With the arrival of The Wedding Ringer in theaters, we are in the mood for wedding movies. Many flicks have tried to capture the entity that is the chaos of love event, but in the history of Hollywood, few have truly succeeded.

We found 15 wedding movies that should be on everyone’s radar now that weddings and movies are finding themselves again with Kevin Hart and Josh Gad’s flick.

Some are classic, some are modern, but they all really share a quality that is fascinating: They’re funny. Guess with all that stress involved with a wedding, you have to laugh.

Which flicks made our list? Watch Bridesmaids online and you had to know that comedy institution is there. And those Wedding Crashers quotes still have us in stitches years after it bowed.

That’s just a taste of the movie wedding cake, prepare to dig in as we present our 15 best wedding movies!

Wedding Crashers
We'll never forget the first time we witnessed Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn inviting themselves to some of the most fun weddings ever in Wedding Crashers. And remarkably, this film with heaps of humor and loads of heart still ages well. Many wedding movies since have tried to replicate the formula, but between the comic chemistry of Vaughn and Wilson and the finding love centerpiece of Wedding Crashers, none have managed to come close.

Weekend Movie Preview: January 16, 2014

This time out, the weekend movie preview is feeling the love. We've got a whole lot of affection for The Wedding Ringer and an adorable bear named Paddington, who finally makes it to the big screen.

Michael Mann also returns in the cyber-thriller Blackhat and Clint Eastwood's true story American Sniper expands nationwide.

Let's break it down...

Paddington: Even though it's early in 2015, we feel that the best family movie of the year has already arrived. Paddington took years to make it to the big screen in a live action flick and it was sure worth the wait.

Nicole Kidman Gives Her Steely Glare
It's our first look at Nicole Kidman in Paddington. Who she plays, we're not sure, but it doesn't appear to be good.

As our Paddington review reported, the cast is perfect, the story pops, the heartstrings are properly pulled... what's not to like? Color us surprised and we cannot wait for the world to discover this little gem.

The Wedding Ringer: Kevin Hart is back in a January comedy after the success he had last year with Ride Along. Hart is the owner of a business called Best Man, Inc. He provides Best Man services to guys who are getting married and have no friends. Enter Josh Gad, he's successful, but has not had time to make or keep friends and he's about to marry Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting.

Josh & Kevin Boogie Down
Hart even teaches Gad some sweet moves!

There is heaps of heart and tons of hilarity in the latest Hart comedy and as we said in our The Wedding Ringer review, the film is truly a bromance for the ages as Hart and Gad's chemistry is off the charts.

Blackhat: Mann returns to the crime thriller genre that he has excelled at all these years and his storyline could not be timelier. Chris Hemsworth is a jailed hacker who is released to help the government track down an international hacker who is causing death and destruction everywhere his mouse clicks.

Chris Hemsworth Takes Aim
Chris Hemsworth takes aim in Blackhat.

Our Blackhat review wishes there were more thrills in this thriller. But, Mann fans will appreciate the return of one of the masters.

American Sniper: Eastwood story of Chris Kyle expands nationwide after scoring all those Oscar nods, including nominations for Best Picture and Best Actor for Bradley Cooper.

Bradley Cooper Talks a Heavily Armed Walk

The film is solid, but we don't think it's out of this world. For more, check out our American Sniper review.

Unfriended Trailer: Skype Scares Us Silly!

The first trailer for Unfriended has arrived and we can see why it is already the most buzzed about horror flick in 2015.

The film is from Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and Blumhouse Productions (check out their handy work and watch Paranormal Activity online). So you know that it is going to be scary. But, what is so fascinating about Unfriended is it appears to be the most unique of concepts.

A group of friends is online video chatting when one by one, they all come to some horrifying demise. It all has to do with the suicide death of a friend of theirs one year prior.

This chat will test these friends’ camaraderie, and who will survive the night of online horror? After all, it was their posting of a video that was essentially virtual bullying of their friend that led her to commit suicide.

Is it her ghost haunting them? Or, somehow, is she back?

The horror flick also released a series of stills and its first poster. Check them out in the slideshow below.

Unfriended lands in theaters April 17.

The Guest DVD Review: Stylized Terror Comes Home!

$

0

One of the most astounding, riveting and wildly original films of 2014 was The Guest. The film is from the creators of You’re Next and stars the man who will easily be Hollywood’s next big thing, Dan Stevens. The Guest DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download are available now and we must insist that everyone who is a fan of the film format witness this movie marvel.

