The boys from Hot Tub Time Machine are back (minus John Cusack, plus Adam Scott and a slew of others) in Hot Tub Time Machine 2.

The film’s latest poster has premiered and it shows off how our favorite '80s-visiting gang is now… heading into the future!

Lou (Rob Corddry) is in trouble. The man who invented the internet and Lougle (LOL!) has to go to the past to fix a problem he has in their newly altered present. But, when the guys hit the hot tub time machine, they wind up in the future. And things are not what they would expect them to be.

Joining the cast besides Scott is funnyman Thomas Lennon and Gillian Jacobs, and of course Chevy Chase is back as the Hot Tub Repairman.

ThoseHot Tub Time Machine quotes are still funny, so while we wait for the film’s February 20 release, watch Hot Tub Time Machine online and prepare to go back (in time) to the hilarity.

Spider-Man In the MCU: Have Sony and Marvel Reached a Deal?

We always take superhero movie rumors with a grain of salt, but we think this latest one is worth taking quite seriously. As those who have followed the Marvel comic books over the years know, Spider-Man is integral to the storyline that will bear fruit when we see Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2 in the near future.

The Amazing Spider-Man Logo

When Sony had that horrible hack, one of the emails that became illegally public talked about the possibility of Spider-Man being “rented” or even fully returned to Marvel, which is currently owned by Disney. It seemed like a pipe dream for fanboys and girls.

Now, it appears that it could be closer to reality than fantasy.

A rumor has the property of Spider-Man, owned by Sony, heading over to Marvel to join their Marvel Cinematic Universe sooner rather than later.

Honestly, we would not be surprised if this is true as we’ve always thought that there is no reason that superhero characters owned by different studios couldn’t be licensed out. After all, as the yearly box office charts have shown for the last decade or more, there is more than enough money to go around.

Sony initially did meet with Marvel about the possibility, but walked away late in negotiations and decided to keep the webslinger all to themselves. But, apparently, the two have come back to the table and we wouldn’t be surprised if an announcement was revealed soon.

Until then, see Spidey’s last film and watch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 online.

The Oscar nominations will be revealed tomorrow, January 15, and so far Movie Fanatic’s Oscar Watch has revealed our Best Picture nomination predictions, Best Actor nomination predictions and Best Actress nomination predictions.

Today, we take a look at the Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress categories.

These particular spots are extremely difficult to choose.

Where the Best Actor and Best Actress nominations were largely being fought over by a group of seven or eight performers, the supporting slots are wide open.

But, without further ado, we make our bold predictions. First up, we look at the men.

J.K. Simmons, Whiplash
The minute we saw Whiplash, we knew that J.K. Simmons was going to win this category. End of story.

Next, it’s time to put the spotlight on the women. Here are our predictions for Best Supporting Actress nominees.

Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
Patricia Arquette, fresh from her Golden Globe win in this cateogry, is a lock for an Oscar nomination.

The Wedding Ringer Exclusive: Kevin Hart & Josh Gad Compare Themselves to Kid 'n Play?!

$

From our The Wedding Ringer set visit with Kevin Hart, we knew immediately that one of our favorite comic actors would be perfect with the voice of Olaf from Frozen, Josh Gad.

The pair have a comic chemistry that leaps off the screen (our review is coming soon).

We caught up with the duo for an exclusive interview where we talked comic duo influences, like the pair who gave us Stir Crazy and Silver Streak, and how they can only dream of being in the same ballpark as those two legends.

“The one we always talk about is Wilder and Pryor,” Gad said.

“But we can’t even compare ourselves to them,” Hart cautioned.

Then Gad brought up an interesting inspiration… Kid 'n Play?!

That sent us all off on a fit of laughter, which is fitting because The Wedding Ringer is full of huge hilarity and like many of Hart and Gad’s films, lots of heart.

Hart plays a guy who runs a business called Best Man, Inc. For a price, he provides a service to successful, yet lonely guys who are in dire need of a best man and groomsmen. When Gad gets engaged to Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, he not only needs Hart as his hired best man, but what they call the Golden Tuxedo package… seven groomsmen.

The wedding con is on and when it lands in theaters January 16, prepare to laugh out loud, repeatedly. And given how those Ride Along quotes have riveted us still after a year, get ready for more quotables from the most successful comic working in Hollywood today!

