Director Adam Shankman discusses what it was like to direct Rock of Ages in this new featurette.
Rock of Ages, a jukebox musical based on the Broadway play of the same name, stars Julianne Hough (Footloose), along with Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Tom Cruise, and many others.
Shankman has directed, produced, or choreographed numerous musical films, including Step Up 3D and Hairspray, and the team he assembled for Rock of Ages seems to have surpassed expectations. The film uses popular rock hits from the 1980's as a thread through the story of a waitress and a bussboy who fall in love.
Brand, who hosted this year's MTV Movie Awards (have you seen the Dark Knight Rises footage that aired during the awards?), is not new to playing a character living the glamorous rock and roll lifestyle, as he portrayed Aldous Snow in the 2008 comedy, Forgetting Sarah Marshall (take a look at some of his hilarious Forgetting Sarah Marshall quotes).
Rock of Ages hits theaters and IMAX June 15.