The Guest DVD

As The Guest trailer teases, Stevens is David Collins. He just got out of the military after serving in the Middle East wars and doing several tours. Collins suddenly shows up at the Midwestern/rural front door of the Peterson family, claiming to be the best bud of their late son who died in action.

Collins said he is there to fulfill a dying wish of his friend to pay a visit to his family and see that they’re well.

They immediately take him in, eager for some sort of connection to their lost son and brother. But, Anna (Maika Monroe, who astounds) doesn’t quite believe David’s story and as she starts to unravel the truth, everyone in this small town will be in danger from The Guest. Nothing like an extremely lethal psychopath who preys on a community’s adoration for its military and fallen son!

Our theatrical The Guest review delves further into the film itself, but we have to point out that Stevens makes an announcement. He’s gone on to steal scenes in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and A Walk Among the Tombstones, but you would be hard-pressed to find a better coming out party of talent than what Stevens does on The Guest. Without it, none of the film works.

And it is beyond stylized, brilliantly at that. Director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett have joined forces again and as they revolutionized horror with You’re Next, they have given a huge shot of adrenaline to the arm of the suspense thriller genre with The Guest. We cannot wait to see what genre of film they infuse with creativity next.

The look, the sounds and the tone of The Guest are unlike anything you have seen before. It combines elements of '80s cinema with modern moments of sheer ripped-from-the-headlines terror, and heart, believe it or not.

Dan Stevens Stars In The Guest

When it comes to bonus features, unfortunately it is pretty lacking. But, what it does provide does fit. The Q&A with Dan Stevens is a terrific addition to the package. As we stated, this film does not work without him burning up the screen and he does that in droves. Hearing firsthand from Stevens about the making of the film, his choices as an actor and even his thoughts on Wingard and Barrett add a layer of context to the entire movie experience that even a making-of doc could never have hoped to achieve.

Speaking of Wingard and Barrett, don’t miss their feature-length commentary. And might we suggest watching this powerful flick twice (or more!) -- once purely to revel in its mastery, and a subsequent viewing with the commentary track by the filmmakers. One thing immediately becomes clear: We have a new terrific tandem of filmmakers on our hand. Whatever they do next, we’ll be first in line.

Watch The Guest online now and prepare to be blown away!

Johnny Depp is back on the big screen playing an oddball named Mortdecai. We are eager to see Depp’s latest as it is a who-done-it/madcap comedy that looks right in his wheelhouse, something we could tell from that first Mortdecai trailer.

Johnny Depp in Edward Scirssorhands

The film is the latest from a long list of characters in movies that show that the actor is one of the most popular and vastly talented performers of his generation.

Sure, 21 Jump Street introduced us to Depp on the small screen, but it was his role in A Nightmare on Elm Street that brought him to the silver screen, and he has not looked back since.

Since those early days, he has appeared in some of the most memorable roles that an actor has achieved, such as Edward Scissorhands, Donnie Brasco, Ed Wood and, yes, those Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

What is your favorite Depp movie part? Vote now and let us know! And if your fave is not on the list below, let us know in the comments section!

9 Best American Sniper Quotes: I Have to Serve My Country

American Sniper is a blockbuster.

The Clint Eastwood movie broke January box office records. Heck, the Bradley Cooper-starring true tale destroyed the previous January box office record by a two-to-one margin. It made $90 million. Yeah, that.

It is a compelling story with a powerful performance by the Oscar-nominated Cooper as Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history.

The action is tense. The emotions are palpable and it is all delivered with some fantastic dialogue that has us calling the movie's quotes some of the most powerful of the year -- even this early in the calendar.

We found 9 quotes from American Sniper that just riveted us.

Check out all of our American Sniper quotes and then click through and discover the 9 best!

Ant-Man: Judy Greer Promises “Comedy” With Heroic Story

Judy Greer is not surprised that the response to that Ant-Man teaser trailer has been so powerful.

Ant-Man Test Footage Picture

The film is the latest “new” property from Marvel to get the big screen treatment and from what she’s seen on the set, audiences are in for a real treat. Perhaps even a Guardians of the Galaxy sized treat from the smallest of Marvel heroes.

