Shawn Levy will return to direct the third film in the Night at the Museum franchise. Levy, who directed the first two films, last directed Real Steel, and is directing the upcoming Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson film The Internship.
Ben Stiller will reprise his role as Larry Daley, the museum security guard. No details on the plot of the third film have been released, with Night at the Museum taking place at New York's Museum of Natural History, and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian taking place at the DC museum (check out some Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian quotes).
Night at the Museum 3 is currently slated for a Christmas Day 2014 release.
