Annie International Trailer: When Did This City Become So Musical?

$

There is something uniquely charming about Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) and her turn as Annie in the big screen remake of the movie musical that itself was based on the Tony Award winning production.

Just watch this first Annie trailer and try not to start singing with Wallis as she belts out Tomorrow!

Wallis stars in the updated version of the classic musical as the little orphan who winds up charming not only a billionaire (played in this film by Jamie Foxx, who also is running for mayor of New York City), but the entire city in the process.

Cameron Diaz plays the "evil" orphanage leader who would rather see the children miserable than finding homes.

Annie also could not have chosen a better release date, it arrives right before the Christmas holiday on December 19.

Avatar Sequels: James Cameron Says Movies Shooting “Simultaneously”

James Cameron is busy getting ready to start pre-production on his Avatar sequels and took the time to talk to fans in an AMA on Reddit. So, where we at, Mr. Cameron?

James Cameron Gives Direction

"The second, third and fourth films all go into production simultaneously. They're essentially all in preproduction now, because we are designing creatures, settings, and characters that span all three films. And we should be finished with all three scripts within the next, I would say, six weeks,” Cameron said.

From the sound of things, Cameron has almost too much story!

“The biggest pressure I feel right now is cutting out things. I love to get the film down to a length that is affordable. There hasn't been a problem finding new and wonderful things to include in the movie."

One last thing was addressed and that was whether his longtime friend and colleague, Arnold Schwarzenegger, would appear in the Avatar movies -- which had been rumored.

"As of right now, he and I have not discussed it, and I don't see a role as the scripts are coming together that would be appropriate for him, so I would say probably not," Cameron added.

Look for Avatar 2 in December 2016, Avatar 3 during the same month in 2017 and the fourth film during the holidays of 2018. And we already know that Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington have signed on.

Now, we just wait. Well, you can watch Avatar online

Gone Girl Trailer: I Am Not a Murderer

The first trailer for Gone Girl has arrived and it is the most supremely dazzling combination of David Fincher-directed images, Ben Affleck at his acting best and a piano ballad that seems like the most unlikely of choices to score a murder mystery trailer!

Gone Girl is one of our must-see movies of 2014 and it is easy to see why from the above trailer!

Fincher, who you can see one of his best works when you watch Se7en online, is a fantastic choice to helm the screen version of Gillian Flynn's novel (who also penned the screenplay!).

Gone Girl lands in theaters October 3 and is easily an early Oscar contender, simply by this one early look!

Blade Runner Sequel: Harrison Ford “Curious and Excited”

When Ridley Scott said a Blade Runner sequel will “happen sooner or later,” it appears that the film’s original star -- Harrison Ford -- perked up.

Harrison Ford in Blade Runner

As he is getting ready to return to another iconic role (Han Solo in Star Wars Episode VII), Ford is finally opening up about whether he would even be interested in returning to the wildly original world that is Blade Runner.

"I truly admire Ridley as a man and as a director, and I would be very happy to engage with him again in the further telling of this story," Ford said in a conversation on Reddit.

The legendary film not only had some seriously memorable Blade Runner quotes, but is considered a sci-fi and action movie game changer. To return to that world, with the sci-fi storytelling technology we have today, Movie Fanatic has to say, would be one delicious endeavor.

Clearly, Ford sees the potential as well.

"I'm quite curious and excited about seeing a new script for Blade Runner if in fact the opportunity would exist to do another. If it's a good script I would be very anxious to work with Ridley Scott again, he's a very talented and passionate filmmaker. And I think it would be very interesting to revisit the character."

The Expendables 3 has released a photo of its cast and it appears that everyone could not be more thrilled to be a part of this action fest.

What's interesting is, did you ever think you would see all these action heroes in one picture, much less in the same movie -- teased in that awesome The Expendables 3 trailer?!

Sylvester Stallone must have been laughed at when he originally pitched the first The Expendables. When it made almost $60 million in its first weekend, it was clear he got the last laugh.

Now he is on to his third movie and he has the likes of Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas and Wesley Snipes joining his band of brothers.

Not bad, Sly, not bad.

Check out all our The Expendables 3 photos in the slideshow below, and watch The Expendables online to see how it all got started.

