Hot on the heels of the Dwayne Johnson Hercules set video, the superstar is clearly beyond proud to be associated with this Brett Ratner-directed project. He tweeted the following and shared the photo below to prove his point.

"The most amazing set I've ever stepped foot on. Honored to play this role. #HERCULESMovie"

Johnson has been a Twitter madman on the Hercules set, sharing his Hercules costume and Hercules helmet for the film that also stars John Hurt, Joseph Fiennes, Rufus Sewell and Ian McShane.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has unleashed five photos from the upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. The images finally give us a solid view of Paul Giamatti as The Rhino, as well as one mid-crawl photo of Spidey scaling a wall, Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker sharing a moment… and Spidey creator Stan Lee doing his usual cameo.

  • Paul Giamatti The Amazing Spider-Man 2
  • The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Stan Lee
  • Dane DeHaan Shoots The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will weave its web upon landing in theaters May 2, 2014 and adds not only Giamatti to the cast, but also Jamie Foxx as Electro. And boy, what a villain he is sure to be. Note the lack of patience it appears Spider-Man has with his alter ego Max Dillon.

One of the above photos is of Dane DeHaan, who stars as Peter’s BFF Harry Osborn, and we cannot wait to see the actor who has been cast to play his father Norman, the always awesome Chris Cooper. In fact, it was in our producer Matt Tolmach exclusive interview that he not only told us why Shailene Woodley’s part was cut, but also how Cooper was offered the role in the Tobey Maguire trilogy!

J.J. Abrams Releases Stranger Teaser: What on Earth Is It?

J.J. Abrams is notorious for having his projects surrounded in a veil of secrecy. Whether it was Super 8 or even the first Star Trek, Abrams is the king of the tease.

But with the release of a teaser for something called Stranger... he has hit a new high of mystery. Bad Robot, his production company, produced the teaser and it was released this morning to a collective "What is it?" from the world. Check it out below...

Knowing Abrams, it could be anything. The fun part is trying to figure it out. The dark figure in the video appears to look like The Crow, but we have not heard anything about Bad Robot being behind The Crow reboot.

The comment in the voice-over about being "lost" and how the water returns us there... leads us to wonder if it is some kind of big screen version of his hit show Lost

What do you think it is? Let us know below in the comments section!

The Mortal Instruments City of Bones: Lily Collins Dishes Favorite Scene

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is making the leap from the page to the screen this week and we caught up with the film's titanic trio, Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower and Kevin Zegers for an exclusive video interview.

When asked why this world -- teased in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones trailer -- is so incredibly popular, Collins reported it has to do with the fact that the fantasy is grounded in realism. “The fantasy aspect of our film could be existing among us right now,” Collins admitted. “It’s not separate from reality. It is actually happening at the same time. That allure for an audience, and for me… [is that] it reinforces that there could be a world within our world that we do not see.”

And like the Twilight Saga before, the author of the phenomenon was actively involved in the production, which is not always the case. Jamie Campbell Bower found the help of Cassandra Clare utterly priceless. Not to mention the fact that Clare played a huge part in the UK actor even getting the gig.

“She and Lily were instrumental in me being cast in the movie,” Bower said. He then shared exclusive insight into how the author was so collaborative that she allowed the actors to rewrite a scene towards the end of the movie. To see what scene and how it changed… check out the video below!

Collins, who is in practically every scene in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, then shared her favorite moment in the film, well two! One is likely the fans’ best moment in the first book of the series as well. “The greenhouse -- the one where they finally get together,” she admitted.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Gregg Henry Joins Cast

In an example of it pays to stay close to your favorite directors, Gregg Henry has been added to the Guardians of the Galaxy cast. Henry had previously worked with Guardians of the Galaxy helmer James Gunn on Super and Slither.

Gregg Henry Picture

He tweeted the following early this morning:

"OK UK hold on, I'm comin'. Joining @James Gunn again - #Slither #Super - this time for @Marvel #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy. Gonnabegreat!"

The Marvel Studios production is already shooting in London and most, if not all, of the parts have been cast. The only one that remains is Rocket Raccoon. Many have theorized that Gregg is on his way to the UK to tackle the part of the heroic raccoon. But, there is one big problem with that idea. Rocket Raccoon will be a CGI character and Henry could play that part in a recording studio here in Hollywood.

Then again, could Gunn be shooting Rocket a la Andy Serkis motion capture?

Henry is joining a cast that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Benicio del Toro.

