300 Rise of an Empire: Zack Snyder Talks Coming “Full Circle”

0
0

Zack Snyder struck a chord with his 2006 film 300. Nobody had seen anything visually like it before. Snyder adored Frank Miller’s graphic novel and sought to literally put it on the big screen... 300 quotes and all!

300 Rise of an Empire Sullivan Stapleton

What’s funny, Snyder said when Movie Fanatic met with him recently, is that much of what was accomplished visually was out of monetary necessity. “When we made 300, in truth, a lot of the movie was created with economic restrictions,” he said and laughed.

“We had this idea of the style of the movie we wanted to make and we knew it was a boutique-y movie. We thought it was a movie for kind of a small audience that would be into this kind of crazy, comic-booky sword and sandal movie. It was kind of a genre that didn’t exist… you know? There are sword and sandal movies and comic book movies, but the rules of mashing those things up weren’t really around.”

Snyder was busy making Man of Steel, and now doing pre-production on Batman vs. Superman, so he was not able to return to the director’s chair for 300: Rise of an Empire.

But, his influence is all over this film… as we stated in our 300: Rise of an Empire review.

He saw something in director Noam Murro and was especially impressed with him, given that Snyder had the Miller graphic novel to work from and Xerxes, the story this follow-up is based on, wasn’t even completed.

“The cool thing about what these guys have done and the movie has done… is that it took that language without a comic book -- because Frank hadn’t finished it! But, [it has] Frank’s inspiration flowing across it and echoed across in the movie.”

Snyder felt comfortable leaving the franchise he started, and knew it was in good hands across the board. As you can tell from the 300: Rise of an Empire trailer... Murro has nailed Snyder's visual style and even pushed the envelope further.

“We have an amazing cast and you can see that they’re funny and smart and physical and amazing actors,” he said. “We have an awesome director who made, I think, a picture that is true to that.”

If anyone’s surprised there is another 300 film, it’s Snyder. Once the first one was finished, he knew they had accomplished something special, but had no idea the cultural tsunami they unleashed.

300 Rise of An Empire Pic

“I was not 100 percent sure there would be another one. When we finished 300 -- they all died! I guess that’s it,” Snyder admitted. “We didn’t really think there could be another movie. But I think when Frank came and said this other thing happened on the same three days as Thermopylae, we were like, what? That’s cool. And actually it’s really fun for me to see these two movies kind of exist now next to each other.”

The challenge was how to meld the worlds that exist concurrently, which also needed to work as separate entities. Snyder is confident they have achieved success, but he wouldn’t mind seeing them completely melded together someday!

“We were talking about how you could cut them together, actually, if you were ambitious – and maybe some fans will do that,” Snyder said and smiled. “But it’s really satisfying for me because in a way it’s come full circle for me.”

Be sure and check out Snyder's first visit to ancient Greece and watch 300 online.

Captain America The Winter Soldier Featurette: What Makes Black Widow Tick?

Marvel Studios has released a video featurette that gives us a closer look at what makes Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow tick. Johansson chimes in, as does Captain America himself, Chris Evans.

They both explain that since The Avengers, the two superheroes have been paired on quite a few missions together and have grown quite close. But… how close, we wonder?

And although they don’t comment on it here, we think that all signs are pointing to a solo Black Widow movie. And who wouldn’t want that?

Until then, we get Black Widow and Cap together in Captain America: The Winter Soldier… arriving on screens April 4. See how it all began and watch Captain America: The First Avengers online.

Weekend Movie Preview: March 7, 2014

0
0

The weekend movie preview has to start with the arrival of a sequel that has been eight years in the making, 300: Rise of an Empire. The Zack Snyder written and produced film seeks to continue the world built in the first 300 by showing what else was going on during that same time period!