Ride Along DVD Review: Kevin Hart & Ice Cube Have a Good Day

$

0

Ride Along became the comedy hit of the year when it debuted in the early days of 2014. And now with the Ride Along DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download available today, it should easily be the smash home video release of the year.

Ride Along DVD

Ice Cube stars in Ride Along as a hard-nosed Atlanta detective who finds himself having to deal with a “little punk” who is dating his sister. Turns out that “little” guy is Kevin Hart and he has plans of proposing to Cube’s sister (Tika Sumpter). Oh, and he shares Cube’s passion for police work and has just been accepted into the police academy.

Our cop has an idea: Take Hart on aride along, and with one day on the tough streets of A-Town, he’ll be rid of him forever, both personally and professionally.

As we stated in our theatrical Ride Along review, we adore these two together. They have a comic chemistry that pops off the screen and that is why we could not be more thrilled that it has been announced that Ride Along 2 is coming soon.

The thing about great action comedies and their home video releases is what sets them apart isn’t simply the quality of the movie itself. It is those hilarious, or oftentimes not so hilarious, bonus features. Ride Along won’t have to worry about people not enjoying the featurettes that seem to have a situation where each one is funnier and more enjoyable and insightful than the previous!

First and foremost, Movie Fanatic loved the alternative ending, and with what we know about there being a sequel, it only adds fuel to the funny fire that is that secondary conclusion to director Tim Story’s tale.

Given what we’ve said about the impeccable chemistry between Hart and Cube, we have to start with the brilliance that is the bonus feature Kev & Cube’s Wild Ride. It goes deep into how that ease they had with one another was actually something that was worked at with each bringing a keen appreciation for the other’s talents to each scene. This is a rare bonus feature that focuses on the chemistry between co-stars that actually manages to quantify the un-quantifiable that is essentially capturing lightning in a bottle.

An Explosive Ride takes audiences behind some of the more action-y scenes of the films and is another unique bonus feature that showcases the bond between stars and their stunt doubles. It is a fine line when choreographing a stunt between having it work and having it not work because of an uneasy hand-off between actor and stunt person. An Explosive Ride explores this remarkably well.

Given that Hart is known for his killer comedy improv and Cube can throw a joke off the cuff as well (seen him in those Friday movies?!), You Gonna Learn Today takes you behind the scenes during some of the most spontaneous moments that Story captured for his film.

Paraphrasing one of Ice Cube’s biggest hits, the bonus feature It Was A Good Day: On The Set Of Ride Along takes audiences on a journey that truly puts the viewer on the Atlanta set and chronicles the ebbs and flows of making a movie. And speaking of Atlanta, Atlanta -- The Character gives us an inside look at the Georgia city that has become a hotbed of filmmaking. It is truly fascinating.

We would be remiss not to give a shout-out to the feature commentary by Story that provides another angle to the hilarity that we see on screen. The deleted scenes and gag reel are also don’t-misses as you would expect from a film that itself is as funny as they come.

Can't wait to go out and get this comic gem? Watch Ride Along online right now!

Magic Mike 2: Channing Tatum Promises “Everyone’s Back”

When it was announced a few weeks ago that Magic Mike 2 is a go, fans responded in droves with joy. Although original director Steven Soderbergh will only serve as a producer and his longtime first assistant director, Gregory Jacbos, will direct Magic Mike 2, the best news is that star and creator Channing Tatum says that “everyone’s gonna be back.”

Magic Mike Still: Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey Shirtless

In an interview with MTV, Tatum said that he is writing the screenplay with his partner Reid Carolin and they are quite far along in having this Magic Mike 2 screenplay ready to go.

“We started writing probably like two months ago,” Tatum said. “With my partner Reid I was like, ‘Ah it’ll write itself, it’s fine’ -- not the case! Not the case at all.”

Look for production to start sometime in the fall, or at the least by the end of the year. And although Tatum is cautious, he thinks that everyone from the first movie will be back… even Mr. Oscar winner, Matthew McConaughey. “Obviously no one’s deals are done which is always kind of scary,” Tatum admitted.

The star also dished what fans can expect from a Magic Mike 2.

“This one will be a road trip movie. Without giving a lot away, we don’t wanna make it a really serious, slice-of-life movie. We want to have reality in it, but we don’t want to make it some dark drama,” Tatum said.