Gone Girl DVD Review: Get Gone Again & Again!

$

0

Gone Girl became David Fincher’s highest grossing movie when it landed in theaters and we suspect it will be equally, if not more popular, now that Gone Girl has arrived on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download.

Gone Girl DVD

The thriller is based on the blockbuster book by Gillian Flynn, who thankfully for fans everywhere, also penned the screenplay for Fincher’s film and gave us those Gone Girl quotes that rivet.

It tells the story, teased in the Gone Girl trailer, of a marriage where all is not what it seems -- and that’s putting it mildly.

Ben Affleck is Nick Dunne and Rosamund Pike (one of our Best Supporting Actress nominee predictions) is Amy Dunne. They have been married for several years, but on their fifth anniversary, their entire world goes into complete and utter horror. Amy has gone missing and the media, the cops and the public are all pointing the finger at Nick. As more of their relationship comes to light, through her discovered diary, it becomes clear that there was a deep resentment that few saw. Now that Amy is missing, the world will know the Dunnes' dirty laundry.

As we stated in our theatrical Gone Girl review, Fincher could not have been a better choice to helm the dark flick that keeps you guessing right up until the credits roll. Affleck was impeccably cast as his perceived persona of cockiness comes through in Nick and is a match made in heaven for the character. His combination of aloofness, pent up anger and steely charm makes the Flynn character leap off the page as no other actor could have.

And then there’s Pike. Like we said, she should be looking at an Oscar nomination, as we think the film will also score a Best Picture nomination. She is stunning on so many levels and her Amy is not simply layered, she’s like a 3D diagram of emotional and personal layering.

Gone Girl Stars Ben Affleck

The supporting cast all rivet, especially Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry -- with the latter giving the performance of his career.

What we treasure most about Gone Girl landing on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download, is it allows us to watch the movie as often as we like, and for a thriller with so many mysteries boiled up into one steaming hot Fincher stew -- that is a true blessing. This is exactly the kind of film that you want to own as you see something new in it every time you watch it. In fact, we might just have to go and pop it in again!

When it comes to bonus features on the Gone Girl home video release, there is only one.

For fans of Fincher, of which we are one, it is a true gift. Don’t miss the Director’s Audio Commentary track. You think you know Fincher, think again. The man who gave us Seven, Fight Club and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo provides priceless insight into how he crafts a film masterpiece with the audio commentary. Even if you are not a full blown Fincher fan, the commentary is almost like a master class in filmmaking delivered by one of the most gifted maestros working today.

And lest we forget, there is also a terrific “bonus” to the Gone Girl Blu-Ray, the Amazing Amy Tattle Tale book! For those who know the story, Amy of the title, was the subject of her mother’s bestselling children’s book series, Amazing Amy. She’s all grown up, but that part of her still gnaws at her and witnessing the movie and then exploring the book, the mystery only intensifies.

Watch Gone Girl online now and prepare to be stunned.

The Grand Budapest Hotel Ralph Fiennes

Oscar Watch: Delving Deeper into Academy Award Nominations

$
0
0

The Oscar nominations have been announced and it’s an interesting list to say the least. In a year that could have seen them pushing the envelope and rewarding a film like Nightcrawler with a Best Picture nod, the Academy went safe and kept Jake Gyllenhaal and his film off their list of nominees, although it did get a Best Screenplay nod.

Academy Awards Logo

What else struck us is that all that backlash about Steve Carell not being a lead actor, and truly being a Supporting Actor in Foxcatcher never came to fruition. In the most competitive of categories, the man who was once the leader of The Office will now forever be known as Academy Award Best Actor nominee Steve Carell!

Then, there is the puzzling Academy obsession with American Sniper.

The film was mildly received by reviewers (check out our American Sniper review), but we had a feeling that Oscar would love the Clint Eastwood film as Eastwood scored a DGA nod the other day, at the expense of the helmer of Selma and others. American Sniper not only scored for Best Picture, but also got a well deserved nod for Bradley Cooper for Best Actor, joining Carell in that category.

Bennett Miller is one of our favorite directors. The work he did on Capote and Moneyball is brilliant. But, let’s be real, Foxcatcher is not one of his best and given how competitive the field was this year, we’re utterly shocked that he is on the list of Best Director nominees. We absolutely think that Selma’s director, Ava DuVernay, should have had that spot.

