Weekend Movie Preview: September 20, 2013

There is something for everyone as explored in our weekend movie preview. Chris Hemsworth gets some Rush, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mark Ruffalo say Thanks for Sharing, Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal star in the unforgettable Prisoners and the b-boys get their close-up in Battle of the Year 3D.

Prisoners: As we stated in our Prisoners review, Jackman and Gyllenhaal have never been better in their entire careers. The film about a father (Jackman) whose daughter disappears is as upsetting as a film can get. Gyllenhaal's local Pennsylvania cop is charged with finding her, and although he does everything he knows how, in the end it might not be enough to save her. The film is heartbreaking and is as much of a must-see as exists. But, fair warning: It will stick with you and you will not be able to shake it for not months... but years.

Rush: Hemsworth may be the star of Rush, but it is the performance of Daniel Bruhl that steals the show and serves as a talent announcement for the Spanish actor. Hemsworth is Formula 1 racer James Hunt and Bruhl is his Austrian rival, Niki Lauda. The two had a competitive streak in 1970s that set the world afire in choosing sides as to who was their favorite driver. Ron Howard directs in a film that in our Rush review we state is the most un-Ron Howard movie in his career. That is neither a good thing or a bad thing, it is just an astonishing fact given the impeccable touch the man has in having his audience know they are witnessing one of his works.

Battle of the Year 3D: The dance battle movie hopes for an infusion of fresh ideas with this tale of a real-life international b-boy dance battle that the Americans have not (fictionally) won in 15 years. Josh Holloway stars as their coach, and although the dancing onscreen truly pops, the storyline is about as predictable as it gets. As we write in our Battle of the Year 3D review, if dance is your thing... you will love this movie. If you are looking for inspiration... perhaps go somewhere else.

Thanks for Sharing: Making sex addiction funny and heartwarming is a difficult task. But as we said in our Thanks for Sharing review, the filmmakers behind this film starring Mark Ruffalo and Gwyneth Paltrow actually succeed. They take sex addiction out of the darkness and shine a spotlight on it that is refreshingly raw and real. And the beneficiary of that honestly is the audience. Although it takes a detour or two that we could live without, the film overall... works.

Vin Diesel, fresh off of his release of a Fast and Furious 7 set photo yesterday, has released to his social media fans a new video of him hard at work on the franchise’s next chapter. The superstar was so thrilled with the first day of shooting -- that he made and posted the video below!

Diesel also sent out a fresh image of him on the set, conferring with new director James Wan (Insidious Chapter 2). Fans of the Fast and Furious series have to be eagerly awaiting the next film, especially with news that Lucas Black is back for the first time since The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift.

The rest of the cast is ready to rumble as well, including Tyrese Gibson and newbie Jason Statham, who appeared in the final moments of Fast and Furious 6.

Prisoners Holds Audiences Captive: Weekend Box Office Report

Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal’s unnerving thriller (check out our Prisoners review) held audiences in its grip as the film landed in first place with a solid $21.4 million for Warner Bros. As word of mouth spreads about just how good this film is… Prisoners may just be beginning its box office bonanza.

Prisoners Jake Gyllenhaal

Coming in second was last weekend’s top film, Insidious Chapter 2. The James Wan-directed horror sequel has now banked $60 million. Not bad for a lower budget scare sequel. Third place belonged to the Robert De Niro mob dark comedy The Family. The little film that could has amassed $25.6 million in only two weeks of release.

Fourth place belongs to the film that has taken Hollywood by surprise, Instructions Not Included. The story of a Tinseltown stunt man who suddenly becomes a father has charmed over $34 million since it opened six weeks ago.

Closing out the top five is the other new movie of the week, Battle of the Year. The dance fest did mediocre business, earning an even $5 million.

Looking at the ninth spot, one might think… what? But, yes that is The Wizard of Oz, re-mastered in 3D for IMAX, and it scored big time with a $3 million opening weekend. Not bad for a movie that is several decades old.

Then, closing out the top 10 is the Disney animated movie Planes. For a film that was supposed to go direct to DVD, its $86.5 million haul so far makes whoever made the decision to have it be a big screen release look utterly brilliant.

