Pixar celebrated the announcement that it’s Inside Out will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival by releasing the movies’ first clip and it could not be more perfect as am embodiment of the story at the heart of the famed studio’s latest.
The scene is called First Day of School. Our protagonist, Riley, has moved to a new city and is none to happy about it. The various emotions that run through the ‘tween’s mind are voiced by a fantastic cast (including Amy Poehler’s Joy and Bill Hader as Fear), we get to see how she feels on the inside and outside as she makes her way through her new life.
Given that this is the first day of school, all those emotions surely have all sorts of thoughts on how this day is going to go. The leader, clearly, is Joy and with Poehler voicing her, as you can see in the below clip, she could not be more thrilled with this new opportunity.
Pixar’s Inside Out is the first animated film to be the Cannes Festival opening ceremony film. Director Pete Docter (who gave us Monsters Inc and Up) is beyond thrilled with the honor.
“We are overjoyed at being included in this year’s official selection at Cannes. With Inside Out, we spent years imagining -- and then building -- never-before-seen settings and characters within the mind,” Docter said. “It was an incredible, fun and exciting challenge and now we can’t wait to share it with the world.”
The cast also includes Lewis Black as Anger, Mindy Kaling as Disgust and Phylis Smith as Sadness.
Look for Inside Out in theaters June 19.
There were a lot of nerd tears in the universe yesterday as the Star Wars The Force Awakens trailer premiered. That was largely due to the appearance of Harrison Ford as Han Solo at the end of the clip where he says, “Chewie, we’re home.” But, it was much more than that -- that music had something to do with it too.
The reaction across the world was universal, everyone pretty much loved it. You know who else loved it? Matthew McConaughey!
The Oscar winning actor was the subject of a meme-like video that shows him watching the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer and reacting accordingly. There’s joy. There’s all-out balling his eyes out.
Of course, the clip is really from Interstellar, but the timing of the emotional ebb and flows could not be more spot on. We had to share!
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18 and we are prepared for more tears and smiles on that day as well.

The long awaited trailer for Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is finally here… and early! The Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice teaser was due to premiere in IMAX theaters tonight to an audience of fans who had unlocked tickets. But, Snyder’s hand was pushed when a version of the clip was leaked and now we have the real deal.
It is an interesting trailer. In some ways it doesn’t tell us anything about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but in other ways it kind of tells us everything.
Since the events of Man of Steel, it appears that Henry Cavill’s Superman has become a god of sorts to some and a devil to others. Society doesn’t know quite what to do with the guy. We love all the voice over from Holly Hunter to Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor adding their two cents.
One person who is clearly not a fan is Ben Affleck as Batman. He meets the Man of Steel in the closing moments of the trailer and asks a question that we think will become iconic in comic book movies, “Do you bleed?”
To which he answers his own question, “You will!”
Look for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in theaters this March and until then, watch Man of Steel online.
The “global” Jurassic World trailer has premiered and Universal has saved the best for last. This is why we love trailers. It teases every little facet about the movie, yet really doesn’t give a single thing away!
We adore how it starts as Chris Pratt’s raptor wrangler explains to Bryce Dallas Howard how he is successful in “speaking” with the raptors. As he says, “It’s not about control. It’s about respect.”
That is something that clearly Howard does not have for the dinosaurs of her park, or she wouldn’t have created a beast that exists solely to hunt and kill every single living thing at Jurassic Park. And when it breaks free… that is exactly what it does.
Director Colin Trevorrow also gives us our first look at Vincent D’Onofrio’s security expert, who lets us know that there are no boats (to get off the island) and there are not nearly enough guns. Basically, everyone there is looking at a death sentence.
Guess those raptors might come in handy right about now, no?
Jurassic World opens in 3D, 2D and in IMAX on June 12 and takes place 22 years after the events of what you see when you watch Jurassic Park online.
Howard, Pratt and D’Onofrio are joined in the cast by Ty Simpkins, BD Wong, Jake Johnson, Judy Greer and Omar Sy.
Furious 7 is not only the highest grossing Fast and Furious movie, but it is inching up the list of highest grossing movies of all time. With its third week in a row victory at the box office this past weekend, the James Wan film went over the $1 billion gross mark and is challenging some iconic films on the all-time list.
Furious 7 is expected to bank around $1.2 billion globally before all is said and done and that could put it on the top 10 all-time list alongside films such as Iron Man 3 and Frozen. Stay tuned to see how it all shakes out. Specifically, Furious 7 made $29.1 million in its third frame, which is absolutely stunning.
Second place belonged to Kevin James and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2. It gave Furious 7 a good run for its money, but fell short with $24 million. Just to compare, the first Paul Blart made $40 million over the MLK holiday weekend in 2009.