But, more on snubs and surprises later on in the day. This is about the people who got nominated.

The surprise in the Best Actress category was that Marion Cotillard scored for her role in Two Days, One Night. We should have seen this one coming as the former winner for La Vie En Rose is adored by the Academy. There had been talk of Jennifer Aniston getting her first nod for Cake, but in hindsight, that was just silly talk, now wasn’t it?!

Rosamund Pike Is Gone Girl

We’re delighted to see Rosamund Pike score a Best Actress nod for her role in Gone Girl. That movie is not nearly as riveting as it is without her. Also a treat is the presence of Laura Dern for Wild. Dern’s Supporting Actress nod is so deserved as the entire journey that Reese Witherspoon’s character takes in the movie does not work without the role of Dern casting a shadow over the entire film.

The Academy also showed its love for international animation as some films got bumped in that category (again, more on that later with our Snubs and Surprises). Little known animated films Song of the Sea and The Tale of Princess Kaguya scored nominations in the Best Animated Feature Film category over a blockbuster animated flick or two! We’re psyched for those two films and take solace that in fact, Everything Is Awesome is truly relative (cough, cough).

And two songs we adore made it into the Best Original Song category and we could not be more thrilled. Lost Stars from Begin Again highlights one of the more underappreciated movies of the year. It is a brilliant piece of work and it will be incredible to see it performed live on Oscar night. Also a joy is the presence of Grateful from Beyond the Lights. That film is one of our favorite movies of the year, and to have billions across the globe discover it on Oscar night is a true blessing.

So, who is our front-runner at this early point in the process?

Birdman and Boyhood have to be considered front-runners. Even though The Grand Budapest Hotel scored nine nominations and leads the pack in terms of number, sentimentality always wins out come Oscar night and either Michael Keaton’s comeback or Richard Linklater’s astounding achievement should look to be hoisting that Best Picture trophy on Oscar night on February 22.

11 Biggest Oscar Nominations Snubs & Surprises: Little Love for Selma, The LEGO Movie Missing

The Oscar nominations have been announced and there are certainly a good amount of snubs and surprises to go around.

Jake Gyllenhaal Stars Nightcrawler

There is a lot of love from audiences and critics alike for The LEGO Movie.

Yet, the Academy didn’t like what they saw as the film that gave us those The LEGO Movie quotes was ignored for a Best Animated Feature picture.

There were some big names that got dissed this year by the Academy, and some of the bigger and more astounding films.

So, which are the biggest Oscar nomination snubs this year?

I’m telling ya, it was a weird year. It’s a weird year indeed.

Click through and discover our 11 biggest Oscar snubs of 2015.

Enjoy one of the great films that we think were snubbed and watch Gone Girl online

Selma Director Dissed
Leading the pack is the lack of love for Selma. Director Ava DuVernay did not hear her name this morning and the Academy missed a chance to make history by nominating the first black female nominee in that category. Plus, how do you make a movie like Selma with its power and presence and nominate it for Best Picture and not honor the person who made that movie happen?

Into the Heart of the Sea Moves: When Can We See Ron Howard's Movie?

In the Heart of the Sea is just one of three reasons Chris Hemsworth led our pack of stars who will have a huge 2015. And even though it will still land in 2015, the Ron Howard movie just had its release date changed.

Into the Heart of the Sea Still

Originally due in theaters March 13, now Warner Bros. has decided to move the true story behind the Moby Dick legend to awards season and release it December 11. Perhaps the studio saw something in the film that makes them believe they have something truly special. It’s not like Howard is a stranger to the world of Oscar nominations!

Hemsworth stars as the leader of a whaling vessel who comes under attack by one of the largest beasts ever recorded, as teased in the Into the Heart of the Sea trailer.

The all-star cast features Cillian Murphy, Ben Wishaw (Paddington), Tom Holland and Brendan Glesson.

Taking the March 13 spot for Warner’s is the Liam Neeson film that just saw its Run All Night trailer premiere last week.

Get Hard Trailer: Kevin Hart Schools Will Ferrell

The latest Get Hard trailer has us thinking that all that Richard Pryor/Gene Wilder talk that we got in our Kevin Hart exclusive interview for The Wedding Ringer with Josh Gad, should wait until people see Get Hard

Hart stars as a small business owner who is recruited by Will Ferrell’s financier who has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for his role in looting his clients.