Box office top 10:

1. Prisoners, $21.4 million
2. Insidious Chapter 2, $14.5 million
3. The Family, $7 million
4. Instructions Not Included, $5.7 million
5. Battle of the Year, $5 million
6. We’re the Millers, $4.7 million
7. The Butler, $4.3 million
8. Riddick, $37.2 million
9. The Wizard of Oz, $3 million
10. Planes, $2.9 million

The Lone Ranger DVD Release Date: Announced!

The Lone Ranger and Tonto are ready to saddle up and come home on DVD and Blu-Ray, just in time for Christmas. Walt Disney Home Entertainment announced that the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced and Gore Verbinski-directed action fest, The Lone Ranger, will arrive December 17. Johnny Depp stars as Tonto and Armie Hammer is the Lone Ranger in the big screen reimagining of the hit TV series that got its start as a radio serial.

The Lone Ranger DVD

As The Lone Ranger trailer previews, this is a story that deals with the expanding railroad in America and the exponential effect that had on the country, especially Native Americans. This is a story that is told from the point of view of Depp’s Tonto, and as such, is a little different than past incarnations of the masked hero.

The Lone Ranger also stars Ruth Wilson, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson and William Fichtner. Check out more of what we thought of the film in our theatrical The Lone Ranger review.

As far as bonus features on the DVD and Blu-Ray release, the most fascinating sounding has to be Riding the Rails of The Lone Ranger. The railroad is almost a character unto itself in Verbinski’s action flick, from grounding the story to some of its most thrilling action sequences. The bonus feature looks at how a five mile track was built from scratch using real train engines and cars from the period to create an authentic look.

Armie’s Western Road Trip follows Hammer as he takes viewers on a tour of the set, while Becoming a Cowboy showcases how the cast had to learn everything from shooting a gun to riding a horse. It’s cowboy camp for Hollywood stars!

Thor The Dark World TV Spot: I Will Find a Way to Save Us All

Marvel Studios has released a new TV teaser for Thor: The Dark World, and sure, it starts similarly to the Thor: The Dark World trailer that we’ve come to love, but then it goes in a dozen fresh directions.

The opening line of the trailer comes from Loki, as do the others, talking about how “desperate” Thor must be to need his help. And yes, that’s true… but what compels Movie Fanatic in this teaser is the line from our villain, “Your bravery will not ease your pain.”

Wow… that’s gotta hurt. Especially with the images played over the voice-over featuring Natalie Portman’s Jane not doing too well.

Watch Christian Bale Audition for Batman: Wearing the Val Kilmer Batsuit!

As part of The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector’s Edition that lands on Blu-Ray tomorrow, Movie Fanatic got one of the special features that ought to blow you away! It’s a featurette that shows Christian Bale’s audition for the role, in Val Kilmer’s suit no less. Bale is auditioning for the part that would eventually send him into the stratosphere. And who’s that he’s auditioning across? Why… that’s Man of Steel star Amy Adams!

It’s a fascinating look at the beginnings of The Dark Knight Trilogy, and one can see how uncannily prepared Bale was for tackling such an icon in Batman Begins. Director Christopher Nolan talks about marveling at the audition and how Bale knew that this would have to be no ordinary performance. As he is wearing a costume, Bale would have to summon even deeper, so that we would forget he’s even wearing a mask.

Carrie Trailer Celebrates Its R-Rating

Some films try everything they can to avoid getting an R-rating from the ratings board. Carrie has responded to its R-rating for “bloody violence, disturbing images, language and some sexual content” by celebrating that fact with a new trailer!

Where once we thought that Screen Gems and MGM were trying quite hard to ensure that its film would attract a teenage audience, given its anti-heroine is a teen, we guess that the studio is embracing the rating… especially given the new trailer!

But then again, R-rated horror movies do quite well and perhaps Screen Gems and MGM felt this was a case of a win-win with either rating.

For more, check out the full Carrie trailer for the remake of the 1970s classic that lands in theaters October 18 starring Chloe Moretz as the titular horror queen.

Cinderella Begins Production: First Still of Lily James!