“There was some darkness in the last one that I think surprised people and shocked people. This one, we want there to be a lot of conflict and a lot of struggle, but we also want there to be a (expletive) ton of fun -- a (expletive) ton of just ridiculous stuff that you would never see in a movie.”

The Nut Job stars the voice talents of Will Arnett and Katherine Heigl as a couple of squirrels who are just, well, trying to get a nut. The film has arrived on DVD and Blu-Ray and Movie Fanatic is giving away two copies of the Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack to two lucky readers.

The Nut Job DVD

As teased in The Nut Job trailer, Arnett is kind of a go-it-alone kind of guy and that doesn't fit in well with the animal community at the local park.

See, winter's coming and they have to secure a fair amount of nuts for the upcoming colder months and Arnett's selfishness is just getting in the way.

When he connects with Heigl's character, they come up with a scheme that is -- on paper -- brilliant. There is a nut store on the border of the park and they are going to rob it blind... that is if they don't drive each other "nuts" along the way. See what we did there?!

The film was such a success, we're getting The Nut Job 2!

Fast and Furious 7 Confirms: Paul Walker's Brothers Will Appear

As we reported, Fast and Furious 7 has resumed production after it took a hiatus to respond to the Paul Walker death in November. They had said that they would use what Walker had filmed, CGI and stunt doubles to complete filming. But now, one of those rumors that ran rampant in the months while the production was halted has proven to be true.

Fast and Furious 7 Vin Diesel Paul Walker

The Fast and Furious 7 production has issued a statement that Walker’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, will indeed appear in the film all in an effort to properly conclude their sibling’s legacy.

Here is the statement from director James Wan and the Fast and Furious 7 production:

A Note to the Fans of FAST & FURIOUS:

The FAST & FURIOUS saga is about family. The characters are connected by the bond of family, and it is how all of us who have worked together for more than thirteen years feel about each other. It certainly defines how we feel about our fans.

Our family experienced an unthinkable shock in November. We had to take time to grieve Paul, the brother we love and lost, and to figure out if we should move on with our film.

We came together and all felt the only choice was to continue. We believe our fans want that, and we believe Paul would want that too. Paul had already shot his dramatic scenes and most of his action for FAST & FURIOUS 7, and it’s among the strongest work of his career.

We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our FAST family. Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too.

We are just under a year away from the release of FAST & FURIOUS 7, and this film is the most important we’ve ever done together. It will allow the character of Brian O’Conner to live on and let us celebrate Paul in his most defining role.

We wanted to take a moment to speak to our fans directly and thank you for the love and support you always show us as we resume our work.

Look for Fast and Furious 7 in theaters April 10, 2015 with stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Tony Jaa, Kurt Russell, Nathalie Emmanuel, Djimon Hounsou, Lucas Black and John Brotherton.

In the meantime, watch Fast and Furious 6 online and witness the timeless majesty of Paul Walker.

A new photo from Jupiter Ascending has arrived and it features a special effect that filmmakers the Wachowskis (they of those The Matrix quotes) have repeatedly told people they are most excited for audiences to see.

The shot features a scene from the film where our alien warrior hero, played by Channing Tatum, is using his "rocket boots" to fly through the air at insanely rapid speeds.

See, he has been sent to Earth to help a princess (Mila Kunis), who was told years ago she was meant for huge things -- but has yet to see any proof of that with her mundane life. She holds the key to the future peace of the entire galaxy!

Sound interesting? Check out the Jupiter Ascending trailer and prepare to get excited for the July 18 release.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: James Franco Has Cameo, News to Him!

James Franco truly was a huge part of the success of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Since the film was such a huge critical and box office success, a sequel was all but guaranteed.

James Franco Planet of the Apes

As can be seen in the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes trailer, the film takes place a decade after the first one when the disease spawned at the end of Rise of the Planet of the Apes has left only a handful of people alive.

We presumed since Franco is not in the sequel that his character was among those who perished. Well, according to the latest issue of EW, Franco actually is in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. In fact, he has quite a cameo where he appears in a video that audiences will see as part of the latest Apes story that is in a sense a message from the grave.

That is news to Franco.

