Walt Disney has released a fantastic set of stills from the highly anticipated stage to screen effort Into the Woods

Then, we heard about the other roles and the talents named to play them -- most notably, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Chris Pine as Prince Charming and Johnny Depp as the Big Bad Wolf. And we've got photos of them all!

Click through and check out our 15 stills from Into the Woods and witness your favorite stars in a musical that celebrates the intertwining of some of the world's most popular fairy tales.

Noah DVD Review: Russell Crowe's Biblical Storm Finds a Home

$

Darren Aronofsky may have seemed like an interesting director to bring the classic bible story of Noah to life. But when his effort landed on screens in the form of Noah, audiences responded in droves to the epic.

Noah Blu-Ray

Now Noah has arrived on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download and what is so fascinating is that even though it is an epic that should be seen on the biggest screens on the planet, due to Aronofsky’s storytelling style and character building, it still works immensely well on the small screen. But, given that most people’s “small” screens are HDTV with dozens and dozens of inches of screen… expect that flood to still come at you full force on home video!

Audiences and critics responded (check out our theatrical Noah review) to Noah as the film became a $300 million-earning smash.

And now that it is out on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download, the film can have that audience grow exponentially. What is so terrific about the Aronofsky film is that it doesn’t feel religious, so it should not have its audience limited by faith. This is just simply a theatrical epic that happens to be about a story from the bible.

As you can tell from the Noah trailer, the story is one you know. But, there are numerous elements of the Noah tale that you do not know and they are truly compelling on so many levels in Aronofsky’s film.

Having a cast that includes Oscar winners Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Hopkins sure didn’t hurt anything. And young stars Emma Watson and Logan Lerman also bring major chops to their roles.

The Noah bonus features number only three really, but each is impeccably chosen for what it explores and takes the viewer further into the world of the man who built the Ark and saved life on our planet.

Noah was shot at the most beautiful landscapes in Iceland that almost feel like another character. The bonus feature Iceland: Extreme Beauty explores that world and shows why the country has become a hot bed for filming lately. Aronofsky used his topography wisely and through this documentary look at Iceland as film backdrop, by the time it ends, you’ll be saving your money for a trip to the country for your next vacation!

Then, the last two bonus features focus on the Ark, and the very different elements that went into creating the interior and exterior of the home for civilization to survive a planet-destroying flood.

Russell Crowe Stars As Noah In Noah

The Ark Exterior: A Battle for 300 Cubits shows how Aronofsky and his team literally built an Ark in Iceland to scale. The payoff is immense as the viewer can truly feel the power of this vessel and all it represented by it being real instead of some set-meets-CG creation.

And then there’s the inside where all the animals would live, so they could once again prosper when Noah found dry land. The bonus feature The Ark Interior: Animals Two By Two illustrates the painstaking detail filmmakers took with accurately portraying how the entire world’s worth of animals, birds and all sorts of non-human life, would co-exist on this ark that would float the seas that cover where their homes once lay.

Intrigued? Watch Noah online now and witness a biblical epic that truly embodies that description.

From that first The Expendables 3 trailer to those The Expendables 3 character posters, Lionsgate had to know they had something special on their hands.

And with the rating lowered from "R," which it was for the first two Expendables movies, to a PG-13, expect those box office receipts to go even higher than previous installments.

Get On Up Exclusive: Tate Taylor Brings James Brown Story To Life

When director Tate Taylor was deciding how he would follow up The Help, he told us in our exclusive interview, he never thought it would be the James Brown biopic Get On Up.

Get On Up Chadwick Boseman Tate Taylor

For one, the entire effort would ride on casting. But, given his love of casting actors (his favorite part of the director’s job) and how he scored in that department with The Help, he thought he might be able to find the perfect James Brown.

And he did in the form of 42 star Chadwick Boseman, who Taylor admitted to us was equally as unsure about tackling the music icon. So, how exactly did this dream director and dream lead come together to tell the story of the Godfather of Soul?

Read on and find out in our exclusive Get On Up interview!

Movie Fanatic: With so many aspects of James Brown’s life to talk about, was one of the challenges what to bring to life onscreen and what to leave out?

