DVD Previews: Mark Wahlberg Moves Contraband

The week in home video is highlighted by finding Mark Wahlberg back in action in Contraband, while The Innkeepers battle back ghosts, Camelot gets a birthday Blu-Ray release, Halle Berry hits the water and an urban drama astounds.

Contraband: In Contraband, Wahlberg plays one of the best smugglers that has ever worked. He is living the retired crook life now, with his wife (Kate Beckinsale) and kids in the suburbs. When his brother-in-law loses money for a whacked-out drug dealer (Giovanni Ribisi), Wahlberg must swing back into action to save his family.

The Innkeepers: A little seen, but well reviewed horror film that takes the haunted house premise and turns it on its head. Cleverly crafted, the movie rivets with subtle surprises. This is the type of film that can be celebrated on home video. Put it on your “don’t-miss” list.

Camelot: In honor of the forty-fifth anniversary of the big screen debut of the classic musical Camelot, Warner Bros. has released the film for the first time on Blu-Ray. You think you know the Arthurian legend… think again.

Enjoy a clip from the film entitled: The Lusty Month of May.

Dark Tide: Halle Berry had one thing going for her with Dark Tide, she met her fiance Olivier Martinez during the shoot. That is about the only other reason to witness this film that tries what Contraband achieves.

Pariah: A star is born with the performance of Adepero Oduye as a sexually confused girl growing up in a community that doesn’t necessarily embrace homosexuality. It is a stirring portrait of one family and the ebbs and flows of life.

11:11:11: The horror film from the director of Saw II, III and IV had a timely debut in cinemas on the titular date and rightfully so as the thrills from the flick arise from the mysterious number. After the death of his wife and child, famed American author Joseph Crone travels to Barcelona to meet his estranged brother and his dying father. Things start getting a little weird and every time Joseph has one of these experiences, the number 11 is nearby.