Third place belonged to the social media-centric horror film Unfriended. The scare-fest banked $16 million and was followed in fourth place by the animated family film Home. That DreamWorks Animation flick added another $10.3 million to bring its cume to $142.6 million.
Closing out the top five was the Nicholas Sparks romance The Longest Ride. The Scott Eastwood coming out party added another $6.9 million to a respectable total of $23.5 million.
Box Office Top 10:
1. Furious 7, $29.1 million
2. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, $24 million
3. Unfriended, $16 million
4. Home, $10.3 million
5. The Longest Ride, $6.9 million
6. Get Hard, $4.8 million
7. Monkey Kingdom, $4.7 million
8. Woman in Gold, $4.6 million
9. Insurgent, $4.2 million
10. Cinderella, $3.9 million
The first official Fantastic Four trailer has arrived and there are several things that have this doubter of whether we needed a reboot slowly turning around.
First, the trailer looks pretty darn impressive. And that is largely due to the directorial power of Josh Trank. We adore his work on Chronicle and can’t wait to see what he does with a Marvel property.
Fantastic Four is also written by Simon Kinberg, whose work can be seen when you watch X-Men: Days of Future Past online. If the behind-the-camera people don’t have you intrigued, then the stars should up the anticipation factor.
Miles Teller (Whiplash) is Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara (House of Cards) is The Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle, Fruitvale Station) is Johnny Storm and Jamie Bell (The Adventures of Tintin) is The Thing.
In the trailer below, we also get our first look at the big baddie, Dr. Doom (Toby Kebbell).
Look for Fantastic Four in theaters August 7.
Hot on the heels of the dark Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, Zack Snyder released our first two posters for his follow-up to Man of Steel.
This is truly shaping up to a monster battle between two heroes as each poster is clearly for one superhero, but is visibly “vandalized” by the other.
We all know that they’ll find some way to work it out, as this is a film that is setting up that long anticipated and gestating Justice League flick.
Which of the below posters do you like better? Ben Affleck’s first poster as Batman or does Henry Cavill do it for you?
Look for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016 and in the meantime, see where we left off and watch Man of Steel online.
Snyder’s film also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, plus Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Bruce Wayne’s longtime butler Alfred.
The latest Tomorrowland trailer is by far the most exciting, intense and mind-blowing. Walt Disney has unleashed its latest look at the George Clooney-starring effort that comes to us from the two-time Oscar-winning director, Brad Bird (The Incredibles).
Clooney is a former science prodigy, Frank, and has been living in the shadows after years of disillusionment and disappointment in the human race.
When Casey (Britt Robertson) knocks on his door, everything changes. See, Casey found a magical pin that when she touches it, takes her away to a sci-fi laden world where it seems that anything is possible. She knows that Franks knows something about this pin and this world.
The above action-packed trailer has us seriously eager to witness the latest from Disney, a studio that has been on a role of late that is of historic proportions.
Clooney and Robertson are joined in the cast by Hugh Laurie as a fellow scientist, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn and Keegan-Michael Key. Tomorrowland also arrives from a story by Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof.
Look for Tomorrowland on May 22.
The astounding Kingsman: The Secret Service has announced plans for Blu-Ray, DVD and digital download. Every film fan should take note because one of the best movies of 2015 will come home on June 9 with digital download getting an early release date of May 15.
Colin Firth stars in the Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass) directed film, based on the limited edition graphic novel series. The story follows Firth, who is a member of an ultra-secret spy organization that exists without the guise of any government organization. He sees something in young Taron Egerton and takes the kid off the streets and enters him into a training program to find the next group of Kingsmen (and women!).
Michael Caine stars as the leader of the group and Samuel L. Jackson is our villain and dives into the role with great aplomb!
As we stated in our theatrical Kingsman: The Secret Service review, the film will most certainly be on our top films of 2015 list and is one of the best spy/action movies we’ve witnessed in years. Vaughn had long said that he dreamt of being a James Bond director and we think he has achieved that with his latest, and then some! He’s allowed to do things with Kingsman: The Secret Service that he could never do with a James Bond movie. Three words: The church scene!
The bonus features sound glorious, especially the 90-minute Kingsman: The Secret Service Revealed documentary that takes viewers inside the gadgets, fight scenes, the impeccable style and so much more.
Here’s the full list of bonus features for the Kingsman: The Secret Service DVD and Blu-Ray below. And you do not want to miss the unforgettable Kingsman: The Secret Service quotes!

Galleries: Behind-The-Scenes, Sets and Props
We’ve got our first look at Johnny Depp back in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales!
Producer extraordinaire Jerry Bruckheimer took to his social media pages to post the above photo and added the following caption, “Captain Jack is back and we’re not letting him go.”
