Europa Report is an upcoming sci-fi film that seems like a cross between Primer and Alien. It's got the gritty realism aspect, as well as the alien-seeking horror aspect.

After a hidden ocean is discovered on Jupiter's moon Europa, a team of six astronauts is assembled to go on a mission and investigate the possibility of single-celled life there. After a technical failure and the loss of a crew member, the team must fight for survival as they make an incredible discovery.
Sharlto Copley (Elysium), Michael Nyqvist, Christian Camargo (Breaking Dawn Part 2), Embeth Davidtz, Dan Fogler, Anamaria Marinca, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Karolina Wydra, and Daniel Wu star. Sebastian Cordero directs, with a script by Philip Gelatt.
