The Woman in Black is getting a sequel entitled Angels of Death. Daniel Radcliffe will not be in the sequel, so all you fans of the former Harry Potter star have to refrain your excitement. The first film arrived in late fall 2011 and scared up a pretty decent domestic box office of $53 million and $58 million internationally. The film was the highest grossing British horror film in the last two decades and anticipation is high across the pond for the sequel.

Author Susan Hill’s The Woman in Black: Angels of Death continues the series of hauntings that began with her first book, reflected in the Radcliffe-starring flick about a small UK village with more than a few scary secrets.

Four Brave Character Posters: Merida and her Clan

Pixar has debuted four new character posters over at Entertainment Weekly in anticipation of the June 22 arrival of the animated studio’s latest, Brave. The film is their first featuring a female lead in Merida (Kelly Macdonald). Don’t tell the film’s director, Mark Andrews, that she’s a Disney princess. “Merida just happens to be, by default, in the society of a princess. We don’t really call her princess often in the movie,” Andrews told EW. “She’s trying to reconcile this difference between how the world wants her to be, and how she sees herself. Ultimately, she’s going to have to look inside herself, and what she finds in the mirror is not exactly what she expected. That’s kind of our definition of ‘brave’ in the movie -- looking inside yourself and coming to grips with who exactly you are.”

Movie Fanatic is heading up to Pixar today to talk to the creative team behind Brave. Stay tuned!

Chris Klein and Mena Suvari Talk American Reunion

Chris Klein and Mena Suvari are back together in American Reunion. But… are their characters together? “When I read the first draft, I was honestly really impressed. I thought it was absolutely hilarious, and it’s turned out to be my favorite of the whole series. I liked how it didn’t just go into the reunion with the obvious, that Heather and Oz would be together,” Suvari said to Movie Fanatic. “I liked that twist. I also really enjoyed how they gave Heather this moment of really breaking out of her shell and sticking up for herself and showing this different side to her. That was really refreshing. Of course, I think it’s only natural for Oz and Heather to come back together again.”

Mena Suvari and Chris Klein in American Reunion
“It’s a beautiful thing,” Klein added and smiled. “I think that it’s beautiful that they do, indeed, rekindle this flame that was their first love, and the innocence of that. They’ve gone through some life and come back in a reunion -- that innocence and first love still exists and is being rekindled. If we’re going to explore those themes in American Pie, Oz and Heather are the character to do it. I was excited to play that.”

“How could I let him go, with those dance moves?” asked Suvari. The actress is referring to how Klein’s character goes on a Dancing with the Stars-type show as he has become quite the celebrity as a national sports news anchor. The bit with him on the dance competition is among the film’s funniest, and that is saying something.

“I worked hard on that,” Klein admitted of his dance training.

Suvari said that when the cast got back together for the first time in almost a decade, they just clicked… again. “Everybody is right back on the same page and it’s like no time has passed, but then it has and it’s been so many years. At the end of American Reunion, there are a lot of photos from the first and second American Pie films in there. When you do look at those, it becomes a reality that it has been that long, but there’s so much of this essence that it hasn’t been that long. It feels like no time has passed at all. We have so much chemistry with one another that it’s so natural. It’s the same vibe.”

The studio even had the cast shoot the poster for American Reunion in exactly the same format as the original American Pie -- something that didn’t occur to Klein until he took his position at the shoot. "At first, I didn’t get it! I was like, ‘Wait a minute! What’s going on? This feels strangely familiar.’ I think I missed the note that we were creating the very first poster again,” Klein said and laughed.

“It really was surreal,” Suvari added.

The gang is getting back together for, you guessed it, their high school reunion. Stifler is still living in the same town, but everyone else has to return home for the get together of a lifetime. Jim and Michelle (Jason Biggs and Alyson Hannigan) are married with a baby. Finch has been “traveling the world.” Regardless of what everyone’s character has been up to, Klein believes there’s an affinity for them all with the movie-going public. “The universe has been incredibly kind to this franchise, in that, organically, the premise of the very first movie lends itself to all of us moving forward and growing up,” he said. “The universal themes that the first American Pie deals with -- sex and relationships, and all of those things -- are wonderful. What American Pie also does, in such a unique way with our brand, is that we laugh at that. Man, we get ourselves into some hectic situations, but it’s okay, it happens. Ten years ago, we saw Jim Levenstein turn around, and he had a pie in his crotch. Ten years later, we see him turn around, and we see his penis. Things are only getting worse, or better, depending on your perspective.”