Captain America The Winter Soldier: Samuel L. Jackson on Role of Nick Fury

Samuel L. Jackson has enthralled us as Nick Fury since he first appeared at the end of Iron Man. Since then, of course, we know he was pivotal in getting together The Avengers. Jackson will fill Fury’s shoes yet again in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and in a recent interview, he filled in some blanks as to what form his role would take -- and it’s wildly different.

Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. in The Avengers

"You see Nick Fury the office guy, him going about the day-to-day work of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the politics as opposed to that other stuff,” Jackson said to USA Today.

Although he was only seen in the final moments of Captain America: The First Avenger, even if he’s more of a desk jockey… Jackson promises more of Fury in this Captain America journey. And it appears that Fury aids Cap in further adjusting to him waking up in a new century.

“It's great to have him dealing with Captain America in terms of being able to speak to him soldier to soldier and try to explain to him how the world has changed in another way while he was frozen in time,” Jackson said.

History has changed the landscape, including foes who are now friends. “Some of the people who used to be our enemies are now our allies -- him trying to figure out, ‘Well, how do we trust those guys?’ or ‘How do we trust the guys that you didn't trust who don't trust you?’ and explaining to him that the black and white of good guys/bad guys has now turned into this gray area.”

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Teaser Poster

Oh, and then there’s this. “Nick lies to him all the time, too,” Jackson said and laughed. “”But he's trying to help him navigate the waters of the new sharks that he doesn't know anything about."

Captain America: The Winter Soldier also has added a superstar legend to the cast in Robert Redford. Jackson tells us what part his character plays in the mythology.

"He's part of that World Security Council I was talking to in (The Avengers), just he wasn't there,” Jackson said. “We also know each other because we've been comrades for a very long time. There's some stuff that's said that gives you an idea of how he's been part of that environment for a long time and the kind of guy he was."

Man of Steel DVD Release Date & Cover Art: Revealed!

Sure, the Man of Steel sequel with Batman is all the rage right now. Heck, even the speculation as to who will play Lex Luthor in the second of the Zack Snyder film series has been a hot topic. But, to remind us of what we are following up, Warner Bros. has announced full plans for the DVD and Blu-Ray release.

Warner Bros. home video has announced that Man of Steel will arrive on DVD, Blu-Ray Combo Pack and 3D Limited Collector’s Edition on November 12.

Man of Steel Blu-Ray Cover

Henry Cavill made quite the debut, we stated in our Man of Steel review, and Snyder’s film also featured an incredible cast including Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as the Kents, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, and who could forget Michael Shannon as Zod? Oh, and we could never forget about the always awesome Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.

As shown in the Man of Steel trailer, this is “sort of” an origins story. What Snyder does so well is assume that the audience is already familiar with the Superman story… and they are, so to get right into the action was the right call.

When Man of Steel soars onto home video in mid-November, fans have a multitude of options as to how to see it, depending on what platform they use at home. Movie Fanatic for one, would love to have the Premium Combo Pack, pictured below!

Man of Steel Premium Combo Pack

The special features that will appear on the Blu-Ray and DVD include the following:

Journey of Discovery Creating Man of Steel: This feature length experience has Snyder and his stars Cavill, Adams, Lane and many others describing the filming of the movie as you watch it.

Strong Characters, Legendary Roles: This feature is for the most hardcore of Superman fans as the entire mythology of the hero is explored including his villains and periphery characters.

All-Out Action: Want to know how Cavill got into fighting shape for Man of Steel? The actor takes viewers through the arduous process of getting ready to play Superman, and he is joined by Shannon and other members of the cast and crew.

Krypton Decoded: Dylan Sprayberry, who played the young Clark Kent, takes viewers on a journey to the planet that gave birth to Superman in never-before-seen visuals of the world that produced Earth’s greatest superhero.

Planet Krypton: This featurette delves ever deeper into the mysterious planet as never before.

Fresh off the new The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug poster that debuted earlier this morning, Warner Bros. has released two new stills. The first features Bilbo (Martin Freeman) frolicking in what appears to be pure bliss. Since the world of The Hobbit is not always so rosy, this is a nice shot featuring a Hobbit at play.

Next up is one of our first looks at Evangeline Lilly and her turn as the Elven warrior Tauriel. She is an addition to the Tolkien world, and we think a welcome one.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug trailer has yet to show us much of Tauriel, perhaps the next one? Please Peter Jackson, we want to see our favorite Lost cast member in action in Tolkien’s universe!

