The Boxtrolls Trailer: You're So Square!

The latest trailer for LAIKA's The Boxtrolls has arrived and it’s easy to see that this film is from the team that brought us the beloved Coraline quotes and ParaNorman too!

One thing this latest The Boxtrolls trailer has that is an utter delight… a taste of the theme song You’re So Square and I Don’t Care by Cee Lo Green!

The family stop-motion animated movie tells the story of a community of impish creatures (the Boxtrolls) who took it upon themselves to raise a human orphan. They named him Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead-Wright) in the mind-blowing cave-type home that they’ve built below the streets of the fictional city with the delightful name, Cheesebridge.

Things are going swimmingly, that is until the town villain Archibald Snatcher (Ben Kingsley) decides that it is time for the community to rid themselves of the Boxtrolls once and for all.

The Boxtrolls is based on the beloved novel Here Be Monsters by Alan Snow and also features Elle Fanning (soon to be seen in Maleficent), Toni Collette, Jared Harris, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It is due in theaters September 26.

Whew, that’s a long way off! Why not investigate LAIKA's first feature and watch Coraline online

300 Rise of an Empire: Cast Chats Sequel to Zack Snyder Sensation

The cast of 300: Rise of an Empire is more than ready to have the world see the eye-popping 3D marvel that is the follow-up to the visual masterpiece that also gave us such rich 300 quotes.. As teased in the 300: Rise of an Empire trailer, the film operates almost at the same time as the previous flick, and Persia’s threat to the city states of Greece is even stronger.

Eva Green 300: Rise of An Empire

We caught up with members of the 300: Rise of an Empire ensemble including Lena Headey (back as Queen Gorgo from the first flick) and Eva Green (who plays the awesomely evil Artemisia). “I’d say that Gorgo’s back this time just for revenge. It’s that simple,” Headey said of the wife of Gerard Butler’s character who was killed at the end of 300.

Green is just excited for a film that is so engrained in the sword and sandal milieu to have two female leads. “I think it’s quite rare to see strong women in an action film, so that’s cool. Artemisia is like a man in a woman’s body. She’s really ballsy, very brave,” she said.

Artemisia’s quest for vengeance that is rooted in evil does not come out of nowhere. Her character, a Greek, was victimized by Greek soldiers and to say she holds a grudge is a little calm of a description.

“She was traumatized as a child so she kind of built this armor around her to survive, and she became driven and blinded by vengeance, and completely obsessed. Yeah, she’s bonkers, a maniac!”

Although a fire and brimstone war flick with 3D that pops off the screen, Headey cautions that all that war has its root in the classic storytelling guise of family first.

“Speaking from Gorgo’s point of view, the Spartan law is honor before anything else. And the fact that she loses the love of her life... well, there is nothing else to be done apart from avenging him. So there’s no other way for her to go,” she added.

Even with a green screen-heavy action flick, Headey cautions that the root of the story must shine through… regardless of what’s physically around you.

300 Rise of an Empire Lena Headey

“I don’t think there’s any giant science to it,” she said of acting amongst massive special effects. “If you’re playing a mother who’s losing a son, there’s something at stake -- so some of it is just done with pure emotion. This piece is about war and death and love, so I think you’re already set up to be emotionally raw. I don’t think it needs much more than that.”

The performers on the set did have a little help from director Noam Murro. His taste in music fueled the dramatic fire. “Our director Noam Murro loves opera, so he used to play opera [on the set]. He wanted us not to be afraid to be theatrical in a big way,” Green said and laughed. “I mean, my character’s quite full on, so I had to go all the way, and not play natural.”

Green adored the chance as a thespian to not only channel deep emotions, but to tackle the art of stage acting, albeit on a much, much larger scale. “The fight choreography was like a dance. I’ve always been an enormous fan of those Asian films, like Hero and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” Green said.

“So doing 300: Rise of an Empire made me feel like I was a little girl, and I had great masters. You just have to do it, let it all out, go for it.”

As seen in this Meet the Villains clip, Green gets to wear some pretty outrageous costumes, which of course she loved.

“[Costume designer] Alexandra Byrne is very talented and brave. I love the outfit she made that had golden spikes erupting from my back so I look like a sort of dinosaur. It was very cool and very easy to move in. Sometimes my hair got caught in the spikes, but you don’t see that in the film,” Green said and laughed.

“That was my favorite outfit. I look like a weird animal!”