Tate Taylor: At first I was like, “What am I going to show?” Then, I realized that a lot of things I had in consideration were things we already knew. If you polled people on the street about James Brown, they would start by talking about his missteps. When I dug in, I was struck by how much I didn’t know. Then, I realized that people don’t know about 80 percent of his life. I looked at it this way, I said, “What is the most obscure information about him that I can bring to the screen?” I realized that that was my duty. You only have one chance to do someone’s life. That was my marching order and I was able to carefully select more popular and disgraceful moments and I wanted to come up with a clever way to craft it in a way that maybe you wouldn’t expect.

Movie Fanatic: I described Chadwick Boseman’s performance as James Brown as like a hurricane -- that was evident even from that first Get On Up trailer. I was curious what you saw in him that you knew he was the guy to embody an icon?

Tate Taylor: Casting actors is my favorite part of making a film. It was so important for me on The Help to pick the right people and that’s what I do. I pick the best person for the job, not based on resumes or who’s on the cover of magazines. When I was thinking about who could be James Brown, everyone agreed if you don’t have the right James Brown, it would fail. I started thinking about what I should look for and I started thinking about him as the 63-year-old man, which potentially -- if done poorly -- is what people would snicker at. I needed real acting chops to pull this off and I thought of Viola Davis in The Help and like her, Chad’s work is very efficient. He’s brave, as we saw in 42.

Movie Fanatic: What was Chad's reaction to being asked to play another icon in Get On Up?

Chadwick Boseman in Get On Up

Tate Taylor: He didn’t even want to talk about doing it. He was scared to death about the idea. I got him to come to LA and he was just playing around with the last scene with Bobby Byrd where they’re talking about the pool cleaner. Chad was like, “That one?” I said, “That one.” And this attractive, young, athletic guy started acting like a 63-year-old man. I said, “My God, that’s it. Please let him be able to learn to dance!” [Laughs] And as you saw, he clearly got that down.

Movie Fanatic: I was also wondering, and you just mentioned it, you just did -- triumphantly -- The Help– and now you’re doing the James Brown story. Is it a coincidence or something you sought out to do two films back-to-back about the struggles of African Americans in this country as the Civil Rights movement was beginning?

Tate Taylor: It’s the craziest coincidence! If you had ever told me that I would make a biopic of James Brown, I would have said you were crazy because I generally don’t like biopics. And then I would say you were crazy for tackling another African American story set in the south. That doesn’t make sense for my career.

Movie Fanatic: Then it came together more organically?

Tate Taylor: Yes, I did The Help because my friend wrote a very personal story which I shared with her. She wrote about my hometown! That automatically draws you in. I had to tell that story. I spent three years trying to figure out what I would do afterwards. I wanted my next film to have a sense of importance about it that people want to see it for that reason. Well, guess what? After The Help, I thought I was going to be taken to this secret vault where they were hiding all these stories. It doesn’t exist. [Laughs] When I was at Imagine Entertainment for an unrelated meeting and I understood they just got a script in for the biopic of James Brown, I immediately became protective. I got on a plane and in about an hour, I realized, this is the story. This checks every box. I landed in New York and called Imagine and said, “Can I direct James Brown?”

Check out Taylor's previous work and watch The Help online. Also, click through our slideshow of all the Get On Up stills and don't miss the James Brown story in theaters August 1.

Guardians of the Galaxy Exclusive: Michael Rooker on Yondu & Tough Love

$

When some actors have a part written specifically for them, it can be a daunting task living up to their writer-director’s vision of what the character can be. For Michael Rooker and his role as Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy, having his friend James Gunn pen the role for him made it actually easier, he told us in our exclusive interview.

Michael Rooker Guardians of the Galaxy

Rooker plays Yondu, and as teased in the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer, he is kind of a father figure to the Chris Pratt character, Peter Quill, aka Star Lord. It was Yondu’s ship that picked up the young Quill and he has raised him across the galaxy ever since.

The former star of The Walking Dead told us about which was harder: Sitting in a makeup chair for hours or having to not tell a soul about this Marvel movie for years. He also dishes what role in his long career people most talk to him about and discusses how Yondu’s tough parenting is largely responsible for Star Lord being the leader of those Guardians of the Galaxy.

Movie Fanatic: First of all, you can’t walk away from watching Guardians of the Galaxy and not be so impressed with your director, James Gunn.

Michael Rooker: You are?! I am! I have to call him a genius now! He is awesome.

Movie Fanatic: I was going to ask what most impressed you about him, but is it hard to pick one thing?

