There's something too ironic to even deal with about the idea of a bunch of actresses screen testing to play the role of Cinderella. I mean, do they just have them try on a slipper?
Regardless of how Disney picks its Cinderella, three actresses will be testing for the role this week: Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows), Margot Robbie, and Lily James.
The project changed directorial hands at the beginning of the year, from Mark Romanek to Kenneth Branagh. Emma Watson (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) was originally set to star in the film, but dropped out only a week after her name was mentioned.
Cate Blanchett is set to star as the Evil Godmother, with Richard Madden being talked about to play Prince Charming. Disney hopes to get Cinderella set for a Fall 2014 release.