In particular, Greer was impressed with star Paul Rudd and admitted that one does not hire Rudd and not allow him to interject some serious funny moments. “There was a lot of comedy on set and we did a lot of comedic improv,” Greer said.

Greer also said that as this is her first foray into the comic book world, she can promise that this is much more than a straight origins story. There is much more meat to these bones.

“Paul is so awesome and he’s so great in this role. This has been my first comic hero that I’ve really researched and fallen for,” Greer said.

“I also think the Ant-Man origin story that we tell in our movie is really beautiful and I think there’s something really real about a man trying to better himself for his family.”

Greer has a busy 2015 coming up. You saw her in that Jurassic World trailer, and she’s also starring in Tomorrowland, opposite George Clooney.

Look for Ant-Man in theaters July 17.

Crimson Peak Photos: First Look at Guillermo del Toro’s Latest!

We could not be more excited for Guillermo del Toro’s return to the horror genre he adores and has redefined with Crimson Peak. The haunted house story (or is it haunted?) stars Tom Hiddleston (Thor: The Dark World), Jessica Chastain (A Most Violent Year, Interstellar) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland).

The first photos from Crimson Peak have arrived and we’ve got initial looks at all three stars, and judging by the period piece costuming and haunting decor, this looks like a del Toro masterpiece -- even from these first images.

Wasikowska stars as a young woman who falls in love with Hiddleston. When he takes her back to his childhood home, she meets his sister (Chastain).

Chastain’s character does not take too kindly to this new female presence in the house. Wasikowska also discovers a familial past that is just this side of terrifying.

Crimson Peak’s first trailer should arrive any week now, as the film is set to haunt our Halloween with its October 16 release date. It also reunites del Toro with Charlie Hunnam. Check out the two of them and their last work and watch Pacific Rim online.

Rudderless Exclusive: William H. Macy on “Dangerous” Directorial Debut

$

William H. Macy has starred in some of our favorite films, from Boogie Nights to Fargo. The man is a veteran of the cinematic world and with Rudderless the supremely talented actor has gone behind the camera for the first time as a big screen director.

William H. Macy Directs Rudderless

We caught up with Macy to talk about why Rudderless was the movie he had to make his directorial debut, how he will owe star Billy Crudup for the rest of his life, the hurricane of talent he scored from his own home and the unique gift of directing his wife, Felicity Huffman, in the powerful tale of how a father grapples with the death of his child through the powerful and soothing power of music.

Movie Fanatic: After decades in the business with all of your stellar work, we’re sure that you have had the opportunity to direct before. Why was Rudderless the right project for you to make your directorial debut?

William H. Macy: Music is a big thing for me. I’m no good, trust me [laughs]. I’m looking around, I have a BB King guitar, three ukuleles, we have a piano, my daughter sings, my wife sings, and we all play a lot of music. It’s a big part of my life and how I got into the business. I loved the fact that it was centered around music. I was in my element. I love how in the script, you feel this violence, this stupid mindless violence that seems to be epidemic and has no solution, so much of it falls under the category of, “shit happens.” It was in the process of talking about this film that Casey (co-writer Twenter) came up with the idea, “what if the kid was the shooter.” It scared the crap out of all of us and all of us our first reaction was, “No, no, no, no.” That’s just too dangerous. What do we know about that? It was very quickly after that that I thought, “If it frightens us so much, that’s the story we have to tackle.” It was a dangerous first film.

Movie Fanatic: Given all the challenges you are describing and how the story evolved -- do you feel you background making movies as an actor for decades prepared you to help make the tough decisions? Maybe it made it easier to see what needed to be done, even if it wasn’t the easy choice.

Rudderless Billy Crudup Anton Yelchin

William H. Macy: I think so. I’ve always flattered myself that I have good taste. It’s held me in good stead. If I like it, a lot of people will like it. I was a little more brave in making the film I made because I do believe in my taste and I personally like challenging films, not just in the subject matter, but in the way that they’re told. My biggest complaint of films when I see them as an audience member is when they give me too much information. I don’t need that. I get it, move ahead. My years on stage helped me too; the mantra there is drive to the curtain. There’s a tendency in the theater, you get close to the end and you start to slow down. That couldn’t be more wrong. Audiences can accept a lot more story if you give them little time to dwell on it.

Movie Fanatic: How was it directing Felicity in terms of what you thought it would be like and how the reality turned out to be?