Also arriving on screens this weekend is Mr. Peabody & Sherman, an animated big screen update of the classic television cartoon. And finally, we have the latest (and perhaps greatest?) from Wes Anderson, The Grand Budapest Hotel

300: Rise of an Empire: Snyder may not be directing, Noam Murro is, but his handprints are all over this follow-up to 300. This time out, the battle that the 300 waged is going on... and tragically completes during the time period of 300: Rise of an Empire. Lena Headey is back, sure, but the stars here are Sullivan Stapleton and Eva Green as polar opposite warriors fighting for the fate of the city states of Greece. As our 300: Rise of an Empire review reported, for fans of the first film, they'll love it. For those who aren't fond of sword and sandal epics... you might want to skip it.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman: The animated TV classic leaps to the big screen and the entire reason to see this flick, as we stated in our Mr. Peabody & Sherman review, is the star wattage of Ty Burrell. The Modern Family star voices Mr. Peabody (the world's smartest dog) with a panache that is pure gold. The time traveling storyline is also a joy, as you can count on your kids to show a sudden interest in history after taking in this animated joy.

The Grand Budapest Hotel: Wes Anderson is back and in a big way. An all-star cast with too many names to mention here (!) tells the story of Gustave H (Ralph Fiennes). He is the world's best concierge at one of Europe's finest hotels. The zany comedy truly takes off when he's falsely accused of murder. Fiennes is a terrific addition to the Anderson movie ensemble... as we explore further in our The Grand Budapest Hotel review.

Feel like staying in this weekend, several new releases have arrived on digital download. Watch Gravity online (fresh off its 7 Oscars!), watch 12 Years a Slave online (fresh off its Best Picture win), and you can finally watch The Hunger Games: Catching Fire online as well as Paul Walker's final film -- watch Hours online

The Crow

2. The Crow

The entire premise of The Crow is revenge and it told that story with impeccable precision. We miss Brandon Lee and wish he could have made more of these films!

Death Wish

3. Death Wish

One of the original revenge thrillers, Death Wish put dissatisfaction with high crime rates in the 1970s into a Hollywood movie starring Charles Bronson. It was so successful, it spawned numerous sequels.

Gladiator

4. Gladiator

In this life or in the next... yup, Gladiator is all about getting even. When you take away a man's livelihood, his family and leave him a slave, you better watch your back. We're talking to you, Joaquin Phoenix!

Kill Bill

5. Kill Bill

The pair of Kill Bill movies were about one thing, Uma Thurman's Bride getting back at... Bill! And it was too much fun for us to watch.

Munich

6. Munich

Steven Spielberg's Munich may have been telling itself that it was a movie about justice. But, at the end of the day, it was really about the Israeli special forces making those who killed their 1972 Olympic team pay.

Revenge

7. Revenge

Heck... it's the title! Kevin Costner starred, in his heyday, as a man who gets sucked into a little revenge. It was one of Tony Scott's most stylized movies.

Machete

8. Machete

Machete lives for one thing... yup, you guessed it: Revenge. In the hands of Danny Trejo, it was a joyous undertaking!

Darkman

11. Darkman

Darkman made Liam Neeson an almost superhero in the way that his character was practically destroyed on so many levels. Yet, he lived... and now he's back for one thing.

Braveheart

Sure, Braveheart is about Scottish freedom. But, when you look closely, the thing that got Mel Gibson's Braveheart going was to seek justice for the demise of his bride.

9 Most Annoying Star Wars Characters: Force Is Not With Them

Star Wars gave the world some of the most iconic movie characters of all time.

From Han Solo and Luke Skywalker to Darth Vader... these souls transcend the movie world and have become legendary in the culture of our world itself.

But, Star Wars has given us its fair share of terrible characters. Sure, we have fantastic Star Wars quotes that rivet us to this day, decades after the first films arrived.

Yet, we cannot forgive those who crafted these souls who are more annoying than amazing.

As we anxiously await Star Wars: Episode VII, let's look back and click through and check out our 9 most annoying Star Wars characters!

Jar Jar Binks

2. Jar Jar Binks

Surprised? Hardly! Jar Jar Binks was not only annoying, but his portrayal also flirted with being a little racist. We know Lucas wanted to give the kids another fun character, but this guy?!

Yarna D'al Gargan

3. Yarna D'al Gargan

In Return of the Jedi there were many exotic characters in Jabba's lair. Yarna D'al Gargan was not exotic... just annoying.

Bail Organa

4. Bail Organa

On paper, Bail Organa should have been a compelling character. Perhaps it was how it was written or how Lucas directed star Jimmy Smits, but how it came to be in the second trilogy... Bail was stale, stiff and just frankly irked us.