Disney’s live action Cinderella has started principal photography, and to celebrate the first frames of the film, the studio has released its first still of star Lily James. The Downton Abbey star is seen as Cinderella in this first pic, riding a horse and looking quite regal!

Cinderella Lily James

Cinderella stars James, Richard Madden, Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter (most recently in The Lone Ranger) and is being directed by Kenneth Branagh.

Madden will be portraying the Prince who must find the woman who fits into that iconic glass slipper, Blanchett will play evil stepmother Lady Tremaine and Carter will slip into the role of Fairy Godmother. Is that perfect casting or what?

Branagh, who most recently directed Thor) is beyond thrilled to be helming the live action version of the classic story that dates back to 1697 when it was created by Charles Perrault. And who doesn’t recall the 1950 classic animated story from Walt Disney?

“It is impossible to think of Cinderella without thinking of Disney and the timeless images we’ve all grown up watching. And those classic moments are irresistible to a filmmaker,” Branagh said in a statement.

“With Lily James we have found our perfect Cinderella. She combines knockout beauty with intelligence, wit, fun and physical grace. Her Prince is being played by Richard Madden, a young actor with incredible power and charisma. He is funny, smart and sexy and a great match for Cinderella.”

Look for Cinderella on March 13, 2015.

Escape Plan Clip: Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Prison Fight

The two biggest action heroes of the last three decades are battling each other to the thrill of the millions of fans they’ve garnered over the years. The power that was teased in the Escape Plan trailer gets brought front and center in the first clip from the film that features Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger battling it out, prison-style!

Stallone plays a man who is known for his ability to break out of prisons. He is placed undercover in what is promised to be the most secure incarceration facility in the world… all under the guise that he will test their security and break out. Only thing is that as soon as he enters, his identity is erased and he is locked away.

Stallone’s character befriends Schwarzenegger “on the inside” as the two hatch a plan to escape the prison (thus the title!), and as we see in the above clip, fighting each other is the first step.

Escape Plan hits theaters October 18.

The Captain America: The Winter Soldier website also features the first full synopsis of the story that we’ve seen:

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick up where Marvel’s The Avengers left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow), to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present day Washington, D.C.

Gravity Featurette: Inside 3D with Sandra Bullock & Alfonso Cuaron

Not only is Gravity one impressively acted piece of work (our review is coming soon), but it is also as gorgeous as a movie can be… and in 3D. The cinematography takes you literally into space -- teased in the Gravity trailer -- and how that was achieved is the subject of a featurette from Warner Bros. that features commentary by visionary director Alfonso Cuaron (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Children of Men) and star Sandra Bullock.

Joining the conversation in the video above is producer David Heyman (who recently updated us on J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them).

The description of how this film was bravely put together is inspiring, and we cannot stress enough how important it is to not only see this film in 3D, but IMAX 3D. Space has never felt so real, beautiful and utterly terrifying.

Gravity lands October 4.

Dumb and Dumber To Set Photo: Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels on Being Back

Recently Jim Carrey posted a picture of that famous Lloyd Christmas tooth getting ready to film Dumb and Dumber To. Today, Carrey took to his WhoSay account and posted a pic of himself as Christmas and Jeff Daniels as Harry Dunne... as their day of shooting is set to begin.

Jeff Daniels Jim Carrey Dumb and Dumber To

When asked about returning to the character, Daniels -- fresh off his Emmy win for Best Actor -- proudly stated to E! that pushing the envelope of comedy may be too tame of a description for this follow-up to Dumb and Dumber.

"The scariest thing? There are some things (that) we're going to do in Dumb and Dumber To that make the toilet scene (in the original) seem lame,” Daniels said. “Pales in comparison and I can't divulge what, but just that they've topped it. The best thing about it? I get to work with a comedic genius."

Carrey is equally as excited to work with Daniels. And proof of that comedic genius is present in what he wrote about the above photo… and simultaneously speaks volumes about how talented Carrey is overall. That book they’re “reading” is How Roland Rolls… Carrey’s new children’s book.