DVD Previews: We Bought a Zoo & War Horse

The non-humans have our attention this week with the new releases on DVD, Blu-Ray and On Demand. Steven Spielberg’s latest war epic War Horse premieres after its Best Picture Oscar-nominated run, Matt Damon and Cameron Crowe combine on We Bought a Zoo and a stellar documentary goes behind the scenes with the man behind Elmo.

War Horse: Jeremy Irvine stars as a young man who bonds with a wild horse he tames to farm his rock-laden landscape in pre-World War I Britain. When war breaks out, his horse is pulled into service and the boy must watch his beloved companion and co-worker head off to war. The film follows his story, as well as the animals as it deals with the first few years of the First World War. Eventually Irvine is old enough to enlist and his war story parallels his horse until a fateful ending. The Blu-Ray extras are highlighted by a documentary called A Filmmaking Journey where the award-winning helmer takes viewers inside the making of War Horse. Also of note is the rare look at an acting extra who provides a unique take on the making of a movie from the standpoint of someone normally placed in the background.

We Bought a Zoo: Cameron Crowe triumphed with his return to directing in We Bought a Zoo. He got a pretty stellar cast for his true story of a widower who buys a Southern California zoo to try to save his family after his wife’s tragic death. Matt Damon leads, while Scarlett Johansson and Thomas Haden Church turn in great supporting roles. Extras abound, but the best has to be the commentary provided by Crowe. There are three behind-the-scenes featurettes that are sure to dazzle -- and an astonishing list of deleted or extended scenes are also included. Seriously, there are twenty!

Being Elmo: The man behind Elmo, Kevin Clash, gets a close-up in this amazing documentary. Everyone knows Elmo, but few know the man behind the magic. The film follows a man and his dream to work for Jim Henson. Not only did he get that chance, but he created the character that could arguably be Henson Studios’ most popular.

It has been confirmed in a bold stroke of casting: Russell Crowe is set to play that biblical hero, Noah. That’s right -- the Australian actor has taken on the role of the man who, according to the beloved Bible story, gathered the world’s creatures two-by-two when told by God that he was set to flood the world.

Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky has signed on to direct and we believe the combination of those two talents will make for one truly special film.

Not that Movie Fanatic ever had an image in mind of what the Ark-master would look like, but given Crowe’s rugged good looks, we think we have a match made in… well, heaven!

Captain America 2 Gets a Release Date

Marvel Studios and Disney have released a new picture of Chris Evans as Captain America from their wildly anticipated film The Avengers. They also have given fans of Captain Rogers and his alter-ego an early treat: We have a release date for Captain America 2.

Chris Evans in The Avengers
Look for the continuing adventures of Captain America when the film’s sequel lands in theaters April 4, 2014.

Rumors had abounded that filmmakers felt there were many adventures Cap had during the first Captain America that were not shown on film that involved him fighting for freedom in a World War II-set world. Now, the studio has stated that, “The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.”

We find that last part very interesting… “in the modern world.” It was wondered how Captain America’s film future would be handled as a franchise as the first film completed with Evans in a very modern Times Square looking utterly confused. Much of the lore of the hero involved him fighting for justice in the mid-twentieth century. Guess it’s true… you can’t go back in time.

American Reunion: Eugene Levy & Jennifer Coolidge Chat Pie

American Reunion allowed two characters who do not have names beyond their parental monikers to truly work together for the first time in the American Pie series: Eugene Levy and Jennifer Coolidge. The pair are not strangers, they are both veterans of Christopher Guest’s acting troupe and have appeared together in such films as Best in Show and For Your Consideration.

Eugene Levy and Jennifer Coolidge in American Reunion
Levy originated the role of Jim’s Dad in the 1999 original film, as did Coolidge with her iconic Stifler’s Mom character. When both heard about the possibility that their characters would not only be finally sharing scenes, but possibly be engaged in a little hanky panky… one was intrigued and the other was not so sure.

“Well, I first heard it in a story pitch, when I had lunch with (writer-directors) Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. They were laying out what their idea for the story was. They were talking me through the entire thing, and I was just loving everything that I was hearing. The fact that Jim’s dad is now a widower, I thought, ‘Wow, that’s really interesting. Shocking, but interesting.’ Now, the tables are turning and Jim is giving a pep talk to his dad about the idea that it’s okay to start going out and start dating. And then, he gets to go to this party that they talk him into going to, and he wanders around and opens a door and Stifler’s mom turns around,” Levy said.

“I just said, 'Wow, that is brilliant! That’s so great!' It seemed like a no-brainer, in a way, to get Jim’s dad and Stifler’s mom together, but he’s always been married. That was a great thing that these two characters are now going to get together. It was so exciting, that prospect.”