See, Ferrell assumes that Hart has been to prison and, for a price, he thinks that Hart will teach him how to Get Hard.

The comedy is due March 27 and also stars Alison Brie and Craig T. Nelson.

And if it is half as funny as those Ride Along quotes, then we will be laughing throughout.

Stars React to Oscar Nominations: Emma Stone Is “Effing Excited!”

The Oscar nominations have been revealed and there are a lot of happy people in Hollywood (and elsewhere). With The Grand Budapest Hotel leading the pack with nine nominations, you can imagine that crew is a little bit off the ground today.

But, star Ralph Fiennes might not be. He was among the major Oscar nomination snubs that we’re still recovering from. I’m sure he will take solace in the fact that he is busy at work in England right now on the follow-up to Skyfall, which finds him making his full movie debut as the iconic character M in Spectre.

For those who did get nominated, we’ve got a nice selection of reactions from the stars and filmmakers who awoke this morning to the best news they could hear in their profession.

Watch Boyhood online and one can see why Ethan Hawke is particularly thrilled.

But when it comes to all the reactions, the cake has to be taken by Emma Stone. As usual, she shows us why she’s so “effing” awesome.

Emma Stone
Nominee for best supporting actress for Birdman: "Well, this is surreal. I am completely knocked out. Thank you to the Academy for this incredible honor. I am very proud and lucky to be a part of Birdman and can't believe it came to this. I am so f***ing excited. Are you allowed to say f*** when you're making a statement for the Oscars? I'm just really f***ing excited."

Blackhat: Michael Mann Talks Making a “Cutting Edge” Thriller

$

The last time we saw a Michael Mann movie on the big screen it was 2009’s Public Enemies. He’s back, as teased in the Blackhat trailer, with a film that could not be timelier with its spotlight on international hacking.

Blackhat Michael Mann Chris Hemsworth

It may have been a few years since his last film, but that’s just because he’s been so focused on bringing the reality of the hacking world to life in the purest of ways.

“After I did Public Enemies I did Luck for almost two years and then from Luck I started working on three screenplays in which this is one. We were in Washington when the story really occurred to us on August 8th, 2011. So we’ve been on this for three and a half years,” Mann told Movie Fanatic.

Mann has helmed some of the greatest crime dramas in the last three decades, from Collateral and Heat to Miami Vice and one of his first, Manhunter. But what he does with the cyber crime thriller Blackhat has the legendary and veteran filmmaker entering new territory cinematically. He was ready for a crime movie that couldn’t be more current if it tried.

“First of all it takes place in our world as it is right now -- right at the cutting edge of this moment. Everything interconnected with everything else, that’s the world we live in now. It’s never going to go back to being the way it used to be,” Mann said.

The plot follows a convicted Blackhat hacker (Chris Hemsworth) who’s under a conditional release from federal prison to pursue, in Mann’s words, “a cyber-criminal adversary who’s high speed, dangerous, world class. He’s a ghost, he’s out there somewhere. They don’t know who he is, where he is [or] why he’s doing what he’s doing.”

Mann found the challenge in this modern tale truly welcome. It involved altering how he tells a crime story to reflect the changing landscape of crime itself.

“The mechanics of storytelling was an opportunity to also pull them out of the very current world we live in right now -- rather than something you might have done 20 years ago when they’re trying to find out the location of where a guy might be. You might interrogate an informant,” Mann said.

“Instead of that, Hathaway (Hemsworth’s character) cons a guy in the NSA to download a password and by downloading that PDF, Hathaway’s able to get in and get some software to restore some code from the reactor. And what does he get? He gets the location. Still don’t know who the guy is, where he is, what he’s doing. But they know that this guy’s command and control, his server, is in Jakarta, Indonesia. That’s a clue. The storytelling itself, I found it very exciting to be able to pull that together.”

Although the storytelling means may have changed in this cyber-driven story world, one thing in a Mann film hasn’t – it has to feel real. And that means going on location. In fact, for Blackhat, Mann shot in over 70 locations across the globe.

Blackhat Michael Mann Photo

“First of all, this is a visual medium -- it’s an interweaving of text, visuals, music, the story, dialogue and you want places to feel evocative of what the scene is about. That’s where it begins,” Mann said.

