Cosmopolis Trailer Drops: Something Stupendous and Awful

David Cronenberg has adapted "unfilmable" books in the past. In 1991 he adapted the rambling drug-induced-dream-like novel Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs for the big screen. Now, he's tackling a Don DeLillo book about a wealthy man in Manhattan traffic seeking a haircut.

Cosmpolis stars Robert Pattinson as that wealthy man, named Eric Packer. It premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival to mixed reactions. Check out the trailer below:

While the film is technically about a man seeking a haircut, the eccentric thriller focuses on the immense monetary losses Packer faces throughout the day due to his bets against the strength of the Yen, with the rest of his life falling apart as well.

Jay Baruschel, Paul Giamatti, Kevin Durand, and Juliette Binoche also star. Giamatti recently appeared in the jukebox musical Rock of Ages, while Durand is set to star in the upcoming film Resident Evil: Retribution.

Cosmopolis is set for limited release in the United States beginning August 17.
