Rio 2 amps it up in the first true trailer for the sequel to the animated smash from Blue Sky Studios. The entire tropical avian gang is back, including Jesse Eisenberg as Blu, Anne Hathaway as Jewel and who could forget Will.I.Am and the rough and tumble Rio songbird.
Rio 2 is the Carlos Saldaanha-directed follow-up to 2011’s Rio, and beyond what was shown in the Rio 2 teaser trailer… we don’t get much. But, the little guy who speaks during the first part of the clip is frankly priceless.
Here’s what we do know about Rio 2. Our favorite rare tropical bird Blu and the love of his life Jewel have started a family. Wanting their offspring to live like natural (read: wild) birds, she insists on the family taking a trip into the Amazon. Knowing this is in the vein of the original Rio, we’re thinking it doesn’t go so smoothly.