General Grievous

5. General Grievous

How is General Grievous supposed to be one of the most feared villains in the Star Wars world? He coughs all the time and he appears like a frail robot who could be taken out by a blaster. We find Grievous not fear-inducing... just funny.

Jedis Who Get Wiped Out in Revenge of the Sith

6. Jedis Who Get Wiped Out in Revenge of the Sith

All those wasted Jedis! Supposedly, they're the most trained warriors in the galaxy, yet Lucas wastes hundreds of them in one scene that simply annoys us more than anything. These "soldiers" look like they just picked up a lightsaber last week!

Watto

7. Watto

That thing kept Ani and his mother as slaves. Couldn't they have just grabbed him and then beaten the crap out of him and escaped? Surely, Ani's menacing slave master could have been more... menacing?

The Neimoidians

8. The Neimoidians

If Jar Jar Binks was a slightly racially offensive effort, then we must also consider the Asian stereotypes that were truly insulting with the existence of the Neimoidians. Surely, Lucas could have done something better for these legislators.

Fode

9. Fode

Was it us, or did this guy seem completely out of place? And we get the play by play and comedic color commentary, but why not create two vastly different characters instead of having one with two heads? Just. Silly. And annoying!

Avengers Age of Ultron: Chris Hemsworth Says Sequel Is “Insane”

Chris Hemsworth visited Wizard World Sacramento to pay a visit to fans of his Thor character, and was thankfully asked about what he expects from Avengers: Age of Ultron. He admitted several (small) details about the film, such as it will be primarily filmed in London and the shoot will last around four months.

Hemsworth also said that the thought behind Avengers: Age of Ultron follows the playbook that most sequels have to have… and we’re glad to hear it! "Everything in Avengers is ramped up,” Hemsworth said.

The star of Thor, The Avengers and Thor: The Dark World was clearly impressed with what Whedon has put on paper.

“It kind of blew me away reading it,” Hemsworth admitted. “I don't know how Joss does it, but everyone has just gone up another notch and the whole thing is bigger and more insane and crazy. Yeah, he's a genius."

We may have to wait until May 1, 2015 to check out Avengers: Age of Ultron, but you can watch Hemsworth in action now. Watch Thor online; watch The Avengers online and you can also watch Thor: The Dark World online!

Noah Clip: A Great Flood is Coming

Just last week, we ran a fascinating Noah featurette on how director Darren Aronofsky and his crew literally re-created the ark that Noah built in the bible to survive the great flood.

Today, we get to feature the first clip from Noah, starring Russell Crowe as the biblical hero, where he first presents his task to his family.

We love how he uses the phrase “our family has been chosen.” This is not simply his charge in life… it is all of theirs.

From that first Noah trailer, we were compelled by this story. The fact that Black Swan director Aronofsky is behind it makes it even more appealing. Plus, we have to admit, Crowe’s casting as Noah is pretty spot-on!

Noah opens March 28 and also stars Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson and Logan Lerman.

300: Rise of an Empire Exclusive: Secrets to Success

0
0

300: Rise of an Empire won the box office with an impressive $45 million debut and we got to talk to the film’s producer, Bernie Goldman, for an exclusive interview. We chatted about what he thinks it is about the world of 300 that is still so compelling, seven years after the first one, and he even admits their concerns of doing a follow-up without the star who uttered those famous 300 quotes, Gerard Butler.

Rodrigo Santoro Stars in 300: Rise of an Empire

Goldman also let us in on a little secret: 300: Rise of an Empire scene-stealer -- Eva Green -- was originally thought of for the role that went to Lena Headey! Fate is a funny thing, as we cannot imagine 300: Rise of an Empire without her and her villainous ways!

Movie Fanatic: This 300 world has so resonated with people since it first came out, and clearly from the response to 300: Rise of an Empire… it is beloved. What do you think it is about it that people love so much?

Bernie Goldman: I really don’t know to tell you the truth. I could speculate. Someone told me that before we did the first 300, there was 3000 copies of the graphic novel in circulation. I was astounded by that figure because it seemed like from the online chatter -- and this was seven years ago, the beginning of movie fans talking to each other on the internet -- there was so much buzz. The success of the first movie was largely due to how much fans talked about the movie on the internet. When our first trailer came out, Zack’s original idea was “I want to take Frank’s (Miller) book and put it on screen.” When people saw that, they were blown away. Zack’s a great artist and a great director and he was doing something visually that hadn’t been done. When you do something visually arresting in a genre with action that people love, then you’re rewarded.