William H. Macy: She’s a thoroughbred. Those scenes were loaded. She had to come on set at a full boil. I thank my lucky stars and my relationship with her that I had the brains to just sit down and take picture of it. When she and Billy just ran through the dialogue in that first appearance of hers and I thought, “Geez Louise! I just have to tell them where to stand!” I was in the presence of greatness when they were doing those scenes. I also handed her a tough role because I wanted that character to be full and yet I didn’t want to give her any screen time. She’s a very complicated character and I don’t know how Felicity does it. But, she does. You get a lot of backstory just in how she carries herself.

William H. Macy Selena Gomez Billy Crudup Rudderless

Movie Fanatic: And Billy too, he is always so incredible. How did he come to be in your first movie?

William H. Macy: I spent some time trying to cast it 25 years older. I think everyone should look exactly like me [laughs]. Somebody said that he doesn’t have to be in his 60s. The kid is in college. So, Billy’s name popped up immediately. I will be in his debt for the rest of my days. I sent him the script with a note, through his agent, he called me the day he got it and said he’d read it tonight. The son of a bitch did. He called and said, “It was a great script, I’m going to think about it and call you tomorrow.” And he did. Then he said yes. And that’s that. Billy Crudup is my champion for the rest of my days. I play a drunk on television (on Shameless) and I flatter myself on being a pretty good drunk, but he took me to school with his drunk [laughs]. I will imitate him and give him no credit in this coming season of Shameless!

Movie Fanatic: It sounds like you’ve got the bug. I would guess you would like to direct again?

William H. Macy: You guessed correctly. I got a couple of scripts that I love. Rudderless has been successful, for which I thank my lucky stars. My goal was that my investors would get their money back, and they have. I also wanted it to do well enough that I could direct again. And I will have the chance to direct again. That was the extent of my ambitions for this thing. It has exceeded my wildest expectations. I got the bug. I really want to direct. I feel that I could get really good at it.

World War Z Sequel: Look for a New Start!

When we heard that a World War Z sequel was moving forward, we were thrilled. Never before had we seen a zombie movie like that and it solidified Brad Pitt’s place as one of the last few remaining movie stars. The film went on to bank $200 million and will return with a sequel as soon as those involved can put it together. Well, like when?

Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane in World War Z

Max Brooks’ book World War Z became a cinematic sensation and in the hands of writer Steven Knight, the film’s sequel looks to do something unique in the world of cinematic follow-ups.

Talking to Indiewire, Knight talks about why he signed on and what we can expect.

“I thought, ‘why not? What fun.’ It’s not quite like the other, we’re starting with clean slate. When they’ve signed off we’re on,” Knight said.

Look for World War Z 2 to start shooting in October with a release date of sometime in 2016. Until then, catch the original and watch World War Z online

The Gunman Trailer: Sean Penn Gets Into Action Mode!

$

The international trailer for The Gunman has us much more intrigued to see Sean Penn’s rare foray into the action movie genre than any previous The Gunman trailer.

Penn plays a sniper (check out these American Sniper quotes, but we digress), who is doing a job and then soon after he pulls the trigger, realizes the scope of what he was tasked to do. He has launched a civil war that has resulted in a human rights catastrophe.

The Gunman also stars Javier Bardem (a fellow Oscar winner with Penn), as well as Idris Elba, Ray Winstone and Jasmine Trinca.

The film may be from the guy who gave us Taken, but given Penn’s record of working with the human rights issues of our time, prepare to have an action film that also leaves you thinking about world events. And we’re always for a film that leaves you with something other than a popcorn hangover.

We’ve also got the synopsis for The Gunman:

In The Gunman, Sean Penn stars as a former special forces soldier and military contractor suffering from PTSD. He tries to reconnect with his long time love, but first must go on the run from London to Barcelona and across Europe in order to clear his name. The film also stars Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Mark Rylance and Jasmine Trinca.

Based on Jean-Patrick Manchette’s novel The Prone Gunman, The Gunman was directed by Pierre Morel (Taken, The Transporter franchise). The film was produced by Joel Silver, Andrew Rona and Sean Penn and executive produced by Adrian Guerra and Peter McAleese.

Check out Morel’s film that made him and watch Taken online and then prepare to witness his latest, The Gunman, when it lands March 20.