Callan Mulvey, who plays Greek warrior Scyllias, had another experience with his costume. "Just one word: Vaseline,” he said and laughed. “You’re wearing leather underpants. They’re not the most comfortable garment to run around chopping people’s heads off in. But the negatives were taken care of by plenty of Vaseline to stop the chafing!”

300: Rise of An Empire Photo

One of the things that was striking about the first 300 was it was widely considered the “six-pack” movie for how ripped the warriors had to be, fighting with their shirts off the entire movie. It is no different in 300: Rise of an Empire, but Callan admits once they were finished…

“I think everybody went straight to fat camp once we stopped filming. I think, for me personally, I never want to look at chicken and broccoli again, which is basically all we ate, and we were just lifting things constantly,” Callan said.

The actor admitted it was rough, but what they specifically trained for, makes the movie an even more fantastical experience for the audience.

“We were learning all our fight sequences right up to the shoot and training throughout the shoot so it was quite exhausting. But the great thing was they trained us in such a way you weren’t trained to have your chest look like this or an aesthetic look,” Callan said.

“You were trained so that you could move and you really see that with everybody in their fight scenes… you didn’t have to have the stunt doubles!”

Oldboy DVD Review: Josh Brolin Rivets in Spike Lee Revenge Tale

$

0

Oldboy landed in theaters as the most unusual of Thanksgiving weekend films. It is in no way a family flick, which is usually what hits around the holidays. But, regardless, the Spike Lee film starring Josh Brolin -- who gives the performance of his career -- is a stunner and is now out on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download.

Oldboy DVD

Brolin stars in the remake of the 2004 Korean classic as a man who is not the nicest guy. That does not mean he deserves what happens to him. He is kidnapped as news breaks that his wife has been murdered. Brolin is the lead suspect and yet he disappears. The audience meets him as he is locked in a room that looks like a hotel room frozen in time from the 1970s.

It is the small TV, whose content is controlled by those who kidnapped him, that provides him with the news that his daughter is orphaned and is growing up thinking it was her father who committed the crime.

Brolin plays his character completely like a schlub. He soon realizes he is the controller of his own destiny and begins working out. See, if he gets out… he will extol revenge like the kind humankind has never seen.

Inexplicably, he is freed. As seen in the Oldboy trailer, he emerges from a trunk in a field and has to find his way back to the city where he once lived. It’s been 20 years. He’s a fugitive. But one thing is for certain: Brolin will find those who did this to him and his family and they will never be the same.

As we stated in our theatrical Oldboy review, Lee has never made a movie quite like this and it is a stunner -- even possessing a twist that will completely and utterly blow your mind. What adds to the power of viewing the movie itself is the Oldboy DVD and Blu-Ray bonus features.

It is one of our 11 plot twists we didn’t see coming!

The Making of Oldboy is a fascinating look at Lee and how he works. It is especially unique because this is not a “Spike Lee Joint” and he is very much a director for hire. It is terrific to see him free to do what he wants, without worrying about his “brand” or what his fans will think of this particular project.

Transformation is the other bonus feature that truly mesmerized. Brolin lost 50 pounds as part of his turn from frumpy ad exec to fierce agent of vengeance and the featurette chronicles how the Oscar-nominated actor managed to do it in such a short amount of time due to the demands of the shooting schedule. It is, if nothing else, a study in commitment to a role!

And speaking of how he got in shape… this Oldboy clip that is a promo for a fictional workout video that Brolin watches in the film, is also on the DVD and Blu-Ray!

The entire DVD and Blu-Ray package firmly knows the universe that Lee has crafted. When you finish viewing the entire Oldboy DVD and Blu-Ray, the viewer is left feeling like you are still in Lee’s world. Just don’t order the dumplings and be sure to watch Oldboy online!

Noah: How to Build an Ark as God Described?

We as a people have always been fascinated by Noah’s Ark. The story, the ark itself… it is all quite compelling.

With the arrival of filmmaker Darren Aronofsky’s Noah in theaters March 28 starring Russell Crowe in the titular role, we get our first true modern vision of what that all looked like. We know that, according to the Bible, God told Noah to build an ark to survive a horrific flood and even provided dimensions.

In a new featurette for the film Noah, the cast and crew take us inside the making of the ark… and how they used the real dimensions described by God in the Bible! Which of course for fans of Bill Cosby has us recalling his bit about Noah asking God, “Yeah, great… what’s a cubit?”