Movie Fanatic: It was something that has been often imitated since. I was so impressed with what Noam Murro did, picking up the mantle from Zack. What was it about Noam that most assured you guys that he was the guy to carry on Zack’s legacy with 300?

Bernie Goldman: We spoke and met with a bunch of directors and frankly, Noam had a great grasp of the material and he did a great visual presentation. He was prepared. He knew the first movie and knew what he wanted to do and how to push it forward. When someone comes in the room and is that commanding, you better give him the job.

Movie Fanatic: Is that what Eva Green did when she came in? Because she just exploded on screen, as we said in our 300: Rise of an Empire review...

Bernie Goldman: It’s interesting -- no one’s talked about this! But, we first met Eva for Gorgo years ago. We ended up going with Lena Headey. She is such a stellar actress, and there is nobody out there like her. She was the only person on our list for the part. I don’t know what we would have done if she had said no. I still can’t think of anybody else! She’s so interesting and commands the screen in the role that she does. We really wanted her and sent her the script… and thank God she said yes.

Movie Fanatic: We touched on it with the world of 300 and its resonance. But, what do you think it is about the world of ancient Greece that, no matter the story, we’re still drawn to it thousands of years later?

Bernie Goldman: All of our stories are based in that tradition. From Shakespeare to whatever movie you want to talk about, any hero's journey, it all started there. And then you look at the history, and there’s so many stories there. It was a crazy time [laughs]. There was a lot of great characters. There were a lot of people writing about it. It makes it interesting. It’s historical, but there is a lot of interpretation that you can bring to it. It still has resonance on all of our lives. The idea of fighting for family and fighting for your way of life, it resonates as much today as it did thousands of years ago. These aren’t new themes, but they’re themes we like to be reminded of. We all think if we were the hero, what would we do?

Sullivan Stapleton Stars in 300 Rise of An Empire

Movie Fanatic: Was there any concern from you as a producer, or from the filmmakers, that you were making this film without the man who became a huge star in the first one, Gerard Butler? Clearly you couldn’t have him in this, because he died in the first one, but he does linger over 300: Rise of an Empire.

Bernie Goldman: Look, we all love Gerry. We made this movie together seven years ago and had a blast together. Gerry was a big part of it. I still don’t think it would have been that much more fun to make this one with Gerry. There was no part for him. We wondered if there was some way to bring him back… bring him back into our family. But, there wasn’t. There is a lot of love on both sides between the filmmakers and Gerry, and frankly everyone involved. We had as much fun making this movie. Hopefully we can find a way to work with him again and hopefully also find a way to keep making movies in the 300 series.

13 Movies That Still Confuse: Flicks That Make You Go "Huh?"

0

Movie Fanatic is a firm believer that a movie does not have to tie everything up in a pretty bow.

We adore a little mystery... something for us to think about on the ride home -- and even for years after.

But sometimes, a movie has its final credits roll... and the audience just sits there, in utter shock and awe at what they just witnessed.

Want an example? Watch Inception online and you'll get what we're saying. Brilliant, but still leaves you with more questions than answers. See, many of these movies are utterly fantastic... but that doesn't mean they make perfect sense!

We even created a Cloud Atlas infographic to try to explain what people had just seen!

Click through and check out our 13 movies that make audiences go "huh?!"

4. Life of Pi

Simple questions: Is the tiger real? Are the animals real? We think so, but audiences seem to be split between them being real and being symbols. Either way, great movie, but lots of "huh?"

Donnie Darko

5. Donnie Darko

Thanks for introducing us to Jake Gyllenhaal, but can you please explain the evil rabbit? And did he die? Does he live? Was it just a dream? We still love you, Donnie Darko!

Eyes Wide Shut

Eyes Wide Shut would prove to be Stanley Kubrick's final film. It stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman and left us with a whole lot of question marks!

7. Memento

Perhaps it was the telling of the story backwards that left things a bit confusing. Memento is one of our favorite movies, but we're still not sure it all adds up. Sure, it's another Christopher Nolan masterpiece, and the DVD has the movie from "beginning to end." But, call us crazy, we'd rather be confused and bask in blissful enjoyment.