"How Roland Rolls comes out TODAY but it may be a little too sophisticated for Lloyd and Harry!” he wrote. “Yep... THEY'RE BAAAAA…"

Iron Man 3 DVD Review: Robert Downey Jr. Shows His Mettle

$

Iron Man 3 has arrived on DVD and Blu-Ray, and it is so much more than simply a terrific movie landing on home video. The bounty of extras is astounding, and then there’s that exclusive look at Thor: The Dark World. The Iron Man 3 DVD may go down as one of the best from Marvel Studios… if not the best.

Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray/DVD Set

What is so smart, and why Marvel is the gold standard of not only comic book movies, but storytelling as well, is that they do not ignore what has happened before… as we stated in our theatrical Iron Man 3 review.

Tony Stark is deeply affected by, as he says, “What happened in New York.” What occurred on the streets of Manhattan in The Avengers is a huge part in the world of Iron Man 3 and not simply its influence over Stark’s psyche. How does one operate as a hero when you now know there are aliens that can kill, gods who wield a hammer and a Hulk with superhuman strength?

What else is utterly fantastic about this third Iron Man, which may be its best, is the addition of director Shane Black -- who stepped in for Jon Favreau. There is a crispness to not only the dialogue, but to the story as a whole. This thing really moves and is executed with the smartest of touches thanks to Black and his co-screenwriters. And Black’s chemistry with Downey from their making Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is evident as the two seem to have an unspoken language, and the beneficiary is the audience who gets not only a stellar superhero movie, but a terrific movie all on its own. That $1.2 billion in global box office is no accident.

Don Cheadle is given a more expanded role in Iron Man 3 and it too only enhances the story. With Stark suffering from what seems like PTSD, getting a little help from his friends shows that Iron Man has been a part of a team (in The Avengers), and his willingness to accept help in Iron Man 3 shows his growth as a character and perhaps, just perhaps, a lessening of his uber-large ego!

Iron Man from Iron Man 3

And one more thing before we get to the bevy of bonus features. Putting Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts in the suit and allowing her to get in on the action is utter brilliance. Of course, she is no Iron Man, but in an era with so many strong female characters, the time for a female superhero is long overdue. And with Paltrow kicking butt in the film, as teased in the Iron Man 3 trailer, at least it’s a start.

The extras on the home video release we’ve already shown are merely the tip of the iceberg. We’ve featured the Iron Man 3 gag reel, the Mandarin deleted scene (Ben Kingsley, superb as a villain unlike any we’ve ever seen) and the Mandarin “accents” scene. The featurette that truly blew us away was Iron Man 3 Unmasked. You think you know Iron Man and his tale? Think again as this bonus feature should delight fans and will surely make millions of new ones as it provides an insight into not only the making of a movie, but the making of a movie icon.

Also, the inclusion of the Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter is further proof that Marvel Studios is truly just beginning its Golden Age. It takes Peggy Carter of Captain America and gives her her own short movie adventure. It takes place moments after the first Cap movie and shows that there may be more to this arc of the Marvel universe than what was seen by Atwell in Captain America.

And fans of Thor should be chomping at the bit to pick up the Iron Man 3 DVD and Blu-Ray for the behind-the-scenes look at Thor: The Dark World. Viewers get a first look at new worlds and villains that make Loki look like Bambi.

One of the most spectacular action sequences in all of Iron Man 3 is the Air Force One rescue. How on earth did they film that action sequence where Iron Man rescues all those aboard a doomed airliner? Well, thanks to the movie magic that is explained in Deconstructing The Scene: Attack on Air Force One, you have your answer, and it is Marvel-ous!

Iron Man Airplane Still

Given the power that Black has over this third Iron Man movie, his audio commentary track is a don’t-miss. His insight into the thought process behind so many of the series’ most pivotal scenes is simply priceless.

Man of Steel Screenwriter Defends Superman Killing

Man of Steel screenwriter David Goyer was presenting a BAFTA and BFI screenwriting lecture and had the most interesting things to say about the discussion that ensued in the public as to the end of Zack Snyder’s first Superman movie. The cinematic alter ego of Henry Cavill killed General Zod (Michael Shannon) in what purists deemed was a move that the Man of Steel would never make.

