The weekend movie preview has a little something for everyone in the middle of the summer heat. The gang from Red is back in Red 2, horror fans will be thrilled with The Conjuring, the kids will adore Turbo and Ryan Gosling fanatics have something serious to chew on with his latest, Only God Forgives. And then there's Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges ruling the dead in R.I.P.D.
Red 2: Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Mary Louise Parker are back in the sequel to Red. This time out, the gang is under fire for being a part of a super secret nuclear program during the Cold War. As we stated in our Red 2 review, it is bloody fun watching everyone working together again, especially the addition of Anthony Hopkins in a "is he bad or isn't he" role.
Turbo: Reynolds has a two-movie weekend, the first to arrive (on Wednesday) was the animated Turbo. Reynolds voices the title character, a garden snail with dreams of racing in the Indy 500. It's a superstar cast including Paul Giamatti, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson. Our Turbo review found it perfect for kids, and even parents as its themes are universal.
The Conjuring: Director James Wan (Insidious) has done it again, as we reported in our The Conjuring review. The story is just one from the Warren files, the couple who made a name for themselves ridding supernatural nasties from the lives of average citizens. The Conjuring review found the film powerful, horrifying and incredibly original.
R.I.P.D.: The Reynolds-Bridges tandem as dead police officers charged with policing the dead has the most original of ideas, even if it looks a bit like Men in Black. The film did not screen for critics, so enjoy the trailer below and we'll bring you our review later this weekend.