We love the photo... And is it us, or do we note a tinge of grey in the pirate’s beard?!
The franchise should get a serious shot in the arm with the hiring of directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning -- their Kon-Tiki is a modern sea-set classic. And the fact that Javier Bardem is our villain, well, that only adds to the anticipation.
Young stars Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner) and Brenton Thwaites (The Giver) have joined the cast and Geoffrey Rush returns as Barbossa. Stephen Graham’s back as Scrum and so too is Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs. We also hear that Keith Richards will reprise his role as Captain’s Jack dad!
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales lands in theaters July 7, 2017. See how it all got started and watch Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl online.
Given that Transformers: Age of Extinction banked over a billion dollars in box office, the fact that there could be more Transformers movies should hardly be a surprise. But, given that the last four Michael Bay flicks, based on the Hasbro toys, have been widely panned, maybe it is a shocker to some.
Guess what? We’re getting a fifth film and in a move that doesn’t shock us in the least, it appears that the Transformers universe will be greatly expanded with spin-off movies and the like.
Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro, was talking to shareholders about their first quarter earnings and let it be known that that Transformers movie money will keep on flowing.
“Our plan right now with the studio and filmmakers, you may have read something about some writers being hired. We have in fact brought in [Akiva Goldsman] to lead a group of writers to really create a strategic plan around Transformers -- we think there’s any number of stories to be told,” Goldner said.
“It’s a brand that’s been around for 30 years with amazing canon and mythology. We would expect the sequel to the Transformers movie to happen in 2017.”
Film fans should know Goldsman’s name, he’s the guy who penned Will Smith’s I Am Legend. And with him heading up the new direction of Transformers movies with director-producer Bay and producers Steven Spielberg, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura, look for something interesting to come out of these brainstorming sessions.
As for the star of the last film, Mark Wahlberg, he is under contract for a “few more” Transformers movies. We would not be surprised to see him back for more.
While we wait for news… watch Transformers: Age of Extinction online.
That The Peanuts Movie trailer has us utterly intrigued with the new Blue Sky and 20th Century Fox production of the Charles Schulz-created cartoon.
It looks utterly gorgeous and it is terrific to see some of our favorite characters getting ready for their big screen debut.
We’ve seen The Peanuts Movie character posters for many of our faves, including Charlie Brown and Snoopy, and now we have got our hands on a few more… including one of the most beloved characters, Woodstock!
The Peanuts gang has been the subject of dozens of TV specials and the comic strip was read at one point by 355 million people every day.
To say that there’s an audience for this film is a gross understatement! Look for it to hit theaters on November 6.
Check out our new The Peanuts Movie character posters, and all of our stills from the flick, in the slideshow below.
It is quite the first look at one of our favorite actor’s latest films this week. Yesterday we caught our first picture of Johnny Depp back as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Today we have our first gander at Depp in his highly anticipated role as gangster Whitey Bulger in Black Mass. The photo arrives thanks to Entertainment Weekly and the scene from the Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) movie appears to show Bulger right after taking someone out in broad daylight.
See, that was the kind of brutal gangster that the Boston crime boss was.
“He could be charming. He could be ruthless. He was like a cobra—you never knew where he could strike. A lot of people on set knew Whitey intimately,” Cooper told EW.
“They got chills at [Depp’s] resemblance. Some of them couldn’t even look at him. It’s easy to be the mustache twirling villain but this performance couldn’t be further from that. He is truly gifted.”
The Bulger story Cooper tells in Black Mass follows how the gangster went from brother of a state senator to one of the most notorious criminals in all of Boston history (eventually he went on to become an FBI informant -- all in an effort to protect his turf from Mafia infiltrators).
Black Mass also stars Joel Edgerton, Juno Temple, Kevin Bacon, Adam Scott, Peter Sarsgaard, Corey Stoll and Benedict Cumberbatch. Look for it on September 18.
Even though the last act of Man of Steel was on the darker side, it was not a “dark” superhero movie, like say Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy. One thing that immediately struck us from the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer is that its tone is drastically different from Zack Snyder’s first Superman flick, Man of Steel.
So, it’s hardly a surprise that in an interview with MTV News, star Henry Cavill stated that he does not think that the upcoming flick that co-stars Ben Affleck as Batman is in any way a direct follow-up to Cavill’s first go around as Superman.
“I wouldn’t call this a Superman sequel. This is Batman versus Superman,” Cavill said.
“It’s a separate entity altogether. It’s introducing the Batman character and expanding upon the universe, which was kicked off by Man of Steel.”
So, we’re inclined to call Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice a Justice League prequel and not a Man of Steel sequel. “Everything could change in the editing room, but as it stands, it’s an introduction of the character, and ultimately, the introduction of Justice League,” Cavill added.