God bless the Wachowskis for giving this beloved novel a go on the big screen. Perhaps, though, it belonged more on the written page as the film version left us with more questions than answers. It does get an "E" for effort.

Need for Speed Exclusive: Aaron Paul Talks Life After Breaking Bad

0
0

Aaron Paul has become a household name, thanks to his star-making turn in that smash TV hit Breaking Bad.

Now, Paul is about to become known to millions more as the star of the film that is based on the bestselling car racing video game of all time, Need for Speed.

We caught up with Paul for an exclusive video interview, and note he’s sitting in front of his incredible Ford Mustang from the film. Paul would not have signed up for a film based on a video game normally, but the story was just too compelling to pass up.

This self-proclaimed “car guy” even got a deeper appreciation for all things automobile. “Not only is it a fun ride, it’s a great story that’s character driven. I was instantly invested in these characters from the first ten pages,” Paul said.

That, and the fact that he got to drive the world’s most amazing cars at high rates of speed!

As teased in the Need for Speed trailer, what sets this film apart from other films that use CGI effects with their stunt teams (as seen when you watch Fast and Furious 6 online) is that this is all practical. Paul, and co-stars such as Dominic Cooper, had to go to speed racing school so that they could make it as real as possible. What the audience sees, is what was filmed.

“Our director for this project (Scott Waugh) said, ‘I don’t want to lie to the audience. I want them to know that you’re the one behind the wheel of these cars.’ So, I had to practically get … certified as a stuntman. [It] was so much fun!”

Movie Fanatic has seen it, and it is utterly impressive. See Need for Speed March 14 and see how cars are meant to be captured on film.

Paul also dishes in our above interview what his fans can expect him to do now that Breaking Bad has left us gasping for air!

Zac Efron Up for High School Musical Reunion: “100 Percent!”

Unlike some stars who shun what it is that made them famous, Zac Efron said he would welcome a reunion film for the High School Musical cast.

Zac is Back!

"I continue to see all the guys from High School. Every time we do...there's just this look between us. It's so cool because we never forget a single moment of that experience," Efron said while at South by Southwest, promoting his current film Neighbors.

When asked if he’d return, he didn’t hesitate to answer. “100 percent!”

The first High School Musical movie became the Disney Channel’s most successful made-for-TV movie ever and also starred Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens. The album was even the highest selling record of the entire year of 2006.

The sequel, High School Musical 2, aired on TV and also broke records. But, the gang hit the big screen for High School Musical 3, which went on to make $252.9 million. Sounds like a film that could use a follow-up.

The Hunger Games Catching Fire DVD: Breaking Records!

The release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download have had first week sales that have shattered records.

Catching Fire DVD

How’s this for impressive? In the seven days since Catching Fire landed on home video, the Jennifer Lawrence-starring flick has sold 3.9 million DVD and Blu-Rays. And here’s what’s truly stunning: Sales of the title on digital download (during this past weekend alone) were up 40 percent from the first The Hunger Games.

In hindsight, this makes perfect sense for the movie that gave us such memorable The Hunger Games: Catching Fire quotes.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was the number one movie of 2013 at the box office. In fact, its gross of $424 million has put it at the number 10 spot on the top 10 list of all-time highest grossing films.

“We opened Catching Fire on nearly 20 digital platforms, including six that have launched since the home entertainment debut of the first Hunger Games in 2012,” Jim Packer, president of Lionsgate Worldwide Television and Digital Distribution, said.

And we have it for you right here on Movie Fanatic… watch The Hunger Games: Catching Fire online and be part of history!

Will Jason Sudeikis Become Fletch?

Word here in Hollywood is that the Fletch reboot is finally gaining some momentum, and a big comedy name is even attached. Jason Sudeikis is close to signing a deal that would have him take over the comedic role that Chevy Chase made famous in Fletch and Fletch Lives.

Jason Sudeikis Photo

The key here is that the studio finally has a script they like, and it’s based on one of the best Fletch books, Fletch Won.

Author Gregory McDonald created the gumshoe reporter, and Fletch Won serves as a type of prequel in the book series which would be a perfect fit for rebooting a film franchise.