Henry Cavill Stars in Man of Steel

Yet, Goyer cautions, that was necessary given the situation, and if you look closely at the mythology… it was not out of left field. Goyer and Snyder had their reasons for what they did in Man of Steel.

“We were pretty sure that was going to be controversial. It’s not like we were deluding ourselves, and we weren’t just doing it to be cool,” Goyer said. “We felt, in the case of Zod, we wanted to put the character in an impossible situation and make an impossible choice.”

Goyer, a veteran of comic book writing, believes that you have to use the world that has come before as a background, but it is not necessarily a bible. This is a movie after all. “This is one area, and I’ve written comic books as well, and this is where I disagree with some of my fellow comic book writers – ‘Superman doesn’t kill’. It’s a rule that exists outside of the narrative and I just don’t believe in rules like that,” Goyer said.

“I believe when you’re writing film or television, you can’t rely on a crutch or rule that exists outside of the narrative of the film.”

Given the circumstances Superman was in, going mano a mano with Zod… our hero had no choice. “So the situation was, Zod says ‘I’m not going to stop until you kill me or I kill you.’ The reality is no prison on the planet could hold him, and in our film, Superman can’t fly to the moon, and we didn’t want to come up with that crutch,” Goyer said.

“Also our movie was in a way Superman Begins, he’s not really Superman until the end of the film. We wanted him to have had that experience of having taken a life and carry that through onto the next films. Because he’s Superman and because people idolize him, he will have to hold himself to a higher standard.”

Annie Remake Gets Release Date

We know that Cameron Diaz is Miss Hannigan in the Annie remake and now we know that Annie has an official release date of December 19, 2014. The film was originally penciled in to be released Christmas Day, but Columbia Pictures moved the movie back a week. Smart move, given all those kids who are out of school and legions of parents looking for something to do during Christmas break!

Quvenzhane Wallis in Beasts of the Southern Wild

The remake of the original 1980’s film was originally started as a project for producer Will Smith’s daughter Willow. But, as time has gone by and the film didn’t get any traction, it made her too old so Beasts of the Southern Wild breakout star Quvenzhane Wallis has stepped in. Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, are producing with Jay Z.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2: Filmmakers on Finding Funny in Food

Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn were no strangers to the world of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. They were part of the team that was led by Chris Miller and Phil Lord (who went on to make 21 Jump Street) and were ready to step in as directors of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 with a huge heaping of reverence for the food falling from the sky universe.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Still

In fact, the entire Cloudy with a Chsnce of Meatballs process has been a huge part of both these artists’ lives for almost a decade.

“It’s been a fever dream,” Cameron said to Movie Fanatic recently. “It’s been three years on this one.”

Pearn tosses in the experience making the first film to give us more perspective about the story first seen in the pages of the children’s book by Judi and Ron Barrett. “We were on the story in the first film for four and a half years, and then the movie came out about eight months after we pulled off the story. You could probably look at... what? Six, seven, eight years?”

As teased in the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 trailer, the film picks up moments after the first movie concludes. Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) has gotten control over his invention that sent food falling from the sky. His romance is budding with weather reporter Sam Sparks (Anna Faris). Before they have a chance to celebrate, Will Forte’s Chester V (Lockwood’s hero) lands on Swallow Falls to inform them that the entire island’s population has been relocated for the food clean-up.

Through a series of events, Lockwood and his pals (including policeman Earl -- now played by Terry Crews taking over for Mr. T) head back to the island where food has taken life forms… many of which are terrifying. Tacodiles anyone? Yeah, scary!

For Pearn and Cameron, it was not like they had to start from scratch. They still had unused plot points from the first foray into Swallow Falls. “A lot of the ideas were left over from the first film. We had all of the sentient food stuff. There were longer scenes that we had boarded and so it was great to pull some of that,” Cameron said.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Cody Cameron Kris Pearn

Both show their filmmaking prowess with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (our review is coming soon). Pearn and Cameron admitted that they are amazed at how science has changed and how they created their story as opposed to the first one.

“Back in the old days, when we started on Cloudy [laughs], we were still pinning things on the wall with a stick, and by the end of Cloudy, we were sitting with a computer and just doing that. There has been an evolution that’s just because of technology,” Pearn said. “The pipeline is digital now so you just draw on a computer and hit a button and it goes. You spend $5,000 to replace a sketch book. It’s all pipeline related. Everything is all digital now.”