Well, that is even explained in the above video. It is impressive to say the least the attention to detail that Aronofsky and his crew took in building their ark -- which has only increased our desire to see the flick since that first Noah trailer premiered.

Will Divergent Break Twilight Records?

$

Much has been made about Divergent and it “needing” to be a success. With Hollywood trying to find the next YA page-to-screen effort to have the kind of success that Twilight and The Hunger Games had, all eyes are on Divergent.

Divergent Stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James

When Beautiful Creatures and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones did not exactly bring its millions and millions of readers to the theaters, many are wondering whether the YA seal of approval for a book-to-movie effort is actually the kiss of death.

In fact, it may speak more to the quality of those two films not doing well than the fact that YA fans won’t turn out when their favorite novels are turned into movies.

That seems to be the case with Divergent as the movie ticket site Fandango is reporting record sales for the film’s opening day March 21. As of yesterday, it has sold “nearly half of the site’s tickets for the day,” according to Fandango. It is actually outselling the next film on the list by a five to one margin!

Thus far, those are numbers that are far eclipsing that of Twilight. It means that Divergent is on pace to be Fandango’s highest opening day seller… of all time!

Does that mean the YA page-to-screen slump is over?

No, no it doesn’t. First day sales are one thing. Long time ticket buying is another. When people actually see the film and word of mouth spreads… then you’ll know if you have the next The Hunger Games or Twilight.

But, for those behind Divergent… this news from Fandango is nothing but good.

Watch Twilight online and watch The Hunger Games online and see what Divergent has to stack up against!

300 Rise of an Empire Review: A Visual Stunner

$
0
0

300: Rise of an Empire is the most unlikely of sequels. First, it comes out eight years after the first film became a sensation. And second, it is not quite a sequel. The events of 300: Rise of an Empire take place almost concurrently with those embodied by those riveting 300 quotes.

Rodrigo Santoro 300: Rise of An Empire

Gerard Butler’s character of King Leonidas is seen (notice him in that 300: Rise of an Empire trailer) and heard… and heard of. But, this is truly the story of Greek Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) and his Persian warrior leader nemesis Artemisia (Eva Green).

In the opening moments of 300: Rise of an Empire, Lena Headey (back in her role as Queen Gorgo) tells the story in voice-over of a battle between Themistocles’ forces and Xerxes and his father’s Persian forces and a decision that Themistocles would make that would reverberate “throughout history.” See, Themistocles kind of killed Xerxes’ father.

Artemisia would use that rage and turn Xerxes into a god king of Persia… and a battle will rage anew as Persia’s ships will take to the water, emboldened by their victory against the 300… ready to destroy the city states of Greece, once and for all.

300: Rise of an Empire is directed by Noam Murro, who picks up the camera from the first film’s helmer Zack Snyder. Snyder still co-wrote this film and serves as the movie’s producer… and his hand prints are all over it. The film still has the visual style that made 300 a sensation. In fact, dare we say, it kind of ups the ante. The 3D pops off the screen and the action sequences make what we witnessed in 300 feel like child’s play.

300 Rise of an Empire Lena Headey Sullivan Stapleton

The fact that much of the battle scenes take place on water as a naval battle has provided 300: Rise of an Empire filmmakers with a canvas to stretch their boundaries. It works and at the same time manages to keep our focus on two warriors that are hell-bent on destroying the other -- Themistocles and Artemisia.

In that vein, Stapleton is a solid presence. He, in many ways, picks up the sword from Butler in the first film. It was a role that made Butler a superstar and we suspect Stapleton will see a similar career surge. He commands the screen, but if there is an all-star in this flick… it is Green.

The actress channels a character that the audience cannot take their eyes off of. She is electric, psychotic and firmly in command of a military in a time where few women left the village. It is completely believable that she would be revered and feared by so many. After witnessing Green in this movie, any viewer of the film will find her so convincing, if you see her walking down the street… you will want to run the other way!

Eva Green Stars 300 Rise of an Empire

Our 300: Rise of an Empire review finds the film is truly epic and worthy of the 300 banner. It is riveting and even better than the original. That said, it knows its audience. For those who enjoy their action and violence truly visceral, it is epic. For everyone else, it may miss the mark.

Get ready for the action of 300: Rise of an Empire and watch 300 online!

