Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises) shines in this first trailer from the upcoming film Les Miserables. Watch her sing "I Dreamed A Dream" below:
The film, based on the popular musical which is in turn based on the 19th-century novel by French author Victor Hugo, stars Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Amanda Seyfried. Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen also make appearances. Cohen, most well known for his outrageous comedic characters, stars in The Dictator, in theaters now (check out some The Dictator quotes).
Les Miserables tells the story of Jean Valjean (Jackman), an ex-prisoner in 19th-century France who has agreed to take care of Cosette (Seyfried), the daughter of Fantine (Hathaway), while avoiding capture by the police inspector Javert (Crowe). It seems that director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) has adapted the musical excellently to film, with the trailer looking epically dark and dramatic.