“I found Asia a very exciting place to go. The ultimate thing is that a location makes the scene come to life. If the scene comes alive for us, it comes alive for all of us. The actors are walking in the room, they look out the window of the Hong Kong safe house and they see all this life that’s really there. It’s not digitally put in. It’s not a green screen where a gaffer has put in a piece of tape and says, ‘You see that piece of tape? That’s the rest of the street.’ That’s the real thing. We’re really there. You’re seeing that out the window. You walk to work and walk up the narrow staircase with all the smells and everything else and that’s really the place. We’re all complex organisms. We’re perceptually way more brilliant than we even know we are. We take everything in.”

One thing we appreciated in Blackhat is how Mann has weaved a web where the Chinese and American governments are working together. Too often, they are painted as our adversaries. Mann told Movie Fanatic that was on purpose. “Our relations with China are a fascinating balance where we’re adversarial with them in some areas, like naval presence. But, we’re very close partners with cyber intrusion and trade and finance. It’s a balance between these two relationships,” Mann said.

“We’re China’s biggest trading partner. They’re ours. It’s interesting. And one thing that’s interesting is when the Obama administration asks China for help with North Korea on the recent attack, it was something we thought way back when, if there was a common threat, they would work together.”

Check out one of Mann's best works and watch Heat online starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, and go see Blackhat in theaters January 16.

Black Widow Will Appear in Captain America: Civil War!

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it was fantastic to see Steve Rogers make a new friend in Falcon. But, it was even more terrific that an old The Avengers pal of his appeared in the flick, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.

Scarlett Johansson Chris Evans Star Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The Russo brothers were at an event in Beijing and talked about their work on the upcoming sequel, which we already know will feature Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War.

It will be the precursor in so many ways to the Avengers close-out that is called Avengers: Infinity War.

Given how much we adored the chemistry between Chris Evans and Johansson, you can imagine our delight that the Russo brothers have confirmed that Black Widow will be in Captain America: Civil War.

“We’ve been preparing for the movie since the last one debuted last year. So, we’ve been working on it for a long time now. We’re very happy how it’s coming along. Captain America 3 is gonna be called Captain America: Civil War and it’s going to star Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson will be back, Winter Soldier [Sebastian Stan] will be back, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man will also be joining us in the next film,” Anthony said.

Wait, did he also just admit that Stan’s Winter Soldier will be back?

Well, that is also fantastic news!

Let’s see where we left off and watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier online and prepare for Cap’s return in his third solo movie May 6, 2016.

The Wedding Ringer Exclusive: Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting Talks “Genius” Buddy Comedy

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting is quite the busy woman. Being on the number one comedy in the nation, The Big Bang Theory -- that continues to add viewers as it moves from season to season -- is enough for most actresses to make that work their year.

But when Cuoco-Sweeting saw the script for The Wedding Ringer, she know she somehow had to find time in her sitcom filming schedule to play the role of the bride of the titular wedding.

We met Cuoco-Sweeting for an exclusive chat to talk about the comedy that stars Josh Gad and Kevin Hart.

Gad plays her husband-to-be and Hart is the Best Man he hires because he’s too busy to make friends. Not only does he need the Best Man part of Hart’s Best Man, Inc., but he needs what is called the “Golden Tuxedo”… seven "fake" groomsmen too!

Sweeting-Cuoco dishes the “genius” of Hart and Gad’s comedic chemistry, something she knows a bit about after years on one of the most successful sitcoms of all time. She also talks how Gad was a complete diva, what with all that success from Frozen!

The Wedding Ringer opens January 16 in theaters everywhere.

Blackhat Review: Inside a Hack Job

As we’ve seen since the birth of the computer, and particularly since the arrival of the internet, creating tension in a movie with someone staring at a screen is one tough task. That is just one of the problems with the latest film, Blackhat, from one of our favorite directors -- Michael Mann.

Chris Hemsworth Blackhat Movie Photo

The Blackhat trailer teases the tip of the ice berg. Chris Hemsworth is Hathaway. He’s serving time in a maximum security prison for hacking and when the world appears to be under attack from a master hacker, who better to help the government track this person down and stop them?

