Ghostbusters 3 is happening. But it will be happening sans Bill Murray.
In an interview with Metro, Dan Aykroyd confirmed that Murray will not be returning for the long-awaited Ghostbusters threequel. He did say, however, that he is very excited about the direction of the new script, and that the movie will see them "passing the torch to the next generation."
You know what that means: Wild speculation about who could be the new Ghostbusters! Maybe Jonah Hill? Jason Schwartzman? Aziz Ansari? Seth Rogen? I'm just tossing some names out there. Let us know who you'd like to see the ghost-fighting torch passed to in the comments section below!
While the news about Murray, who recently appeared in Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom, is disappointing, it sounds like Ghostbusters 3 does have potential. Aykroyd, meanwhile, will appear in the upcoming comedy The Campaign.
