The very first clip from Elysium has arrived online and judging by its title, Matt Damon could be a little frustrated. As he tries to deal with a robot in this futuristic thriller, he gets nowhere and is asked, “Would you like to talk to a human?” Well, we can figure that that goes nowhere as seen in the Elysium trailer -- he must get to the titular facility to have his problem solved.
Damon stars as a man living in the future where the world is even more divided than ever, literally. The wealthy live above Earth on an orbiting ship where all disease and illness have been eradicated. As Damon’s character only has a few days to live, his urgency is understood. He must find a way to Elysium… at all cost.
Directed by District 9 helmer Neill Blomkamp, Elysium hits theaters August 8, and also stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley and William Fichtner.