Michael Rooker: To put all this together, the vision, someone giving him the ability to cast how he wants, you know how hard that is today for a director? Directors, nowadays, can’t cast their own movie. I was very happy and pleased that my buddy gets to cast and write this movie, man. What a beautiful adventure he’s been on and everybody with Guardians of the Galaxy. I mean, he wrote the role for me. That’s astounding and kind of crazy.

Movie Fanatic: Now, when you hear that, going into it, does it make you nervous? Or do you just think, “He wrote this because he knew I could do it?”

Michael Rooker: Less pressure because he trusted me to bring to the role what I do best, which is using my imagination and letting it go, baby! Just do it!

Movie Fanatic: What did you like most 1) about Yondu and 2) about playing him?

Michael Rooker: They end up being the same in reality. You surprise yourself sometimes. You get out there and are doing it and all of a sudden new things pop up. You think you know everything and then you end up knowing nothing because things change on the set. All of a sudden you say something in a different way -- it’s not even the line that’s written on the page. For some reason, it comes out a certain way and after the take the director’s like, “(expletive) yeah, man!” That was awesome. Sometimes it’s just going to come out like that. It’s absolutely amazing and a beautiful thing when that happens.

Movie Fanatic: What was harder… sitting through the hours of makeup or not being able to talk about this movie to anybody?

Michael Rooker: [Laughs] Not being able to talk about the movie until now! But, I got good at it because I had just gotten off The Walking Dead, so I learned a lot from that because they’re so secretive. And it’s every week too. You have to be careful what you even say on the internet after it’s aired here in America, because people all over the world haven’t seen it yet. For me, as the actor, I didn’t want to ruin it for people. I didn’t discuss it.

Movie Fanatic: It must have been hard on a movie like this because you started filming this a few years ago now?

Guardians of the Galaxy Michael Rooker as Yondu

Michael Rooker: It was very hard. You want to tell the world. You see the movie, and it’s like, how can you keep that a secret?!  I would have loved to have talked about it, but you know what? It’s fun to talk about it now because it’s opening.

Movie Fanatic: And on that note, how excited are you that people are finally getting to see Guardians of the Galaxy?

Michael Rooker: I was excited people even got to finally see my poster!

Movie Fanatic:Of all the roles you’ve played over the years, is there one that people talk to you most about? For me, I loved you in Days of Thunder!

Michael Rooker: I love to hear that! Right now, it’s so The Walking Dead. There are people who come up and say, “I loved you in Henry.” People do say Days of Thunder. You’ve got your Tombstone fans, Sea of Love and Mississippi Burning– it’s the 50th anniversary of those kids being murdered. They’re going to show Mississippi Burning at the White House. That movie was so riveting and scary. And my role was the most unforgiving, brutal person.

Movie Fanatic: Yondu has parts of him that people won’t like, but other parts that people can. Do you have to find something to like in the guy to play him?

Michael Rooker: I don’t worry about that stuff. Yondu is who he is; he’s an alien creature. His idea of raising a child is different. He knows he’s going to have to be tough or die. He has to live amongst a group of Ravagers, my group, and they want to eat him. He’s going to have to stick up for himself. I can’t watch him every second of any day. You have to know when to turn and walk away.

Movie Fanatic: That’s what struck me by the end of the movie is that Peter Quill is able to be the hero he is because of how Yondu raised him.

Michael Rooker: That’s exactly why he’s survived all these years. For him to have the guts and the ability to steal from me and rob me, that’s how proud he is as a parent. “You stole from me. I love you so much!”

Get On Up Review: Chadwick Boseman Gets The Funk Out!

$

A biopic can be the most thankless of endeavors for a filmmaker. Tate Taylor had the chore of bringing the life of James Brown to the big screen, and everything that means, in Get On Up. By casting Chadwick Boseman as the Godfather of Soul, he already had one funky leg up on the effort.

Get On Up Chadwick Boseman Is James Brown

You only get one chance at a biopic (here are our top 19 true stories that get it right). With a life journey like Brown had, there are moments to celebrate. There are moments that will liberate. And then, there are those headline-making moments that are what most in our sensationalist society recall about the man who lived to have us all Get On Up.