Besides Tacodiles, there is a Cheespider… and although they could let their imaginations run wild this time, certain foodimals did not work.

“On this film, there was a Tyrannosmaurus mess that was like a T-Rex Smore monster that was in a scene where they were crossing a crumbly glacier, and that scene got cut from the film. So that monster left,” Pearn said. “It had a marshmallow body, a graham cracker mouth with chocolate teeth, and it would breathe fire to caramelize the crust.”

“It had this whole ecosystem,” Cameron added.

Certain foods they wanted to make come alive simply soared over their target audience's heads. “Of course, my own kids were like, ‘Creme brulee glacier? What’s creme brulee?' That became a story problem,” Pearn admitted. “We had to explain first what crème brulee is to America!”

Like most sequels, things are bigger and more involved in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. But, the filmmakers reported that they never lost sight of what made the first film such a hit. “The characters are the most important thing,” Cameron said.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Bananas Still

They also had to delve into the mind of their protagonist, Flint Lockwood. “We also started thinking about, what does Flint need to go through? So the first film, he started the film like maybe eight years old and maybe we take him to emotionally 14 years old where he kisses a girl, starts to take responsibility for things, makes some friends, but he’s still in his pre-pubescent phase,” Pearn said.

“In this film, we wanted to graduate him into high school. We wanted to take him out of being the only weird kid and put him in a bigger place, and what happens to that guy as he starts to be accepted and starts to find out who he is in a bigger world.”

The first film was a nod to disaster movies, and if this film seems like it has touches of monster movies, that is no accident. Cameron and Pearn are clear when it comes to what influenced them.

Jurassic Park was the big one obviously, because we have a watering hole with a Richard Attenborough of Chester’s beard and the Laura Dern outfit that Sam (Neill) is wearing,” Cameron said.

“There are 1980s movies galore that either we do exact jokes to or it’s just homage. There’s Return of the Jedi. There’s some Goonies, a little bit of E.T. and Gremlins. There’s definitely some Teen Wolf in there -- all those movies that we grew up watching and loving.”

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Flint Lockwood

For Pearn, he sees influences that run the gamut. “Honestly, when we started Cloudy 1, for the first two months, we sat in a room and watched Irwin Allen movies from the 1970s and Roland Emmerich films (like Independence Day) from the 1990s. We were trying to find a world in between those two,” he said.

“At the same time, we were watching Jaws and Jurassic Park and taking those cues. The idea of coming back to do another Cloudy movie, the first thing we had on the table was the genre. Let’s flip the genre and do a different story.”

Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington join forces in 2 Guns and the film proved to be a box office hit, landing at number one upon its release in theaters. As the 2 Guns trailer previews, their two characters don’t exactly get along… at first. Both are undercover agents working a border town, except each do not know the other is undercover.

The film that features explosive action is now set to arrive on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital HD on November 5.

2 Guns DVD

Movie Fanatic thoroughly enjoyed the film, check out our 2 Guns review for more… and we’re even quoted on the home video box (pictured above)!

The two action stars, who also do quite well in comedy and drama as well (!), are forced to work together to bring down a drug cartel -- if for no other reason but to save face as their first effort to bring them to justice was an epic fail.

Arnold Schwarzenegger must be done with his work on The Expendables 3 because he just tweeted a photo from the set of Maggie. Maggie is a zombie flick that shows great promise based alone on the fact that the script was one featured on the Blacklist (a list of the best unproduced scripts in Hollywood).

Maggie Arnold Schwarzenegger Abigail Breslin

The Schwarzenegger pic comes hot on the heels of the Escape Plan clip that was released yesterday featuring his prison fight scene with Sylvester Stallone.

Now, back to Maggie: The zombie film stars Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin as the title character. She is infected by a virus that ever so slowly turns her into a zombie. The action icon is portraying her father and how he deals with his ever-craving flesh daughter will be the crux of the film.

No release date is set for Maggie as of yet, but we’re guessing with filming set to conclude by close of 2013, look for it in 2014.
