reeling from backlash over the Vietnam War, with Stripes, Murray and his platoon managed to cinematically make the military more approachable. One thing is for sure: Joining the army never looked so fun.

4. Caddyshack
Caddyshack is part of a roll that Murray had there for a while that we will not likely see again when it comes to comic actors scoring so many iconic comedies in a row. Starting with Meatballs, and then Where the Buffalo Roam, Caddyshack and then Stripes, Murray ruled the comedy landscape. The film is considered the quintessential golf comedy of all time and those Caddyshack quotes are among the most popular... ever.

Bill Murray Caddyshack

3. Lost in Translation
After that string of comic gems, Murray tried to be taken seriously as a dramatic actor. He did not fare so well with The Razor's Edge in 1984, and that may have hurt his chances for a second effort. He kept at it and when Sofia Coppola cast the actor as the lead in her Lost in Translation, Murray was so unbelievably brilliant. He even earned the elusive Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He has this film to thank for this dramatic-centric next chapter of his life that he is still firmly in with his slew of Anderson films and his current biopic of FDR.

2. Rushmore
Speaking of Anderson, there could have been no other actor who could have inhabited the role of Herman Blume in the filmmaker's instant classic dark comedy. His back and forth with up-and-comer Jason Schwartzman is nothing short of genius on both actors' parts. Rushmoredoes not work without each actor who commanded the role being cast. It will continue to be a favorite of film fans for decades as new audiences discover it. Its brilliance has only been enhanced with age.

Bill Murray Ghostbusters

1. Ghostbusters
Yes, it may be the biggest blockbuster on this list, but it also is the best. Ghostbusters is not only a movie that defined its time, it is also a film that has managed to garner legions of fans as the years have passed. So much so, that Ghostbusters 3 news is still front page fodder in 2012. The talent trifecta of Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis made the sci-fi-comedy adventure electric and although sequels followed and will follow, nothing compares to the original. There are too many iconic moments to list, but the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is right near the top!

Laura Linney plays Daisy, a real life person, in Hyde Park on the Hudson. Few outside of Franklin Roosevelt history buffs even know about her, yet the character was integral to the man's greatness. That famous dog FDR always posed with, Fala, was at the time the most known canine in the world. The animal was given to him by Daisy. "That famous dog was a gift from her to him," Linney said in our exclusive video interview. "A lot of people don't know that. It changes a lot!"

We caught up with the three-time Oscar nominee in Toronto for the premiere of Hyde Park on the Hudson, where the actress who shares an alma mater with this writer, let us in on the brilliance of her co-star, Bill Murray. "Number one, the greatness of him is taking this on. For anyone to play FDR is a huge challenge and I would be shaking in my boots," Linney said. Her greatest moment she tells us is in the Hyde Park on the Hudson trailer.

"My fondest memories of us is riding around in that car, it was great fun."
