For a film set in 1979, Argo may be more timely than you'd think. With recent tragic attacks on the U.S. embassy in Libya, as well as protests at the embassy in Egypt, and continued discussion about Iran, Argo recalls the 1979 Iran hostage crisis that began at the U.S. embassy there.

Ben Affleck directed and stars as Tony Mendez, a CIA officer who helps six U.S. hostages escape Iran by staging a fake movie production and pretending they're the crew. John Goodman (ParaNorman), Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, Chris Messina (Celeste and Jesse Forever), and Kyle Chandler also star.