How Taylor tells his story is wildly original and easily sets it apart from some biopics -- and particularly music biopics -- that we have seen of late. He bounces all over the place in time to showcase Brown’s success, his later years, his days as a poor and motherless child and ultimately those times where the icon pushed boundaries and made history.

Taylor even employs a broken fourth wall method where Boseman addresses the camera, and we believe that it works immensely -- even teased effectively in the Get On Up trailer. This is the James Brown story, and this is exactly how James Brown would have wanted it told -- by him!

Boseman is a hurricane and comes at the part and the audience with a range that is surely Oscar-worthy at the most and at the least superstar-making. He captures the cadence, the rhythms, the dance moves and even the explosive and larger-than-life personality that was the man who passed away leaving a gaping hole in pop culture when he left us on Christmas Day in 2006.

Get On Up Still

Get On Up is an astonishing achievement and it is inspiring too because it is another example of something Hollywood does well. Filmmakers have long shown the world what makes this country so great: Despite all the odds stacked against one person, you can still will yourself to become an enormous success.

Taylor is a genius for what he has crafted with this film and he has hired the best to surround Boseman to compliment his electrifying performance. Taylor’s The Help stars, Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis, play maternal influences at opposite sides of the helpful spectrum for Brown and provide another layer of emotional resonance to the biopic.

And one of the biggest revelations about the life of Brown is shown through the character played by Nelsan Ellis, as Brown's best friend and band mate, Bobby Byrd. Ellis plays the complexities of the role of a person who stands by someone, who is not the easiest to stand by, with a true tenor that is absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking.

Our Get On Up review has to report that Taylor, Boseman and the entire cast and crew have truly brought the funk, and when it comes to the story of the man who brought it to the masses, there can be no higher compliment.

You can check out Taylor's previous work and watch The Help online.

Guardians of the Galaxy Review: Out of This World!

$
0
0

Guardians of the Galaxy, first and foremost, should now be seen as the gold standard for origins stories. And we’re not just talking superhero movies, but in all cases where characters are being introduced that are completely foreign to a vast audience. Director James Gunn has done a masterful and pitch-perfect job opening up the new-to-the-masses world of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Cast of Guardians of the Galaxy

Chris Pratt stars as Peter Quill, aka Star Lord, and as the film begins he is just a boy. After going through something tragic, he is picked up by an alien ship and jetted off to space. His only possession is a Walkman with a mix tape from his mother.

We immediately meet him again as a grown man and he has been raised by Yondu (Michael Rooker) to be quite the hellion. As seen in the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer, he gets into trouble and winds up sharing a prison cell with four other misfits. We meet Gamora (Zoe Saldana), a woman raised by the evil Ronan the Accuser, who is a highly trained assassin and not what she seems on the outside.

There’s Drax (Dave Bautista), who has been crossing the galaxy trying to find Ronan to kill him for wiping out his family. Then, there’s Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and his muscle, the tree Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel). It is fate that brought them together, because Ronan has plans to bring war to the galaxy and only these five can stop it.

You would think a talking raccoon and a CG tree that only says three words ("I am Groot") might hold back this fast moving story. You’d be so wrong, and in fact, they may be the best things about the film. But then again, there is nothing but greatness in this movie.

Gunn co-wrote a world that is teeming with life and otherworldly beings, but at its heart it’s a story about a group of outcasts who find their greatness once they find each other. It is a stunning and powerful film that also does not forget to have a whole lot of fun.

Pratt is astounding as their leader and shows off some real chops. Yet, his trademark sense of humor is never far behind and that fits perfectly with the DNA of Quill from the comics. Saldana is as fierce as ever and we cannot say enough about the subtle power emitted by Bautista as Drax. This is not a character that is merely the muscle. There is an emotional undercurrent to Bautista’s characterization that only enhances the entire film’s journey.

Guardans of the Galaxy Groot Gamora Star Lord

You will not recognize Cooper or Diesel by their voice performances and that is why they are so brilliantly sublime.

Like Chewbacca in the Star Wars series, Groot essentially does not talk, but he does communicate. Diesel only delivers the three words I am Groot throughout the film, and even though we don’t know literally what he is saying -- like Chewie -- we know what message he’s trying to get across.

Cooper, on the other hand, is beyond articulate and makes us forget completely that there is a talking raccoon kicking ass on the screen. He is a living, breathing and complicated character that we would follow to the ends of the galaxy.

