The thought of Meryl Streep playing Margaret Thatcher is about as exciting as film news gets. Now the Weinstein Company has released the poster for Iron Lady, the film based on the life of Thatcher and it features Streep front and center.
Thatcher was the first, and thus far only, female Prime Minister of the U.K. She was a woman who went toe-to-toe with the most powerful leaders in the world and was considered a confidant of Ronald Reagan’s. To say she broke barriers is one of the biggest understatements ever! That is why the casting of Streep as Thatcher is a stroke of genius.
The Iron Lady features a stellar cast including Jim Broadbent, Olivia Colman, Alexandra Roach, Richard E. Grant and Nick Dunning and arrives on screens in the U.S. December 16.