When reached for comment by the mag, he said, “Wait, I have a cameo? I didn’t even know that. You know, I don’t even think they asked my permission to do that.”

We’re betting a studio as large and smart as 20th Century Fox would not simply use Franco’s image without his knowledge, well… legally. We’re guessing that the Franco cameo in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is simply recycled footage from Rise of the Planet of the Apes or a scene that got cut from the original.

We’re intrigued by the idea of a video message from the past by the good doctor who first introduced us to the power of the apes. Judging by Franco’s response, he’s probably making a few phone calls right now.

Watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes online to see Franco “officially” in action and click through our slideshow below of some fantastic photos from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Some even have a blast -- in many ways -- making fun of themselves and the joining of the lexicon of sequels that Hollywood loves so much. Just watch Shrek 2 online and you'll see what we mean.

Oculus Exclusive: Behind the Horror Hit

Oculus proved to be a solid horror hit this past weekend at the box office, coming in third behind the powerful Rio 2 and the monster that is Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Oculus Poster

We caught up with Oculus producer Trevor Macy to get the inside scoop on the journey of this wildly original idea and how it came to be, and also how the cast (including Katee Sackhoff and Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan) came together to create a wicked thrill ride that has shook up a genre that oftentimes can be quite stale.

Movie Fanatic: As I stated in our Oculus review, this is one original horror movie. What was it about this story that struck you?

Trevor Macy: The way it came about is I had seen Absentia (screenwriter Mike Flanagan’s first film), which was a movie Mike made for $70,000. I felt it was remarkable in how it sustained the tension. That’s hard to find, and a director who can do that is worth his weight in gold. Then, either I’m a masochist or I just thought this was going to be a super original movie. I knew it would be difficult to pull off -- you know, the evil mirror movie. But, I thought if we could pull it off, boy, it would be special. Through a lot of cynicism early on in Oculus’ life, we powered on and were really happy with it.

Movie Fanatic: How was it for you as the producer to work with someone so green, really, in Mike?

Trevor Macy: The development process with Mike, honestly, was really, really fun. He’s a very confident guy and he’s very collaborative. He sees things, not only from the perspective of a writer-director, but also as an editor, which inspires a lot of confidence when you’re working with a guy like that. It was just buying into his vision that gave me the confidence to get it done.

Movie Fanatic: You mentioned his first work, brilliant film, and I had no idea it only cost $70,000. You must have been excited to see what he could do with even a little more of a budget. What was it about what you saw him do with his first film to what you saw him do firsthand with Oculus that most impressed you?

Trevor Macy: I’ve never worked with a writer-director-editor before. It was the editorial point of view that gave me the confidence at the script stage that he could pull off the transitions that we contemplated in the script. I don’t know if you’ve seen Lone Star.

Movie Fanatic: I have! Great film…

Trevor Macy: Yes, and we talked a lot about the transitions from the past to the present in Lone Star. We took a lot of inspiration from that, but it’s really hard to do. That reference informed Mike’s pitch when he talked about going back and forth between the time periods as the movie progresses. We’re going to start to play with that so the audience feels more and more discomfort in the same way that the protagonists do. That, to me, was compelling.

Movie Fanatic: Like Lone Star, the key to that time shifting working is the cast. What was it about your main four, and two little kids too, that made them perfect? I mean, especially Katee Sackhoff and Rory Cochrane and also Karen Gillan… all astounding.

Trevor Macy: First of all, all six of them are wildly skilled. It was pretty amazing to watch them. With Karen, there is so much weight on her to deliver essentially a 13-page monologue and really sell the history of the mirror with energy and conviction. Karen sold it to us as she is used to selling abstract concepts and being afraid of things that aren’t there because of her time on Doctor Who -- that came in handy. And Katee took a role, and I’m not saying that the role on the page wasn’t interesting because it was, but it wasn’t as meaty as what Karen had. But, I have to say, in the end, most people feel that role had equal weight. And it was largely due to Katee’s performance. And Rory, well, he was spot-on. If you’re going to descend into madness, you kind of want to do it with him [laughs].

Puss in Boots 2: Antonio Banderas Says "We're Doing Another One"

When Puss in Boots made his first appearance in a Shrek movie, audiences immediately were taken with the character voiced by Antonio Banderas. Something about those kitty cat eyes, perhaps?

