Sissy Spacek was 27 when she filmed the original Carrie. Chloe Moretz is 15--an actual high schooler. Moretz will star in a remake/reboot/reimagining/re-adaptation of Stephen King's 1974 horror novel Carrie.
Carrie began filming today, and it is being called a new adaptation of the novel--one that does not take into account the first film. Moretz plays the title teenager, who discovers she has telekinetic powers and uses them to exact revenge on the classmates who make fun of her.
Moretz has shot to stardom in the last few years, appearing in films such as Kick-Ass, Hugo, and Dark Shadows, where she played the sullen, solitary teen Carolyn Stoddard. Check out some Dark Shadows quotes here.
Kimberly Peirce, writer/director of Boys Don't Cry and Stop Loss, is directing the film, with a cast that also includes Julianne Moore, Portia Doubleday, and Judy Greer (Jeff Who Lives at Home). The film is set for a March 15, 2013 release.