Coolidge was down with the idea of her character having a romantic rendezvous with Levy’s, but she had one request. “I thought I should sleep with Finch one last time before I do some other stuff. I did want that to happen, and I was very firm about it,” Coolidge said with the straightest of faces. Hurwitz and Schlossberg eventually sold her on the idea as a form of her character growing well beyond what she did in the first movie. “They said, ‘Jennifer, Stifler’s mom needs to evolve and grow, and she can’t just be sleeping with this young boy occasionally.’ I don’t know how they convinced me because I’m really stubborn, not that I wasn’t thrilled to sleep with Eugene!”

We wondered where Coolidge thought her Stifler’s Mom character would be thirteen years after the original film debuted. “I always pictured myself having sex with Oz (Chris Klein). I thought that Stifler’s mom would move on to some other kids. The only one I wouldn’t sleep with was Stifler because they wouldn’t go that far, but I have to say that I wouldn’t mind that, at all,” she said and laughed. “But it never, in a million years, occurred to me that they would hook me up with an adult. I’m glad it all worked out, but it had never occurred to me that I could end up with Jim’s dad. Seducing Finch was great because he didn’t know what he was doing, but it’s even better to seduce an older man that doesn’t know what he’s doing.”

It’s hard to believe, given the fact that Levy is the only performer in the franchise who has been in every single Pie movie -- even the direct-to-DVD ones -- that the actor had to be convinced to even consider appearing in that initial instant classic. “When I first read the script, it scared me. I said, 'No, I can’t do this movie.' My manager, at the time, said, 'Well, you should go and take a meeting.' I said, 'Why? It’s just too out there for me. This is a kids’ movie. Why would I want to be in a movie I wouldn’t go see?' He said, 'Just go talk to the directors.' So, I finally went in and met the Weitz brothers, and that was the turning point for me,” Levy said.

“They were really smart and really had a great sense of comedy, and they were really two young, brilliant guys. American Pie could have gone either way. It was so raw, sexually speaking, that under the wrong type of supervision, it could have crossed the line into territory that turned off audiences. Paul and Chris Weitz kept everything exactly where it should be. They were doing a movie that could have been bad taste, but it wasn’t bad taste. They kept it on the right side of bad taste. They were also character-oriented. The script was really an amazing script, and it was a smart movie. It wasn’t just a series of sex jokes. It was a movie where indelible characters were created and the movie-going public fell in love with these characters.”

Now that this reunion is over, will there be any reunion anytime soon of the Christopher Guest troupe in a new full-length film comedy?

“Well, we had a little reunion at the Oscars,” Levy proudly states.

“But, to answer that question, there’s nothing on the horizon. We really didn’t want to do another movie that’s a cookie-cutter movie, where you’ve got the same kind of style, but you just change the subject. Everybody is doing that fake documentary style now. Even TV shows are using that fake documentary style. So, there’s nothing novel about that, anymore. And we haven’t really hit on an idea that moves us and that we both agree on, but we’re always talking.”

For fans waiting for the next chapter in the saga of the character of Riddick, as played by Vin Diesel, the waiting just got a little shorter. Writer-director David Twohy has announced that principal photography is complete on the third film in the series -- simply called Riddick -- and tweeted a photo of himself with members of the crew of Santana (Jordi Molla) on the set.

David Twohy on the Set of Riddick
“It was a challenging schedule we had for this latest installment of Riddick,” he said in his tweet. “A scant 47 days, but we managed to get what we needed (and more), thanks to a skilled crew and a gifted and willing cast. I’m packing up now to return to L.A. after five months here, but the memories of Montreal are already piling up in my head in a way that I know will haunt me, happily, for years to come.”

We don’t have a release date yet for the film, so stay tuned. The flick also stars Karl Urban, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff and Keri Hilson.

Wrath of the Titans Quotes: Stronger Than a God

Wrath of the Titans scored in that it was leagues better than the 2010 reboot of the series, but also managed to make the 3D genre good to watch with stellar work on that front. The story of gods, titans and the humans who toil on Earth was rich with Greek myths, and as such, some memorable lines.

Wrath of the Titans: Sam Worthington
Sam Worthington is back as Perseus, the half-human, half-god son of Zeus (Liam Neeson). Ralph Fiennes is also back as Hades, who more than has a grudge towards his brother Zeus. Joining the franchise is Andromeda (Rosamund Pike) who gets in her own Wrath of the Titans quotes.