American Sniper Continues To Break Records: “Phenomenon” for Clint Eastwood

American Sniper shocked the world with its record breaking debut in theaters last weekend. And it continues to smash records as the days pass. It was the highest grossing January film debut of all time, and now it’s the highest grossing four-day debut of all time.

American Sniper Poster

American Sniper is also the highest grossing Clint Eastwood movie ever (and that is saying something) and it has also achieved a rare feat in that it is the highest weekend grossing IMAX movie of all-time too.

The Bradley Cooper starring true story of Chris Kyle, the American Sniper who is considered the most lethal in U.S. history, has banked $105.3 million in four days in the U.S. and a total of $108.7 million since it opened limited in December.

Warner Bros. is clearly excited about how resonant this film has become.

“We are so proud of this movie,” said Sue Kroll, President of Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution. “We had a visceral reaction to it when we saw it and immediately made room for it in the year. We certainly couldn’t have known the level at which the film would resonate, but we knew it was special -- providing a different look at war and its emotional impact on those who fight and those at home, which has struck a deep chord with filmgoers everywhere. From the first trailer, we designed this campaign to convey the different facets of the film and showcase its appeal to both men and women. The response from critics, audiences and, now, the Academy, has been hugely gratifying and we could not be more thrilled.”

American Sniper has earned six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor.

11 Movies That Caused Political Firestorms: American Sniper Far From First

$

American Sniper is quite the smash hit and is causing quite the controversy.

The Clint Eastwood film features Bradley Cooper in an Oscar nominated turn as Chris Kyle, the Navy SEAL sniper who is credited with being the most lethal in U.S. military history.

Some have said that it mistakenly profiles Kyle as a patriot and others are coming down saying that those who criticize the military movie are un-American and don’t support our troops.

Those American Sniper quotes are inspiring, there is no debating that. And giving its huge record-setting box office run, audiences are embracing it as fiercely as Kyle went after the enemy.

Yet, American Sniper is hardly the first film to cause a political firestorm. And it will likely not be the last.

In fact, watch The Interview online and there’s a film that arrived just last month whose scandal went all the way to the White House when President Obama called Sony’s pulling the movie “a mistake.”

Watch The Passion of the Christ online and that movie too was quite the stir of political discussion when it landed. Some say it went too far, and others said it couldn’t have been more accurate as to profiling the last days of Jesus.

Click through and discover our 11 most politically controversial movies of all-time and to quote Mike Meyers from that classic SNL sketch... now discuss!

Wag the Dog
Wag the Dog arrived in 1997 and its storyline remarkably reflected something that was going on at the real White House. President Clinton was in the midst of the Monica Lewinsky scandal and seemed to divert attention from it by engaging in military activities overseas. In the film, Robert De Niro's political operative solicits the help of a Hollywood executive to help do the same thing. For many, it hit too close to home.

In our Mark Hamill Star Wars: The Force Awakens interview, he revealed how things have changed in the decades since making Star Wars: A New Hope and the seventh film that just finished shooting with J.J. Abrams at the helm.

Star Wars Mark Hamill Carrie Fisher Harrison Ford Alec Guiness

Hamill is out promoting his role in Kingsman: The Secret Service and had something to add to the experience of making a Star Wars movie again.

There was something that had the veteran superstar feeling all sorts of deja vu and it was a prop, albeit a very large one. It can be seen in a triumphant moment in that Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer.

“Walking on the Millennium Falcon, again,” he told Extra.

Hamill was amazed at the meticulous nature that Abrams and his production design team took with recreating one of the most iconic spaceships ever to grace the big screen. “I'm remembering all these details that they've gotten exactly right from photographs, I guess, and old blueprints... I can't describe the feeling,” Hamill admitted.

“Even now it seems so surreal to me. It seems so hard to believe it's actually happening."

Oh, it’s happening, Mark. We just have to wait months and months for it to arrive. Look for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in theaters December 18 and we hear that the next trailer will land in front of Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1.

It is hardly a surprise given the massive success of Disney’s Frozen that the studio is planning a big-time Broadway musical version. What would be surprising is if any of the principals would take time off from their burgeoning careers to reprise their roles in anything other than Frozen 2.

The film truly launched Josh Gad as a movie star, with his stellar turn as Olaf in Frozen. It could have someone in the actor that would be perfect for the stage version.