Sudeikis would be a stellar pick to fill out those Hawaiian shirts and Lakers jerseys that Chase used to wear. The person who plays Fletch must have a wry sense of humor, be able to command the screen and even have a handle on the ability to be a little bit of an action star. Sudeikis has shown that he can do that with his turns in Horrible Bosses and We’re the Millers.

Look for Sudeikis next in Horrible Bosses 2 and you can see him right now when you watch Horrible Bosses online!

Out of the Furnace DVD Review: Christian Bale Seeks Revenge

0
0

Out of the Furnace is a gritty revenge thriller (check out our 11 revenge thrillers that rivet!) featuring and all-star cast led by Woody Harrelson, Christian Bale and Casey Affleck. The powerful film is out now on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download.

Out of the Furnace Blu-Ray

Bale stars as the brother of Affleck and they live in a depressed part of rural Pennsylvania where the only way to truly make something of oneself is the local factory. But, since work has slowed, even that is becoming more and more difficult. Affleck, an Iraq war vet who has done numerous tours of duty, returns home and doesn’t want to follow his brother Bale and work in the factory. He has bigger dreams.

Those seem achievable, thanks to an underground fight honcho (Harrelson) who promises the talented fighter a rosy future. Given the gritty nature of our rocking thriller (check out our theatrical Out of the Furnace review for more), we all know how that will end.

Out of the Furnace also stars Forest Whitaker, Zoe Saldana, Willem Dafoe, Sam Shepard and is directed with power and presence by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart). The viewer truly feels the desperation of a part of America who seems to wonder whether its best days are the ones that have already passed. Cooper captures this sentiment with such clarity, it is truly astounding.

The bonus features on the Out of the Furnace home video release fit the rough nature of the film itself and truly take the audience inside that world.

The featurette Inspiration explores Cooper’s (who also wrote the script), well, inspiration for this story… one that hit him while he was crossing the “Rust Belt” promoting his last movie, Crazy Heart. It is a fascinating look at how a film goes from simple idea to one that comes to fruition.

In that vein, the feature Scott Cooper takes a look at the magician behind this movie magic. Although the writer-director is just getting started, from the film itself to the bonus feature that focuses on his brilliance, we get the sense that we are witnessing the beginning works of a master of movies who is just getting started.

Out of the Furnace Christian Bale Casey Affleck

The fight scenes are a huge part of this film. They define Affleck’s character, but they also give us the root of the revenge mission that Bale will eventually embark upon. Crafting the Fight Scenes is a priceless look at how Cooper and his team put these scenes together to set them apart from films such as Fight Club, while still having them possess that same raw nature that comes from underground, no-holds-barred fighting.

One of the elements that truly gives Out of the Furnace its desperate feel is the score. The Music of Out of the Furnace takes us inside that process and is a unique bonus feature that focuses on the music that truly stirs the audience's emotions.

This is one powerful film that you can discover simply by reading these Out of the Furnace quotes and when you watch Out of the Furnace online.

22 Jump Street Exclusive: Directors Dish Expectations For First Sequel

When we caught up with Phil Lord and Chris Miller for The LEGO Movie, we could not let them go without asking about their next film, the one that will follow up all those hilarious 21 Jump Street quotes. And we’re of course talking about 22 Jump Street.

22 Jump Street Stars Channing Tatum Jonah Hill

“We’re pumped up,” Lord said.

Although they are thrilled with the opportunity, from the moment it was announced and especially since that 22 Jump Street red band trailer debuted, they’ve felt something that is new to Miller and Lord. “It’s a lot of pressure -- people are really excited!”

Miller then told us about how they have had a large amount of box office victories in their careers because everything they’ve done has come out of left field. And that is so not the case with 22 Jump Street.

“We’ve had a lot of success by having really low expectations going in on everything from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs to the first 21 Jump Street to doing The LEGO Movie,” Miller admitted.

“People are kind of skeptical and then we can coast in and exceed their low expectations.”

Lord knows, especially with the success now of The LEGO Movie and the fact that 22 Jump Street is a follow-up, that veil of low anticipation is gone. “It’s harder when it’s a sequel to make people skeptical,” Lord said.

Although Lord does admit that one of their stars will really impress a lot of people in their latest when it arrives June 13. “Ice Cube does some crazy stuff in the movie,” he said. “It’s really ridiculous!”

Miller then turned to his partner and wondered how they could derail anticipation, so they could get back to a spot they’re used to… coming from nowhere!