Scary Movie V DVD Review: Silly Scares Swing and Miss

$

0

Scary Movie V has landed on DVD and Blu-Ray and we must say the best part of the film is its opening moments. Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan play versions of themselves having a good old-fashioned hook-up session while the news plays on a nearby television noting their legal and personal troubles. It is fantastic to see these two lampoon their personas. And then the movie truly starts.

Scary Movie V Blu-Ray

Scary Movie first premiered in 2000 and came form the wickedly funny minds of the Wayans brothers. The fifth installment of the series that takes horror movies and makes their premises hilarious (or at least tries to) is now being ushered by Airplane filmmaker David Zucker and although his sense of humor has not waned, the film as a whole completely misses the point.

As teased in the Scary Movie V trailer, the films in the target of this film include Black Swan, Mama and even Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Wait, is that a horror movie? This is called Scary Movie, right? That’s where the film seems to have gone off the rails. It even pokes fun at 127 Hours and Honey Boo Boo.

Making headlines from this installment is a scene in which Ashley Tisdale makes love to a chair. Yes, you read that right. Tisdale plays a woman who is scorned by her ballet dancer mother (Heather Locklear) in a Black Swan rip-off that goes nowhere.

The film also stars Snoop Dogg as what I’m not sure, Molly Shannon (who steals the movie, as she always does), Terry Crews (who is wasted), Jerry O’Connell and Sarah Hyland (Modern Family).

A film such as Scary Movie V might be a welcome home video release given all the gag reel potential and the fun filmmakers could have with the extras. Unfortunately, the bonus features are quite pale. In fact, they are just a few deleted scenes and a couple of extended scenes for scenes from the film that didn’t work in their shorter version.

In the end, as we reflected in our Scary Movie V review, the movie is a missed opportunity. From its plot, to its humor… and finally its home video release -- this is one franchise that maybe needs to be put to bed.

Top 10 TV Shows That Should Be Movies

$

With the news last week that a movie based on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is moving forward with Guy Ritchie directing, Henry Cavill and Hugh Grant starring, we felt it was time for Movie Fanatic to get in the mix of this TV-to-big-screen bonanza.

There is a bounty out there when it comes to solid TV shows from the past that deserve to be brought to the big screen. So many would not only make better movies than many recent efforts such as The Lone Ranger and Bewitched, but just on paper alone, they sound like magnificent movies. Toss in the rich history of their television run and you've got a bona fide blockbuster in waiting. And many could become something that Hollywood is madly in love with right now: Franchises!

So without further ado, we’ve put on our pitch and casting hats and Movie Fanatic presents its Top 10 TV Shows That Should Be Movies.

10. Alias
Alias introduced the world to Jennifer Garner and made her a star. The J.J. Abrams-created show was the rare spy program that worked on every level and never lost sight of its mission. It aired for years and although the cast could be game for a big screen version as they haven’t gotten too old to play the parts… might we suggest a movie reboot?

Jennifer Garner Alias

Pitch: Begins just as pilot did with audience meeting Sidney Bristow in college who is getting recruited by her father for the CIA where she travels the world serving the interests of the U.S.A. As this could be a movie franchise, the first film should be a single, stand-alone origins story that culminates in an espionage adventure that teaches Sidney the ways of the spy world, while still showing her trying to maintain a “normal” life.

Cast: Jennifer Lawrence as Sidney, Tom Cruise as her father.

9. Pushing Daisies
Pushing Daisies was one of those television shows that had a passionate following, but network executives never gave it a chance to find a wider audience. The cast of characters and the concept are impeccable for the film arena.

Pitch: The film introduces audiences to the quirky world of Pushing Daisies. Ned has a gift, he can bring people and animals back to life with a simple touch. Yet, the power comes with a price. Someone or something else must die as another is revived. The film should feature a plot that simultaneously establishes what everyone does and also expands Ned’s gift of bringing life back and its global consequence.

Cast: It’s only been a few years since it went off the air so bring everyone back for the movie -- the fans will love it.

8. CSI
If you would get the original CSI leads -- William Peterson and Marg Helgenberger -- back together for a stand alone movie, this could totally be one riveting film. Sure, it ran (and is still running with a new cast) for years, but there is something about the concept of delving into crime from a scientist's point of view that would make an easy jump to the big screen. Also, there was something astounding about the chemistry between Peterson and Helgenberger that would be even more electric in a movie house.