See, he truly made a name for himself with his star-making role in the Broadway production of The Book of Mormon and one could see how he would consider a return to the Great White Way to be Olaf again. Or could he?

But, when asked about it by Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live (promoting his turn in The Wedding Ringer with Kevin Hart), he had us laughing at his response.

Would Gad return to playing Olaf on Broadway in a Frozen musical?

“Here’s the deal… no,” he said and laughed.

”I’m sure it’s going to be an amazing production. But if there comes a point in my career where I have to put on a white jump suit and start running around a stage and saying, ‘I like warm hugs,’ things have gone terribly wrong.”

Too true, Josh, too true. Well, we can enjoy his turn in the animated film and watch Frozen online. We’ll always have that.

The Interview Coming to Netflix Sooner Than You Think!

The somewhat unusual roll-out of The Interview continues with news today that the online service Netflix will be premiering the Seth Rogen and James Franco comedy this Friday, January 24.

Seth Rogen James Franco The Interview Photo Still

The Interview has become an online blockbuster, banking over $40 million with over 5.8 million views since it became available on December 24. You know, after that whole Sony hacking and theaters being threatened fracas. Those The Interview quotes are permeating our culture, particularly our favorite -- “They hate us ‘cause they ain’t us!”

Netflix made the announcement in an email to shareholders and clearly they are eager to get in on the streaming/online/download hit of the year.

“We are thrilled to offer exclusively the controversial comedy, The Interview, to our US and Canadian members beginning this Saturday, Jan. 24 – just thirty days after it debuted in theaters and pay-per-view.”

In case you didn’t know, The Interview follows a TV interviewer (Franco) who seeks some journalistic legitimacy with his producer (Rogen). It comes in the form of an exclusive interview with the dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong-Un.

As soon as that news hits, the CIA shows up on their door and asks the duo to “take him out.” And yes, laughs do ensue.

Check it out right now and watch The Interview online.

American Sniper & the Fake Baby: Do You Care?

American Sniper has a little problem on its hands and it’s not the naysayers like Seth Rogen or Michael Moore who are calling the film propaganda for war versus the conservative right. It’s about a baby. And it’s really about a fake baby.

American Sniper Fake Baby

Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller play the Kyles and while Chris is away at war in Iraq becoming the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history, his wife Taya is home taking care of the family. Well, in a scene in the Clint Eastwood movie, Chris takes a turn at holding their newborn baby and there’s just a little something off about it.

It’s. Not. Real!

We’re told that there was a real baby set to be used in the scene, but that it was sick that day so Eastwood decided to just use a rubber baby instead. He felt that no one would notice. Oh, people are noticing and as someone who saw the movie (check out our American Sniper review), we honestly thought it was quite jarring in a scene that should have been emotionally powerful.

We’ve got that clip right here:

What do you think? Is it a big deal? Should Eastwood have found another baby? And in the end, does it even affect the emotionality of the scene? Let us know in the poll below.

Should Clint Have Used a Real Baby inAmerican Sniper?

The film has banked over $108 million since opening and is a huge success – the biggest of Eastwood’s career. It has also spawned a slew of inspiring American Sniper quotes.

First Star Wars Stand Alone Starts Auditions

Remember when J.J. Abrams was holding all those auditions for Star Wars: The Force Awakens (which at the time was simply called Star Wars: Episode VII)?

Rumors flew all over the place including stories that Saoirse Ronan and Michael B. Jordan had audition. Of those, the only ones that proved to come to a casting notice was Adam Driver.

Now we have word that Gareth Edwards (watch Godzilla online to see his latest) has started looking at leading ladies for the first standalone film which we know will land in theaters almost a year to the day after Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives.

We still don’t know which character the focus of the first stand-alone Star Wars film could be, but we do know it will hit theaters December 16, 2016 and two actresses who have already auditioned are The Theory of Everything Oscar nominee for Best Actress, Felicity Jones, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara and Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany.

This, according to THR, is the beginning of the process that will conclude with the cast announcement (much like we saw with Abrams’ film) and a shooting schedule set for Pinewood Studios outside of London.

We have our theories as to who will get the spotlight in Edwards film, and you can find them in the slideshow below!

Yoda
There is probably no more compelling character in the Star Wars universe than Yoda. There is no one wiser. There is no one more fierce (that fight scene!). Can you imagine a story of how Yoda became Yoda? Yeah, us too!