The latest Sabotage trailer has landed and it features Arnold Schwarzenegger and an all-star action cast as a group of elite DEA agents. Fresh off one of the biggest busts in the history of U.S. law enforcement, members of Schwarzenegger’s team start getting picked off one by one. And ten million dollars is also missing from the haul and people think someone in his group has taken it.

Sabotage also stars Joe Manganiello, Josh Holloway, Mireille Enos, Sam Worthington and Terrence Howard. Look for it March 28... and until then, why not see how it all started for the biggest action hero in the world and watch The Terminator online

Hot on the heels of the Annie trailer debut yesterday, we've got the first series of stills from the highly anticipated musical that lands December 19!

Annie made a splash on Broadway when it debuted in the 1970s and went on to win a Tony for Best Musical and a boatload more. This is the second screen version of the film, and it clearly gets an update.

The story follows Quvenzhane Wallis' orphan Annie, who is spending her days in an orphanage run by the evil Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). Jamie Foxx plays Will Stacks, and he's running for mayor of New York City.

Stacks is advised by a duo of campaign helpers (Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale, who you can see when you watch Blue Jasmine online) that meet Annie and think it would be a good political move for him to adopt her. But, what starts out as an adoption for purely political purposes, changes as soon as Stacks and Annie get to know each other and true paternal feelings develop.

Of course Annie still has her iconic dog Sandy, as you'll see in the slideshow below! Click through and check out all of our Annie photos.

The Grand Budapest Hotel Review: Check in to Wes Anderson's Latest

Wes Anderson has a fan base for his films, but there is something about The Grand Budapest Hotel that will simultaneously please them, while it is also uniquely universal.

Ralph Fiennes The Grand Budapest Hotel

From Rushmore through his most recent Moonrise Kingdom, one knows when you are watching an Anderson film. The shot framing, the dialogue and that ensemble cast that he possesses that reminds us of an ever-expanding repertory theater company... it all screams “Wes Anderson.”

The Grand Budapest Hotel has all of those… and so much more.

Ralph Fiennes, new to the Anderson ensemble, stars as Gustav H. He is a legendary concierge at the titular establishment. His story is central to the film, but it expands much beyond that to cover fascism, romance, war, freedom, family infighting, mentorship, loyalty and delightful confections.

We don’t want to give away too much of the plot or even what it entails or how it is told, for fear of denying a viewer the utter joy that is the entire The Grand Budapest Hotel experience. But, there is a murder and Gustav H. is considered a suspect. The elderly woman who owned the hotel was mysteriously poisoned and her family suspects that Gustav did it. See, our world’s best concierge has an affinity for rich older ladies and they quite enjoy him as well.

There is also an absolute charm to this picture that arises from a mentorship between Gustav and a lobby boy, played by Tony Revolori… who is a revelation. The mentor takes the mentee under his wing and teaches him everything about pleasing the high-end clientele that frequent their hotel. It is charming to witness as the mentorship evolves over the years into a dear friendship, one that will be challenged not only by the murder charge, but also the winds of World War II that are knocking on Europe’s door.

Anderson's regular performers astound in their roles, from Jeff Goldblum and Edward Norton to Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman. And as can be seen in The Grand Budapest Hotel trailer, the supremacy of the cast does not stop there. Just a sampling: Jude Law, Harvey Keitel, Willem Dafoe, Tom Wilkinson, Owen Wilson, F. Murray Abraham and Adrien Brody!

The screenplay by Anderson -- based on a story by the helmer and Hugo Guinness -- is nothing short of art. The wordplay between the characters is like watching a ballerina move effortlessly across a stage. It is powerful, whimsical and completely delightful from beginning to end. And the auteur’s direction has only gotten tighter, fiercer and frankly funnier. The Grand Budapest Hotel is not short on humor. In fact, it lies around every plot turn.

The Grand Budapest Hotel Ralph FIennes Adrien Brody

But, the star of the film has to be the production design. It is like watching the most extraordinarily crafted wedding cake with colors that subtly pop, lush backgrounds and scenery that explode with the minutest of details. Our The Grand Budapest Hotel cannot recommend enough checking in to Anderson’s latest.

It is, in fact, one of our 11 films that could win the 2015 Oscar Best Picture

If you are new to the world of Anderson, we recommend that you watch Rushmore online and welcome the brilliance!