CSI Logo

Pitch: With the ability to tell a story with an “R” rating, the CSI movie could truly push the boundaries and lift up the veil on the underbelly of Las Vegas. The film would put the “Sin” in Sin City as our dynamic duo try to solve a case of a serial killer who is wickedly twisted and at one point, even gets to hold Peterson captive. Not to give away too much, but how about Helgenberger coming to his rescue in a climatic close to the film that leaves you… with a cliffhanger.

What’s not to like? You have a name brand in CSI, which studios love, and with a leave ‘em hanging ending… I smell a franchise. And you know that studios adore those!

Cast: Same as TV… why mess with what works so well. As for our villain, no one does it better than Michael Shannon these days.

7. Deadwood
Deadwood was one of the most compelling Westerns told in the modern era. Yet, it never seemed to reach its full potential. It was almost constrained by the television screen. Sure, it was on HBO and could deliver the R-rated material that that world demanded, but a leap to a Hollywood movie would allow the Deadwood world to rivet an audience anew.

Pitch: Like Alias before, let the film serve as a reboot. The story and the characters are so rich and since the show aired on HBO and didn’t get tens of millions of viewers, it would be new to so many. And for those familiar with the story, with the expanse of the movie genre and the added increased budget that comes with it, the deliciousness of Deadwood would shine like never before.

Cast: Again, same as CSI, don’t fix what isn’t broken.

6. Hart to Hart
Back in the early to mid 1980s, Stephanie Powers and Robert Wagner were unstoppable as a wealthy married couple who solved crimes for fun. The movie could practically write itself! The show had humor, romance and even its fair share of action scenes that made it wildly popular. Yet… history seems to have forgotten it.

Pitch: Our wickedly wealthy couple are a member of the new rich, thanks to his and her building of a tech company that has become intertwined into modern day society. They sell off their business, and when boredom hits… they start to solve crimes, simply for kicks. The first few cases come kind of easy, but the meat of the film follows the detective duo as they try to find a missing kid that the police believe has been killed by his parents… who happen to be Hart to Hart’s best friends.

Cast: Bruce Willis and Catherine Zeta Jones are the Harts. They were electric together in Red 2.

5. Hill Street Blues
Hill Street Blues ran from 1981 to 1987 and was one of the most powerful shows on television at the time. It showed the rough and tumble inner city streets as they truly were for cops of the time. The Hill Street unit of this inner city is filled with a cast of characters where each is more layered than the previous. The show also gave equal time to strong minority characters and female characters when few programs of that time did.

Hill Street Blues Logo

Pitch: When one of their own is brutally killed in the line of duty, the entire unit comes together to bring the killer to justice. Needless to say, things are not what they seem and the case winds up going in a dozen different directions. Good thing there are a slew of cops primed and ready to follow every lead until justice is served.

Cast: Denzel Washington is Capt. Furillo, Michael Chiklis is Sgt. Belker, J.K. Simmons is Det. Goldblume, Bradley Cooper is Officer Renko with Michael P. Jordan as Officer “Bobby” Hill and Ellen Barkin as Sgt. Lucy Bates.

4. Quantum Leap
Quantum Leap combined sci-fi, humor and good old-fashioned storytelling with a message when it aired for the too short timeline of 1989 to 1993. It starred Scott Bakula as the time leaper Dr. Sam Beckett and Dean Stockwell as his helper, Admiral Al Calavicci.

Pitch: After being forced to retire from NASA as the Shuttle program is downgraded, Beckett is not in a good place. Calavicci inadvertently meets him and through a crazy set of events sends Beckett back in time. First stop, the VIP area of The Hindenburg before it takes off.

Cast: Sam Rockwell (Seven Psychopaths) as Beckett and Dustin Hoffman as Calavicci.

3. The Shield
The multi-Emmy winning The Shield has movie version bleeding from its pores. Michael Chiklis would tower on the big screen as the so bad he's amazing Det. Vic Mackey. It has a phenomenal run on TV and we believe his journey is far from over.

Pitch: A case that forces Mackey to work closely with a never-before-seen nemesis that fits cleanly into the show's mythology. This premise would expand the emotional power of Mackey and force him to face his demons and create all new ones.

The Shield Michael Chiklis

Cast: Original ensemble from the FX hit.

2. Cagney and Lacey
With the success of The Heat, there is no reason not to green light a big screen version of the gruff and power that was Cagney and Lacey. Two well-established female detective characters, who are each their own woman of the day, work together to solve crimes -- despite numerous roadblocks set up by the system.