There was a financial market attacked. There was a power plant in Asia attacked and scores died. The clock is ticking and no one knows who or what will be next. The FBI (led by Viola Davis’ Agent Barrett) oversee Hathaway’s conditional release so they can cross the globe and track down, find and end this Blackhat hacker before he kills or profits at other people’s financial loses again.

Mann and his screenwriter Morgan Davis Foehl have worked on this script for years. And the subject matter could not be timelier with the news of the hack at Sony. Yet, we still have a hard time finding the cinematic equivalent of a page turner at the sight of someone typing at a keyboard. Sure, there are car chases and foot chases, but when these things all come to a head -- it’s someone working on a computer in a race against time.

The filmmaker that gave us pot boilers like Manhunter, Collateral and Heat has a bit of a misfire with Blackhat and that pains us to no end. There still is something special about a Mann movie that is seen in elements of his latest. His use of colors is brilliant, although we think some of that gets lost with his use of digital cameras. And the man also knows how to use music along with his imagery that paint a picture that is uniquely Mann’s.

Unfortunately, our Blackhat review reports, that’s not quite enough to add up to something as incendiary as this film should be.

Blackhat Viola Davis Photo

Look, Mann still knows how to capture on location filming better than many working today. The helmer still knows how to manufacture tension (when not at a computer, which is makes it complicated for a hacking movie). And no one makes a city look better, day or especially at night, than Michael Mann. If those are all things you appreciate as well, then Blackhat is one satisfying venture. And that was enough for us on many levels.

But, the issue is that Mann has set a bar so high with his previous work, we expect to be utterly blown away. He has some of the most riveting crime dramas of the last 30 years. With his move into cyber crime, he may have stretched his lens into an arena that even the greatest filmmaker in the world could not make tense.

There are several things that work for the film and they involve China. The two Chinese actors who play pivotal roles, Wei Tang and Leehom Wang, are top notch. And the other element we truly adored about Blackhat is the fact that the Chinese are not our adversary. The U.S. government works hand-in-hand with them in trying to stop this hacker. In a time where Hollywood seems all-too willing to have the Chinese be our go-to villains, it’s a treat to see them wearing the white hats in Blackhat.

The Wedding Ringer Review: Say "I Do" To This Comedy

What is truly fascinating about The Wedding Ringer is that although it is truly Kevin Hart’s first R-rated comedy, it has just as much heart -- if not more -- than his other films.

Josh Gad Kevin Hart The Wedding Ringer

For example, Ride Along was a true buddy cop comedy farce, and the aspect of Hart trying to impress his girlfriend’s brother so he can marry her… pure heart from Hart!

The Wedding Ringer is hilarious, touching and the comedy bar for 2015 has been set pretty high by the film from director Jeremy Garelick, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jay Lavender.

Hart’s Jimmy runs a business called Best Man, Inc. They provide a service for gents who are getting married and have, for whatever reason, no friends to be a Best Man or groomsmen for that matter. Enter Josh Gad, as teased in The Wedding Ringer trailer. He runs a successful business and he’s marrying Gretchen (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting). She has seven bridesmaids and she needs his list of groomsmen and even a name for the Best Man as the wedding is merely weeks away. Desperation breeds creativity and this is where The Wedding Ringer gets truly creative.

Garelick and Lavender have crafted a landscape that is rife with characters that may appear two-dimensional, but upon the passage of screen time, the audience realizes that we know these guys. And although this friendship is “bought,” there might be something to this band of misfits that some would argue could be called camaraderie.

The Wedding Ringer Stars Josh Gad Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting

Hart and Gad have comedic chemistry in droves. They are a new odd couple and we hope that The Wedding Ringer is the beginning of many movies that these two could appear in together. The comparisons could be made to the Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor movies of the 70s and 80s, but we think a more apt comparison is to the films of Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin. There is a physical comedy element, sure, but there is an element of character adoration between these two mismatched men that seriously works.

There was even great care given to the casting of the rent-a-groomsmen. Jorge Garcia (Lost) and Affion Crockett (This Means War) are just two of the team that deliver their parts when they were probably given so little to work with.

Cuoco-Sweeting, ever the sitcom veteran with her work on The Big Bang Theory, effortlessly moves to the big screen shows further expands her own comedic chops with a turn that is equally sincere and scandalous.