Mr. Peabody & Sherman Review: Animated History Lesson

$

Our Mr. Peabody & Sherman review has to start with the impeccable casting and astounding voice-over work Ty Burrell does with the character of Mr. Peabody.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman Ty Burrell Max Charles

For those who don’t know, Mr. Peabody is the world’s smartest dog. Heck, he may be the smartest anything on the planet. Feeling emptiness in his heart, he adopts a little boy named Sherman (Max Charles). As the Mr. Peabody & Sherman trailer teases, Sherman is about to head to school for the first time.

He has had the most original of preschool programs with Mr. Peabody, thanks to the dog’s invention of the WABAC machine… a time machine. Sherman has met numerous historical figures, so it’s no wonder on that first day of class he has a disagreement with a fellow student, Penny Peterson (Ariel Winter), over something George Washington supposedly did – that Sherman knows he didn’t.

The school principal insists that Mr. Peabody, Sherman, Penny and the girl’s parents get together to work this out. Things are going swimmingly at Mr. Peabody’s house with everyone... that is until Penny’s disbelief of Sherman’s George Washington claims comes to a head once again.

Sherman seeks to prove he's right by taking her to the WABAC machine and having her see for herself. Except, they don’t go back to Washington’s time… and that’s where our time traveling issues start.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman is based on the wildly popular classic cartoon from Jay Ward. And it is with loving care that director Rob Minkoff has taken this story and brought it into our century.

What makes the film work so well is the evenhandedness with which Burrell delivers his performance. He plays Mr. Peabody as a know-it-all, yes, but a humble one. He has patience with those who don’t understand that not only is he the most intelligent soul they will ever meet, but the fact that he is a dog is neither here nor there. Without that element, the entire story would not work.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman Go for a Ride

Through the means of traveling through various points in time, it is the somewhat rare animated movie of today that entertains while it enlightens. To think that you could be driving home with your kids and having a talk about Michelangelo is stunning… and joyous!

Will we see more adventures of Mr. Peabody & Sherman? We hope so because Burrell and Charles make a terrific tandem and we wouldn’t mind getting into that WABAC machine again to see where else we could go and who else we can meet.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Three Clips Narrated By Stan Lee!

Sony has released three new clips from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that are simply, well, electrifying. And that’s not just because one of them features a meeting between our hero and the movie’s main villain, Jamie Foxx as Electro.

These clips are also a Marvel (bad joke?) because they are narrated by Spider-Man creator Stan Lee!

The first clip features the meeting in Times Square between Electro and Spider-Man. And no, it doesn’t go so well!

The second clip reveals that Norman Osborn has died and his son, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), has taken over the company. We then see Peter, who realizes his old friend is back in town. But, what the takeaway from this is… why is Harry deleting footage of Peter at Oscorp? And what exactly is the enormous corporation really up to?

Finally, and the most fun frankly, is a chase scene through the streets of New York featuring Paul Giamatti as Rhino, driving like a maniac with vials of something that don’t appear to be too good being set for delivery. We love how this one ends… always enjoy a good cliffhanger!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 lands in theaters May 2.

Click through and enjoy the three new clips, as well as all the clips that we’ve got for the highly anticipated sequel to the first film. Need a refresher? Watch The Amazing Spider-Man online.

Muppets Most Wanted Posters: Kermit as James Bond & More!

Muppets Most Wanted has released a series of posters that parody some of our favorite films. And two of them are James Bond-based!

Kermit the Frog appears as James Bond in a Skyfall-like poster called Frogfall, and then Miss Piggy gets in on the action as a Bond girl in The World Is Not Enough parody -- appropriately titled The Pig Is Not Enough!

As you can see from the Muppets Most Wanted trailer, this British-based fun is not out of left field. Much of the action of the sequel to The Muppets takes place in England... and eventually across the European continent.

We're partial to the Kermit doppelganger Constantine Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy parody poster!

Click through and check out the four parody posters... and every other Muppets Most Wanted photo we've got in anticipation of the film's March 21 release!

With Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burrell (currently being seen in Mr. Peabody and Sherman), the human stars will only add to the funny business!

21 Movie Living Legends: Stars Get Better With Age!

The phrase "living legend" can be a kiss of death in Hollywood in a town where youth is celebrated.

The moniker "legend" -- although nice -- can be a hindrance to continued success. That is the furthest from the case with these actors and actresses, who seem to be working as much as ever... and truly getting better with age.

We present 21 movie living legends who are more popular than ever and continue to dazzle us with their screen success, decades after they first were introduced.

Click through and meet the 21 living legends!