Pitch: They solve a case that hits especially close to home -- one of their friends has a daughter who is murdered.

Cast: Michelle Rodriguez is Cagney, Katee Sackhoff is Lacey.

1. The Greatest American Hero
William Katt played an average Joe who suddenly gets superpowers and struggles with learning how to use them while still attempting to save the day. Our clumsy hero is found out by an FBI agent who becomes a crime fighting mentor and eventual partner.

Pitch: Our average Joe awakes one day and can't explain how, but he has superpowers, like superman. He's clumsy, awkward and everything a superhero isn't. Then, he happens to come by a liquor store robbery and foils the heist, gets shot in the process and discovers that the bullet bounced off him. As the bad guys run away, he flies through the air and tackles them. Not completely knowing what just happened, he runs away utterly terrified.

Greatest American Hero William Katt

The first act follows him learning to use his powers. The second act has him working alongside the FBI agent, and then in the third act... our hero is fully formed and ready to save the day... again and again. We smell a franchise.

Cast: Jason Segel as the hero with Jason Sudeikis as the G-man.

Might we also suggest:Lost as a prequel focused on the Dharma Initiative, Dr. Who for obvious reasons and The Equalizer… oh wait, that’s shooting right now in Boston!

Getaway Trailer: The Clock Starts Now

The latest teaser for Getaway has even more thrills than the first Getaway trailer. Ethan Hawke stars as a man who comes home to a trashed house and his wife missing. The phone rings and the voice at the other end instructs him to go to a parking garage, steal a “very special car” and proceed through a series of tasks that he must complete perfectly… or she will die.

Along for the ride is Selena Gomez, the car’s owner, and methinks that she has something to do with this kidnapping!

Hawke has had quite a year, from his hit film The Purge, the critically lauded third chapter in the “Before” series, which we highly praise in our Before Midnight review, and now this high-octane thriller Getaway that lands August 30.

What a year for one of our favorite actors... oh, and another one of our faves also stars in Getaway -- the always awesome Jon Voight.

Prisoners Unlocks Two Stills: Hugh Jackman Confronts Jake Gyllenhaal

As teased in the Prisoners trailer, Hugh Jackman has had his child snatched from inside his house. Jake Gyllenhaal is the detective charged with finding her. But, with his youth and inexperience, not to mention his tattooed appearance, Jackman is not so sure he’s the man to help locate his missing daughter.

Warner Bros. is previewing its fall slate, and yesterday revealed new The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug photos, and today we’ve got two new pics from Prisoners. First up, is a shot that captures a scene with the two leads, Jackman and Gyllenhaal. Doesn't look like the conversation is going too well!

Hugh Jackman Jake Gyllenhaal Prisoners

The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve and also stars Oscar nominees Terrence Howard, Viola Davis and winner Melissa Leo.

Our second preview pic shows that Jackman and his family are not the only ones affected by this kidnapping. Howard and Davis’ daughter too was snatched and both families are desperate to get their children back before the clock runs out.

Prisoners Jake Gyllenhaal Terrence Howard Viola Davis

Paul Dano portrays a man who police believe is the kidnapper. But as they detain him, they find he’s clean. Jackman feels differently, and by the end of the movie, he may either be his daughter’s best chance at survival, or the key to her demise.

Prisoners lands in theaters September 20.

Thor The Dark World: Go Behind the Scenes

The Iron Man 3 DVD bonus features are coming fast and furious and the one that has caught our eye the most is a look behind the scenes of Thor: The Dark World. Movie Fanatic got our hands on it and we cannot be more pleased to share it with our readers who are probably all too eager to see more of the film that was teased so brilliantly in the most recent Thor: The Dark World trailer.

The featurette features interviews with Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.

The Iron Man 3 gag reel and “Mandarin accents” featurettes arrived previously, but for fans of The Avengers, this look behind the curtain of the sequel to Thor has to be pure gold.

Thor: The Dark World lands in theaters November 8, while the Iron Man 3 DVD and Blu-Ray hit stores September 24.

The Mortal Instruments City of Bones Exclusive: Cassandra Clare Chats Book’s Beginnings

Author Cassandra Clare met us for an exclusive video interview to dish how the world of the Mortal Instruments even came to be. “I’ve always been fascinated with stories about angels and demons,” Clare admitted of the story that is previewed in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones trailer.