But, let’s be serious. Our The Wedding Ringer review has to report that this is the Josh Gad and Kevin Hart show, from beginning to end. Hart continues his hot streak that shows no signs of slowing and Gad also keeps his moving forward as well. Let’s just hope that this film is the beginning of a great cinematic friendship between the two.

Fifty Shades of Grey: Fastest Selling R-Rated Ticket Ever!

We knew that Fifty Shades of Grey would be a hot ticket, but who knew it would be this side of scorching? It figures, given the steamy nature of the EL James book that is hitting the big screen on February 13.

Dakota Johnson Jamie Dornan Fifty Shades of Grey

That Fifty Shades of Grey trailer that recently arrived teased that pre-sale tickets were available for the love, er, lust, story between Christian Grey and the doe-eyed Anastasia Steele, opened a flood gates of sales for the film that has quickly had it become the fastest selling R-rated movie ticket on Fandango history.

It’s tracking to be Fandango’s fastest-selling R-rated movie of all time. Very few books can claim true national phenomenon status – and Fifty Shades ranks with Twilight, The Hunger Games and Gone Girl as novels that entered the zeitgeist from coast to coast, said Fandango Chief Correspondent Dave Karger.

Fans of the book have been waiting for years to see their favorite sexy characters come to life on the big screen, and they are clearly fueling our sensational advance sales.

So, what other films have sold that quickly?

1. Fifty Shades of Grey (2014)

2. Sex and the City 2 (2010)

3. The Hangover Part II (2011)

4. The Hangover Part III (2013)

5. Gone Girl (2014)

Star Wars The Force Awakens: Mark Hamill Talks How This Time Is Different

Mark Hamill is going to have a fantastic 2015, what with his role in the highly anticipated comic turned big screen adventure Kingsman: The Secret Service and that little independent movie due at the end of the year called Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: Episode VII Mark Hamill Twitpic

We caught up with Hamill before a screening of Kignsman: The Secret Service to talk about that Colin Firth-starring Matthew Vaughn directed flick, and got in a few questions about that other flick he has coming in 2015.

Stay with Movie Fanatic as we reveal the Kingsman: The Secret Service portion of the conversation closer to the film’s February 13 release date.

But, for now, we’re all about him talking his most unexpected return to the world of Star Wars he first visited all those years ago.

“The most interesting aspect from my point of view is that Star Wars is now in the hands of the generation who were fans. It’s the next generation of filmmakers who were sort of weened on these pictures,” Hamill admitted.

Hamill is clearly pleased with what he witnessed on the J.J. Abrams set and his eagerness to share it with the world is palpable. Of course, there’s that whole security issue. Hamill said he half expected if he revealed anything about the plot that he would never see the light of day again.

But, he did talk about how making Star Wars: The Force Awakens was like being in a whole different galaxy far, far, away. And he didn’t mean the advancement of cinematic technology.

Empire Strikes Back Mark Hamill

“The security on it is just crazy. I’m surprised I can even admit I’m in it!” he said and laughed.

He adored that Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer because it did just that – tease. Hamill considers himself old school in that the least he knows about a film heading in to viewing it, the better. So, the level of secrecy for him was welcomed and he believes that although fans have a hunger to know about this seventh Star Wars movie, that they will be thrilled that in this case, less is more in terms of knowledge about details.

“I like being surprised,” he said of the movie going experience.

But, he admits things are different now. There’s an anticipation monster that needs to be fed.

“When we made the original films, you had the odd reporter hanging around the studio bribing people to give them stories. Now, I said to them, ‘Do I really have to wear this robe and this hood that covers my entire head to go from the trailer to the soundstage?’ They said, ‘Yeah, there’s drones.’ Seriously! There’s drones flying over the studio trying to get pictures of whatever they can get pictures of!”

Although Hamill does remember one moment making Empire Strikes Back that perhaps hinted as to what would be coming when making Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“We had a little of that on Empire Strikes Back. We were up in Finse, Norway and someone bribed a couple of emergency helicopter pilots … to buzz-bomb our set and take pictures. They appeared in the newspaper The Sun,” Hamill said.

“They didn’t get much. They had pictures of snowmobiles and they wrote ‘Strange, alien machinery on the set of Star Wars 2!’ as they called it. It was crazy! It was just snowmobiles with really identifiable logos on the side.”