Puss in Boots is Antonio Banderas

Then, our favorite feline adventurer got his own movie, Puss in Boots, in 2011 and it was a complete and utter smash. Something about the suave cat uttering those Puss in Boots quotes just had audiences enthralled. And the casting of Salma Hayek as his co-star didn’t hurt things either.

Now, in an interview with Collider, Banderas has said that he is already at work on Puss in Boots 2!

“We started the new one four days ago,” Banderas said.

“It did incredibly well with audiences and critics, all around the world, and the character is going to keep going. With Jeffrey [Katzenberg], whatever he wants. He’s one of my favorite producers.”

Banderas is eager to return to a character that he has inhabited for over a decade.

“This character was born almost 12 years ago. We have had a lot of fun with him, and it seems that audiences do, too.  So, we’re doing another one.”

Marvel Crossover Happening: X-Men and Spider-Man?

It has been a frustrating legal issue for fans of the Marvel universe -- the fact that different studios own different properties within the comic book world.

Fox owns everything X-Men, while Sony has the Spider-Man property and Disney has everything else. Given that aficionados of comic books know that, for example, Spider-Man has been known to be in The Avengers and Wolverine too, we have been clamoring for the studios to work it out for years so that crossovers can happen.

Spider-Man X-Men Photo

In a move that is uniquely puzzling, news arrives today that a clip from X-Men: Days of Future Past will play at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when it hits theaters May 2.

This is highly unusual because it’s not like these two properties have much intermingling. And previews, as anyone knows who goes to the movies, usually appear before a film. Anything after, like a post-credits sequence, is always meant to tease something else the studio has coming down the line.

Like at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, we got an Avengers: Age of Ultron tease. At the end of Thor: The Dark World, we got a Guardians of the Galaxy tease. But, those all live within the walls of the Mouse House at Disney.

But, for Sony to allow a Fox tease by letting an X-Men: Days of Future Past clip appear after their The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is exciting, but doesn’t really make much sense.

Or does it?

Could it be that a deal has been worked out between Sony and Fox to work together with their superhero worlds? When we spoke to Kevin Feige at the Captain America: The Winter Soldier junket, he admitted that he has very little to do with the X-Men and Spider-Man worlds. Could it be that Sony and Fox have joined forces to team up against Disney and Marvel’s fruitful collaboration? Who knows… but I guess time will tell.

Either way, it is a sign that things are heading in the right direction. Movie Fanatic has always felt that it was utterly strange that the studios have not worked together on their Marvel properties. It’s not like there isn’t enough money to be made for everyone!

And if Paramount and Fox can join forces to release Titanic and other studios have done the same over the years, why not with Marvel properties?

Like we said, it is a step in the right direction and you heard it here: Don’t move after the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 because you’ll get a taste of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Wiig is the wizard of hilarity and she is just getting started.

Sandra Bullock

2. Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock is an Oscar winner for her dramatic work, but she is also quite astute at comedy. Just watch her in The Heat or Miss Congeniality and she'll make you laugh silly.

Jane Lynch

3. Jane Lynch

Jane Lynch has been a comedy vet for years, what with all her roles in those Christopher Guest movies like Best in Show. But, it seems lately she is just exploding!

Melissa McCarthy

4. Melissa McCarthy

Bridesmaids announced Melissa McCarthy to the world, and she has not stopped. With her work in Identity Thief, The Heat, her scene-stealing turn in The Hangover 3 and the upcoming Tammy, this funny lady is just getting started.

Tina Fey

5. Tina Fey

Tina Fey is even funny when she's singing and dancing with a Russian accent in Muppets Most Wanted. Since 30 Rock has closed its doors, she's free to do nothing but movies. Given her turns in Date Night, Baby Mama and Mean Girls (which she wrote!), Fey's film career is barely getting going.

Anna Faris

6. Anna Faris

Anna Faris has long shown her talents as a comedic actress. In fact, The House Bunny is one of our favorite guilty pleasures. You know, it takes great smarts to play characters so dumb!

Amy Poehler

7. Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler has been busy with TV, but she has a stellar comedic movie career already under her belt with turns in Baby Mama, Mean Girls, Blades of Glory and her voice work in Free Birds and Alvin and the Chipmunks. When Parks & Rec ends, look for Poehler to explode on the screen.