“We need something to lower people’s expectations. We’ve never done something that people are excited for or thought was a good idea,” Miller said and laughed. “That will be the biggest challenge. We shot a lot of funny stuff and I hope it comes together well.”

We have a feeling it will, knowing these two, and after those incredible The LEGO Movie quotes they wrote… we are ready to see anything they do.

While you’re gearing up for the big sequel, why not check out the original and watch 21 Jump Street online

Star Wars Characters Dance to Pharrell's Happy: Boba Boogies!

One would think that being nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar would be the highlight of the fantastic run that Pharrell is having with his hit song Happy

You would be wrong!

The theme song from Despicable Me 2 has found another cast of characters that is dancing to it... beyond those lovable souls we will be seeing soon in a Minion movie!

A cast of some of Star Wars' most beloved characters took to the Tunisian desert (where the first Star Wars was filmed) and made their own music video for the song that has everybody tapping their toes.

The above dancing Star Wars characters have truly made our day.

These 9 characters on the other hand... are the most annoying in the Star Wars universe! Click through to see who made the list!

9 Most Annoying Star Wars Characters
Maybe it was how it was written. Perhaps, it was how it was played by Jake Lloyd... and maybe it was both. But young Anakin Skywalker, known as Ani, was just plain awful. .. and annoying!

Need for Speed Exclusive: Imogen Poots Shares Surprising Personal Obsessions

Imogen Poots has a Need for Speed and lucky for her, she stars in the film that has her stuck in a car racing at breakneck speeds across the country with Aaron Paul.

We caught up with Poots for an exclusive video interview where she told us the best part of being in a confined environment with the Breaking Bad veteran for weeks on end on the Need for Speed set.

“We’re both obsessed with dark chocolate -- which, actually, is a bad thing because there would be less of it if he was around,” Poots said.

In Need for Speed, Poots plays an agent for the person who owns the car that Paul is driving in his “race to the race” seeking revenge against Dominic Cooper, who framed him in the death of his best friend. She must insure that the car is returned in one piece.

Paul’s character, at first, is not happy. But, after a few hours in the car, he learns that Poots’ character knows quite a bit about cars... which comes in handy.

So, we asked her what would surprise people to learn about Poots. Her answer… is classic!

Need for Speed opens everywhere March 14.

Inside Llewyn Davis DVD Review: Coen Brothers Sing a Folk Song

0
0

The Coen brothers bring the affection to folk music to life with their latest, Inside Llewyn Davis. The Oscar-nominated film is out now on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download. For fans of the guys who gave us Fargo, Raising Arizona and our favorite -- which you can see when you watch The Big Lebowski online -- they can truly do no wrong.

Inside Llewyn Davis Blu-Ray

But, there is something truly special and astonishing about Inside Llewyn Davis, a tribute to the folk music scene of Greenwich Village of the early 1960s. Leading the charge of what is truly amazing about this film is its star, Oscar Isaac, who plays the title character… which we reported in our theatrical Inside Llewyn Davis review.

Isaac portrays Davis, who is a man who has seen better days. He’s a folk singer-songwriter who may be living in the music genre’s mecca, Greenwich Village in the 1960s, but his life is not going so well. He is homeless. He got his friend’s girlfriend (Carey Mulligan) pregnant. And his agent can’t seem to find him a gig. But, he tries and he sings his heart out… and the soundtrack is stellar.

T. Bone Burnett provided the music and the longtime collaborator of the Coen brothers has truly outdone himself with Inside Llewyn Davis. There is something about the creative collaboration between the filmmaking siblings and the musician that explodes off the screen. We can’t imagine Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou? without the music that Burnett put together. See, they are a match made in heaven.

Justin Timberlake Oscar Isaac Inside Llewyn Davis

When it comes to bonus features on the Inside Llewyn Davis DVD and Blu-Ray, there is only one… but it is 40 minutes of mastery!

Inside Inside Llewyn Davis – Making of Documentary features the Coen brothers, Burnett as well as Isaac and co-stars Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, F. Murray Abraham and musical contributor Marcus Mumford (of Mumford and Sons)… all extolling the virtues of this fantastic film and in many ways the joy of the folk music scene of that time itself.

Check out the magic and watch Inside Llewyn Davis online!