Then, we could not conclude our Guardians of the Galaxy review without mentioning the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack. As we mentioned earlier, that mix tape of Quill’s is his only possession and his emotional connection to a world and people he will never see again. It also is the soundtrack to our movie and Gunn does more than just utilize the dozen or so tracks on that mix tape as a way to enter or leave a scene.

In fact, the songs are incorporated into the storytelling and never come out of left field. We guarantee you’ll be singing them all week.

Guardians of the Galaxy is one heck of a ride that recalls the same elements that made Star Wars so iconic. Yup, we went there. It is that good.

Magic in the Moonlight Review: Woody Allen's Illusionary Rom-Com

$

Woody Allen has been on a hit and slightly miss roll of late that dates back to Midnight in Paris.

He followed that triumph (also his highest grossing movie!) up with the just all right To Rome with Love. Then, he came back the following summer with the Oscar-winning Blue Jasmine. Now, he heads to the south of France for the rom-com Magic in the Moonlight. And that hit and slight miss streak continues.

Magic in the Moonlight Colin Firth Emma Stone

In this 1920s-set film, Colin Firth stars as Stanley, one of the world’s most popular and successful magicians. His hobby has also made him quite world renowned. Stanley travels the globe debunking charlatans who claim to possess the power of clairvoyance with the dead.

His friend has got a fun getaway for him. Emma Stone’s Sophie has found herself a benefactor in Jacki Weaver’s Grace. Sophie is siphoning cash from Grace’s millionaire and having nightly séances communicating with her dead husband. Stanley doesn’t buy it and heads to the south of France to debunk Sophie and prove another faker for what they are.

Firth is fantastic, as always. He has a ball as Stanley and his ability to play elitists who look down their noses is pitch perfect for the role. And Stone also has fun as the Allen female antagonist whom Stanley just can’t figure out. In fact, Stanley begins to think that she is the real deal! Or… is it love clouding his mind?

The ensemble as a whole is also enjoying their time in the south of France sun with Allen’s story -- especially Weaver, who is fresh off her Oscar nod for Silver Linings Playbook. But, the entire affair feels a tad light. And yes, an Allen romantic comedy of this sort should be on the fairer side, but there is something about Magic in Moonlight that feels more fluff than fun.

Allen, to his credit, is still writing and directing a movie a year -- astounding for a man in his seventies. To any filmmaker, making movies at this pace can be draining and a lack of quality can exist in their films. Perhaps that could explain Allen’s one great, one just OK streak that he’s currently on.

Unfortunately, our Magic in the Moonlight review finds that this one is the just OK in his greatness every other year path.

The weekend movie preview could not be more thrilled that it is August 1. That means one thing: Guardians of the Galaxy is finally here!

But that Marvel movie is not alone in bringing the awesome this first week of the last month of the summer movie season. Get On Up lands in theaters and could not be more of a perfect biopic of the legendary Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown.

And Woody Allen is back in the romantic comedy business with Magic in the Moonlight, starring a fantastic Colin Firth and an utterly sublime Emma Stone.

Let's break it down.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Marvel unleashes its newest set of superheroes and it is nothing short of brilliant. Director James Gunn has set the standard for how one executes an incredible origins story, as we explore in our Guardians of the Galaxy review. Chris Pratt gives a star-making performance as Star Lord and you will not believe how real and emotionally compelling the CG characters are with Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket Raccoon and Vin Diesel voicing Groot.

Get On Up: Brown's incredible life story gets the big screen treatment from the director who brought us The Help, Tate Taylor. And Chadwick Boseman follows up his role as Jackie Robinson in 42 with a stunning turn as the Godfather of Soul. The film plays with the timeline and breaks the fourth wall with Brown addressing the audience throughout. As we stated in our Get On Up review, it all works and is quite the funky film.

Magic in the Moonlight: Allen is back for another summer rom-com and this time out, it more misses than hits. Colin Firth shines as a magician who lives for debunking people who claim they can speak with the dead. And Emma Stone is fantastic as the woman who may just be the real thing. But, as we reported in our Magic in the Moonlight review, this is not one of Allen's best, by a long shot.

The latest poster for Gone Girl has landed, and for fans of the book, they'll probably agree that it impeccably captures the spirit of the haunting story.