Although we’re excited to see Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa as Aquaman, amongst other superheroes in the Justice League, we were kind of looking forward to seeing Cavill grow further into the Superman role. Perhaps he will still get the chance in a Superman solo movie that IS a direct sequel to Man of Steel.
We’ll see how it all plays out when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice lands in theaters in March of 2016. Until then, watch Man of Steel online.
Since it was announced that Paul Bettany was the Vision, we were quite excited for his addition to The Avengers team. The only question was, how would the hero be introduced?
Thanks to Marvel, we’ve got an idea now as a new clip from Avengers: Age of Ultron has arrived online that shows us exactly that. Bettany arrives as the Vision and he is just that, a vision of heroism!
The countdown to the arrival of the sequel to The Avengers is getting ever so short. The release date is only a week away, people!
Who else is beyond excited to see our favorite heroes take on one of their most notorious foes in James Spader's Ultron?
Who else is eager to see how Joss Whedon introduces Aaron Taylor Johnson’s Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch?
And that humor that was so ripe in the first film… well, let’s just hope there’s room for it in Whedon’s second turn as the Avengers helmer.
Watch The Avengers online and see how it all got started. Let the countdown begin to Avengers: Age of Ultron’s arrival on May 1.
The news that Spider-Man was joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and possibly The Avengers) was merely the beginning, it seems.
Sony has announced that it has green lit an all animated Spider-Man film that will hit screens on July 20, 2018.
Why this announcement is interesting is two-fold.
It’s interesting because with a new Spider-Man coming at audiences with Marvel and as part of that deal a new live action Spider-Man movie coming in 2017, it seems rather superfluous that Spider-Man would arrive in animated form as well merely a year later.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller are the guys tapped to write and direct the new animated Spider-Man movie. And given their history with not only The LEGO Movie, but also Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street and its blockbuster sequel, we would not bet against these brilliant guys coming up with something truly special.
It certainly is an announcement that has come out of left field, but sometimes those kinds of surprises are the best kind. I mean, who ever thought that The LEGO Movie would be as bloody fantastic as it was?! Just watch The LEGO Movie online and try to not be excited about what these guys could do with an animated Spidey?!
There had to be thoughts that the The Equalizer 2 would happen as soon as Denzel Washington was cast as the dark hero who makes wrongs right in Boston for those who need his help.
The Sony film had franchise for the two-time Oscar winner written all over it. Plus, the film would reunite him with the director of Training Day who brought him one of those Oscars -- Antoine Fuqua.
Then, the film debuted and banked a global gross of $200 million off of a $55 million budget.
During Sony’s CinemaCon presentation they made the announcement that The Equalizer 2 is happening. Not much else was added in terms of the plot, but after seeing Washington take on the Russian mob in the first film, we cannot wait to see who gets his brand of justice in the follow-up.
First up for Fuqua and Washington? The remake of The Magnificent Seven!
Watch The Equalizer online and see what all the fuss is about.
As we saw in that stellar Ant-Man trailer, Paul Rudd is given a second chance at life by Michael Douglas. Rudd’s thief can finally be the hero his daughter thinks he is! But of course, as we know, he still has to steal some “stuff” for Douglas, but what it is appears to be a mystery.
The first clip from Ant-Man shows off what it is that Douglas has Rudd stealing and it appeared on Late Night with David Letterman when Rudd appeared on the legendary late night host’s show.
So, what’s he got to steal? Jewels? Cash? Nope!
“Some old motorcycle suit?!”
We have news for you, that is no motorcycle suit. As we all know, it is the Ant-Man suit and it has fallen into the wrong hands. Now that Douglas and Rudd have it, our heroic journey can truly start.
Ant-Man also stars Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale and John Slattery. Look for it July 17.
We got our first look at Johnny Depp in Black Mass earlier this week and now we get the full trailer! Depp stars as notorious Boston gangster Whitey Bulger in Scott Cooper’s biopic of the vicious Beantown crime lord and it looks insanely awesome.
The trailer starts as a clip, essentially.
Bulger and some associates are having some steak. After he presses his host for the “family secret” recipe and the man delivers, Depp turns on him in an instant and we get a lesson in why Depp is one of our most favorite actors working today.
This is a role that should remind the populous that Depp is an acting treasure and although he has strayed into blockbuster fun fare (like the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), he is still the guy who wowed us in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Ed Wood and so many other memorable roles.
Cooper (Crazy Heart, Out of the Furnace) also has a stellar cast beyond Depp in this highly anticipated gangster flick that lands September 18 which we think has Oscar buzz written all over it.
Depp is joined by Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Jesse Plemons, Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson and Juno Temple.