For a clue as to who made the cut... watch Silver Linings Playbook online for one who earned an Oscar nod for his role and watch Thor: The Dark World online for another whose movies continue to earn hundreds of millions of dollars!

21 Movie Living Legends Who Still Score

Robert De Niro seems to have at least two movies that hit screens every year. Just this past year alone we saw him in Last Vegas, American Hustle and Grudge Match!

Meryl Streep

2. Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep is considered the greatest actress of her time. She seems to have a new movie out every year... at least! We can't wait to see her sing in Into the Woods later this year!

Michael Douglas

3. Michael Douglas

Michael Douglas is a class act and whether he's charming in Last Vegas, winning awards in Behind the Candelabra or scoring a huge role in Marvel's Ant-Man... Douglas always delivers.

Al Pacino

4. Al Pacino

Al Pacino, it seems to us, will never stop acting. Even from his deathbed, the iconic thespian will still be giving us his best.

Judi Dench

5. Judi Dench

Judi Dench is just coming off a career best performance in Philomena, and she got an Oscar nod for it. Now, she's off filming a sequel (a sequel!!) to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. May she never stop.

Clint Eastwood

6. Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood, whether directing or starring -- or doing both, is only increasing his legendary status with each passing year. We can't wait to see what he does with Jersey Boys this year.

Anthony Hopkins

7. Anthony Hopkins

Anthony Hopkins could rest on his esteemed laurels. But, why... when he can appear in fun flicks like Thor: The Dark World and mix it up in Red 2?!

Julie Andrews

8. Julie Andrews

Like her Sound of Music co-star Christopher Plummer, this living legend is still going strong. Voice work in animated films is keeping her busy, as she appears in the Despicable Me franchise and the Shrek franchise!

Jack Nicholson

9. Jack Nicholson

What can be said about Jack Nicholson other than he embodies the phrase "living legend!"

Shirley MacLaine

10. Shirley MacLaine

Shirley MacLaine is another who won't stop working her magic until she simply can't. And who could have given Jack Black a run for his money like she did in Bernie?!

Morgan Freeman

11. Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman is still burning the candle at both ends. Whether anchoring surprise hits like Now You See Me and The LEGO Movie or narrating Oscar caliber documentaries, Freeman continues to astound us.

Ben Kingsley

12. Ben Kingsley

Ben Kingsley seems to be hitting a whole new gear in his career. After his turn in Iron Man 3 as the Mandarin, he gives us the impression he is only getting started. He stole the show in Ender's Game and we look for him to steal the show in Exodus and Night at the Museum 3.

Helen Mirren

13. Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren has found success as a more mature actress and that suits her just fine. She's one of the busiest performers in Hollywood. In the last year alone she appeared in Red 2 and Monsters University.

Ian McKellen

14. Ian McKellen

Who, at the powerful age that Ian McKellen is, has not one, but two franchises killing it at the box office? This year alone we'll see him in X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Hobbit: There And Back Again. We love this Sir!

Robert Redford

15. Robert Redford

Coming off the performance of his career in All Is Lost, Robert Redford is joining the Marvel universe in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Michael Caine

16. Michael Caine

The Oscar winner just completed The Dark Knight trilogy and gave us an Alfred for the ages. He'll be back in Now You See Me 2 as he continues to work his magic onscreen for the foreseeable future.

Maggie Smith

17. Maggie Smith

Some things get better with age, and Maggie Smith is certainly one. Sure, she's dazzling on the small screen with Downton Abbey, but her big screen work is no slouch either. She anchored the hit The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and is the rare 80-plus-year-old to be part of a sequel as the cast heads back to India.

Christopher Plummer

18. Christopher Plummer

We may have fell in love with Christopher Plummer in The Sound of Music, but he hasn't rested on those laurels. In fact, his later years have been prolific -- what with that Oscar-winning turn in Beginners and his scene-stealing role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Dustin Hoffman

19. Dustin Hoffman

That little Focker Dustin Hoffman keeps us laughing and riveted with anything he does.

Betty White

20. Betty White

Betty White is another who seems to get more and more popular as she gets older. She stole scenes in The Proposal from stars a third of her age and it seems that there is absolutely nothing this living legend cannot do.

Robert Duvall

21. Robert Duvall

Robert Duvall is one of the classiest acts in Hollywood and only keeps getting classier. We can't wait to see him duel with Robert Downey Jr. in The Judge later this year!