Jennifer Aniston

8. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston can do it all, but we think she's a serious comedic actress above all else. Check her out in Wanderlust, Just Go With It or her smash hit We're the MIllers and we guarantee this is one Friend who will always make you laugh.

Leslie Mann

9. Leslie Mann

Leslie Mann has been quietly stealing scenes for years and with The Other Woman, she finally has her star vehicle. She is hysterical on so many levels. And nobody plays a funny drunk who is just losing it better than Mann.

Christina Applegate

10. Christina Applegate

We've known for years that Christina Applegate was hilarious, what with her turn on Married with Children. But since then, she's been one of the most reliable cinematic comediennes there is.

Elizabeth Banks

11. Elizabeth Banks

Elizabeth Banks can do it all. Sure, she can do drama with the best of them. But, there's something about Banks when she's in a comedy that is utterly charming. Be sure to check her out in Walk of Shame and it is Banks at her bodacious best.

Mila Kunis

12. Mila Kunis

Part of being a funny actor or actress is knowing when to play the straight man (or woman in this case). No one does it better than Mila Kunis. I mean, who else could have kept a straight face with that teddy bear Ted being so explosively funny?

Rashida Jones

13. Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones is one special comedic actress. Who else could steal scenes from comedians such as Paul Rudd, Jason Segel and Andy Samberg? And here's a tip: Check her out doing just that with Nick Frost in the upcoming comedy Cuban Fury.

Sarah Silverman

14. Sarah Silverman

Sarah Silverman, whether with live action or animation (she killed it in Wreck-It Ralph), is one subtly hysterical talent. We cannot wait to see her in Seth MacFarlane's A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Rose Byrne

15. Rose Byrne

Why is Rose Byrne on this list? Have you not seen her in Get Him to the Greek? What else needs to be said? Well, except see her in Neighbors with Seth Rogen!

Maya Rudolph

16. Maya Rudolph

Her big screen success should not surprise anyone after watching Maya Rudolph on SNL all those years.

Isla Fisher

17. Isla Fisher

Isla Fisher is a nut! Just watch her in Wedding Crashers or any other of her comedies and you'll see why she is one of the best comedic actresses working today. Now, if we could just get her to work with her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen, I don't think we'd ever stop laughing.

Wendi McLendon-Covey

18. Wendi McLendon-Covey

We've loved Wendi since she was on Reno 911 and couldn't be more thrilled for her to blow up big in Bridesmaids. And she managed to bring the funny in Tyler Perry's Single Moms Club, even with its serious subject. And watch for her as she has three comedy films coming in the next 12 months. Watch out world, here comes Wendi!

Patricia Clarkson

19. Patricia Clarkson

Besides being one class act, Patricia Clarkson is a comedic actress content to play second fiddle. But, she's not fooling anyone with hiding her funny. Check her out in Easy A and try not to laugh.

Kristen Bell

20. Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell was hilarious in both You Again and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Give this talented actress something truly hilarious to work with, and she will be in the upper echelons of female comic actresses.

Jerry Bruckheimer Updates Beverly Hills Cop 4 and Pirates of the Caribbean 5

$

When Jerry Bruckheimer signed a new deal with Paramount earlier this year, he said that making Beverly Hills Cop 4 would be a top priority. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Bruckheimer updated that project, as well as gave us the status on Pirates of the Caribbean 5.

Axel Foley Photo

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was delayed a bit from its original release date of July 10, 2015 to give directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg more time to work on the script. In an ideal world, Bruckheimer is planning to “get that going by this fall or end of the year.”

That means that July 2015 release date is still possible for the Disney picture.

Now, what about his effort with Paramount, that fourth Beverly Hills Cop?

For one, Eddie Murphy will be back as Axel Foley and it sounds like he’ll be straddling the two worlds he inhabited in the first Beverly Hills Cop. “We’re going to take Eddie back to Detroit. He’s going to be in Beverly Hills,” Bruckheimer said.

“So we’re going to have some fun with him.”

Our takeaway from all this? That both films will start shooting this year!

While we wait, let's remind ourselves of Eddie Murphy's brilliance and watch Beverly Hills Cop online.