The star of the film, Ben Affleck, is front and center and you'll notice Rosamund Pike's eyes looming over him from the sky above. As teased in that riveting Gone Girl trailer, Affleck is married to Pike, and when she goes missing, he is suspect number one in the public's eyes.

David Fincher (check out one of his best works and watch Fight Club online) directs the film from the bestselling book, and the emotionally charged thriller is on many people's must-see lists (including ours) for the fall.

Look for Gone Girl, which also stars Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris, in theaters October 3.

Guardians of the Galaxy has already connected with audiences, at least evidenced by receipts from the Thursday night showings of the latest Marvel movie.

The Chris Pratt-starring flick that introduces Marvel’s latest group of superheroes opened to $11.2 million, making it the most successful Thursday night opening of 2014.

Guardians of the Galaxy Premiere

At this rate, it would be surprising if Guardians of the Galaxy didn’t beat The Bourne Ultimatum’s top August opening weekend of $69.2 million.

With Guardians of the Galaxy expanding to 4,080 theaters today, we would be shocked if the latest Marvel movie didn't finish its opening weekend with a total box office take north of $90 million.

Check out our Guardians of the Galaxy review, and we have a feeling, you’ll be one of those helping the James Gunn-directed film break records.

Ghostbusters 3: Now a Female-Starring Reboot?

Hollywood was abuzz this weekend and it was due to the news that that long talked about Ghostbusters 3 project had taken a huge left turn.

Ghostbusters Poster

Word is that the film will still be called Ghostbusters 3, but instead of it continuing the legacy started with those fantastic Ghostbusters quotes, fans would be getting a reboot.

Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig is in negotiations to direct Ghostbusters 3 and it would arrive onscreen as a reboot featuring three new performers as the Ghostbusters -- and all female!

We have to say we’re seriously intrigued by this idea. Feig knows his way around directing actresses, judging by the success of his last two films. And judging by the comedic action sequences showcased in the Sandra Bullock-Melissa McCarthy-starring The Heat, we think this could be a good move.

Also, without Harold Ramis involved in the project and producers' seeming inability to get Bill Murray to return, this is a way to circumvent all of that and start anew.

Check out how it all got started and watch Ghostbusters online.

We came, we saw, we kicked its ass.

Audiences were more than Hooked on a Feelin’ with Marvel Studio’s latest as Guardians of the Galaxy exploded on the weekend box office and broke the August record for a film debut. James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy banked just over $94 million in its first weekend, easily breaking The Bourne Ultimatum’s $69 million bow in 2007.

Second place belonged to last week’s top film, Luc Besson’s Lucy. The Scarlett Johansson action flick added another $18.3 million to its impressive first week haul to bring its cume to $79.6 million.

Third place was the other new movie that had the pleasure of opening against Guardians of the Galaxy, Get On Up. The James Brown biopic banked $14 million in its first week of release. And that is not a bad take, as biopics go.

Fourth found Dwayne Johnson’s Hercules, which looks like it will not be getting the sequel that the studio thought it would. Its $10.7 million second week earnings put it at $52.3 million for its two weeks of release.

Closing out the top five was Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The former two-week-in-a-row top film stayed in the top half of the box office top 10 with an $8.7 million take. In four weeks, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has earned $189 million.

Box office top 10:

1. Guardians of the Galaxy, $94 million
2. Lucy, $18.3 million
3. Get On Up, $14 million
4. Hercules, $10.7 million
5. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, $8.7 million
6. Planes: Fire & Rescue, $6.4 million
7. The Purge: Anarchy, $5.6 million
8. Sex Tape, $3.6 million
9. And So It Goes, $3.3 million

One of the features that immediately shot to the must-see list when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 DVD was announced, was a deleted scene simply called Peter Meets His Father.

At the time, we were stunned at 1) why that scene would be cut and 2) what purpose that would serve, given what we saw in the whole film that is The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

As The Amazing Spider-Man 2 DVD and Blu-Ray lands August 18, we have that deleted scene now -- and spoilers abound, so be warned!

Andrew Garfield is back as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and if the previous two movies didn’t make you realize this, the above deleted scene shows why the actor was such a great choice. This kid can act -- my goodness!

The deleted scene explores a lot, and is not the best quality in the world, but fans can clearly get a feel for what director Marc Webb was going for with the graveyard scene.

While you wait for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to come home, watch The Amazing Spider-Man online!