Believe it or not… the real genesis of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was in a tattoo shop. “A friend of mine was showing me her flash book of her tattoo art and I got the idea of this race of superheroes who were part angel who had these magical tattoos that gave them strength and speed… and these superhuman powers that would allow them to protect us.”

As The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is set to debut in theaters August 21, Clare talks why star Lily Collins was a perfect choice to portray her lead, Clary. “She has strength and vulnerability, which is a combination you don’t always see together,” Clare said. “Lily is amazing. She blew everyone away.”

She even lets us in on how the pressure to follow up the success of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was an enormous hill to climb. When she wrote the first novel, she never imagined anyone would see it. When it came time to write the second, she had an audience in the millions.

The Expendables 3 Starts Production: Plot Released

The Expendables 3 has started production in locations across Bulgaria and at Nu Boyana Studios in Sofia. We know Sylvester Stallone is already there, but when new Expendables member Harrison Ford shows up to film his part is yet to be determined. But newbies Antonio Banderas and Mel Gibson are already in the area set to film the third film in The Expendables series.

Bullet to the Head Sylvester Stallone

Lionsgate has also announced the release date as August 15, 2014, and also released a synopsis below:

In The Expendables 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans.

Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

Also joining Stallone as Expendables veterans are Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Ford, Banderas and Gibson are not the only new faces to the franchise as Kellan Lutz, MMA star Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz and Glen Powell have joined the gang.

We believe these films have actually gotten better with time. As we stated in The Expendables 2 review, it is clear these guys are having a blast. And you know what they say... when the actors on screen have fun, so too does the audience.

The first two The Expendables movies have made over $600 million internationally. That’s a lot of action.

Killing Season DVD Review: De Niro & Travolta Together!

$
0
0

Killing Season has landed on DVD and Blu-Ray and it is a first pairing of two legendary stars, Robert De Niro and John Travolta.

Killing Season DVD

As teased in the Killing Season trailer, the film follows a reclusive veteran (De Niro) and a European tourist (Travolta) who forge an unlikely bond deep in the Appalachian mountains. But, all is not what it seems. Travolta’s character has an agenda, and when that comes to light, the sparks fly.

Killing Season paints itself as a mano-a-mano film where the most intense of fighting sequences feature the two superstars battling terrain and each other. The film failed to catch fire in theaters, and should do pretty well in the home video market that has a fan base who truly appreciates action films of varying quality.

The film is directed by Mark Steven Johnson (Ghost Rider, Daredevil) and also stars Milo Ventimiglia (The Divide).

This is one of those films that did not put much effort into the bonus features to enhance the watch-it-at-home experience. In fact, there is only one. The Killing Season Featurette takes viewers behind the scenes of the making of the thriller and features a few somewhat fascinating interviews with De Niro and Travolta.

Unfortunately, they don’t really add much insight into the film and it has us wondering whether this film was merely a paycheck for both. There is no filmmaker commentary track, no gag reel and nothing to further enhance a film that was mediocre from the get-go.

Six new posters have arrived from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 and each has our favorite characters running in peril from attacking food. In the first Cloudy with the Chance of Meatballs, Flint Lockwood’s invention created food that fell from the sky.

As the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 trailer shows, that food has suffered some interesting side effects that has turned some of them into “foodimals” that live to ruin your day!

Will Forte joins the cast as Chester V, an inventor who is Flint’s idol. Mr. T, on the other hand, has left the franchise, with Terry Crews playing Earl.

But the true stars of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 are the food/animal hybrids that threaten around every curve, including the tacodiles, shrimpanzees apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and many other food creatures that are sure to entertain, er scare, audiences when the film lands September 27.

With a release date of August 1, 2014 rapidly approaching, the people behind bringing Fifty Shades of Grey to the big screen better get their cast in order. E.L. James' novel is an international phenomenon and we at Movie Fanatic find it interesting that in less than a year, the film will be out in theaters and at this point in time, we have no stars. Enter the latest rumor: TV’s Ben and Kate star Dakota Johnson is circling the part of Anastasia Steele.

Dakota Johnson Picture

After a deal failed to come together for Felicity Jones, at this point, they should just sign Johnson and get busy making the film.

Johnson is a solid choice for the lead in Fifty Shades of Grey, in our opinion. But what matters are fans of the book.

Let us know in the comments below if Johnson is a good choice. And while you’re at it, chime in on other actresses in the mix to play Anastasia and which of the below actors should be Christian.
