Entourage Movie May Come Sooner Than 2015: Sequel Already Being Pushed

When Movie Fanatic visited the set of the Entourage movie earlier this year, it was impressive.

We’ve been on many movie sets, but there was something about this one that was truly like a well oiled machine. It occurred to us while watching the guys get filmed by writer-director Doug Ellin that there was no way this movie needed to wait until June of 2015 to come out. We’re not alone.

Mark Wahlberg (who co-created the show and acts as executive producer) was talking to Access Hollywood at the Hong Kong premiere of his latest film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and he reflected the urge to get this Entourage movie out earlier.

“I don’t think we’re going to be able to wait a year to release the movie. We’re going to show the studio sooner, rather than later,” Wahlberg told Access Hollywood. “If it makes the most sense to wait until June, we’ll wait until June.”

And given Wahlberg’s excitement for the project, it’s also hardly a surprise that he is getting Ellin busy on thinking of a follow-up film for the four boys of Entourage.

“I told [writer-director Doug Ellin], ‘Let’s not wait for the movie to come out to start planning the next one because this is definitely going to be a big success.’ If I have anything to do with it there will be,” Wahlberg said.

Think Like a Man was the number one movie when it arrived in 2012, and Think Like a Man Too has done the same with its premiere this past weekend. The Kevin Hart-starring sequel banked $30 million, besting last weekend’s top movie -- 22 Jump Street -- by a mere $1 million.

The Men of Think Like a Man Too

This time out, the cast heads to Vegas in the sequel to Think Like a Man, and it appears they scored big time. Those fantastic 22 Jump Street quotes are still packing in the audience as the Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill-starring cop comedy added another $29 million to bring its total cume to $111.5 million.

Third place belonged to How to Train Your Dragon 2. The animated sequel earned $25.3 million in its second week of release. The DreamWorks Animation pic has now grossed a total of $95.2 million.

Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent continued to roll in its fourth week of release, staying in the top five in the fourth spot with $13.5 million. The only other huge wide release to open last weekend, Jersey Boys, had to be satisfied with a fifth place finish. The Clint Eastwood-directed musical closed out the top five with a debut haul of $13 million.

Box office top 10:

1. Think Like a Man Too, $30 million
2. 22 Jump Street, $29 million
3. How to Train Your Dragon 2, $25.3 million
4. Maleficent, $13.5 million
5. Jersey Boys, $13 million
6. Edge of Tomorrow, $10.3 million
7. The Fault in Our Stars, $8.6 million
8. X-Men: Days of Future Past, $6.2 million
9. Chef, $1.84 million
10. Godzilla, $1.82

Kevin Hart Has Worked Out!
"I'll be the first to say, I got a good look at my body in Think Like a Man and I said, 'Eww.' So coming into part two, we all wanted to come in looking different, looking better," Hart said. "You always want to up the ante."

Star Wars Trailer Done as Guardians of the Galaxy!

Guardians of the Galaxy is coming August 1 and it has some in the industry comparing it to a titan of Sci-Fi, Star Wars. So, why not take it a step further?

Someone has given Star Wars the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer treatment and it is brilliant!

It combines all three initial trilogy Star Wars movies -- A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. And it gives those three films the two songs that rivet in the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer and the second, longer, Guardians of the Galaxy movie trailer -- Hooked on a Feeling and Spirit in the Sky

While Harrison Ford nurses that broken leg and J.J. Abrams keeps making his Star Wars: Episode VII, we are reminded why we love those big three characters -- Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia -- so much in the above "fake" trailer!

Star Wars: Episode VII lands December 18, 2015 and until we get our first trailer for that flick, the above will have to do!

And notice that none of the characters we just do not like in the slideshow below are featured in the above "trailer." Someone, somewhere, is listening to Movie Fanatic!

Ani Skywalker
Maybe it was how it was written. Perhaps, it was how it was played by Jake Lloyd... and maybe it was both. But young Anakin Skywalker, known as Ani, was just plain awful. .. and annoying!

The latest poster for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has arrived and it sure should be a whole lot less controversial than that Eva Green character poster

As you recall, the Green poster was banned by the MPAA for "nudity," and as you can see in the below "Quad" poster, every character is pretty much clothed. Of course, Jessica Alba's character is still doing that dancing thing.

As teased in that Sin City: A Dame to Kill For trailer, Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez have teamed up yet again and kept that visual style that can be seen when you watch Sin CIty online.

New to the cast is Joseph Gordon Levitt and Josh Brolin, and returning cast members include Rosario Dawson and Mickey Rourke.

Look for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For on August 25.

Batman Celebrates 25 Years: Tim Burton Movie No Joke

It was 25 years ago today that Tim Burton and DC Comics joined forces and the most unlikely of alliances gave us Batman.

Batman Movie Poster

Michael Keaton was the Dark Knight and although many questioned his casting as the superhero, none did after the movie debuted in theaters today a quarter of a century ago. Heck, people thought it was a joke that Burton was even the choice to bring Batman to life anew.

The headline was supposed to be Jack Nicholson’s iconic turn as The Joker, but one could argue that Keaton’s performance and his delivering those iconic Batman quotes, such as “I am Batman!” were equally as exciting as Nicholson in crazy-man’s makeup singing Prince songs.

Oh, and about that -- people not only questioned Burton’s choice of actors to play Batman, but also the hiring of Prince to provide the soundtrack. That worked out pretty darn well also.

Share your memories of the arrival of Batman in the comments section below. Be sure to watch Batman online to relive that glorious movie and click through the slideshow below and see how many of our favorite Batman quotes in history came from that first film that landed in theaters 25 years ago today!

The Purge Anarchy Full Trailer: We Take Lives, Not Save Them

The Purge: Anarchy has released its full trailer and we’ve come a long way from that first The Purge: Anarchy teaser and then the first The Purge: Anarchy trailer.

This time out, we get a full glimpse of what life is like for everyone else outside of the world that was established in the 2013 hit starring Ethan Hawke.

We also got a feeling that Frank Grillo’s character is out on a revenge mission that can only be possible on the one night a year where all crime is legal -- including murder. But, with this trailer, we learn that there are groups of people who kidnap people and auction off the right to kill them to the highest bidder.

This world of The Purge is sick, no?

Writer-director James DeMonaco has greatly expanded the world he established in the first film and we get a real sense of the horrors that happen out in this New America during the yearly 12 hours of anarchy.

Watch The Purge online to get a feeling for what you’re in for when The Purge: Anarchy debuts July 13.

13 Best Movies Based on Song Titles: From Stand By Me to Pretty Woman!

$

When a movie uses the same title as a song, it can either be because the song is featured prominently in the flick (watch Stand By Me online for one example), or because filmmakers are trying to have their audience connect people's love of a song with their movie... watch Can't Hardly Wait online for that example of the Replacements' track and how it fit the Jennifer Love Hewitt flick.

Other times, as seen when you watch Pretty Woman online, not only does the song fit the movie like a glove, but it embodies the entire story impeccably!

But, great movies and song titles don't always work. In fact, more often than not, they fail.

Remember during the '80s when Michael Jackson licensed all those Beatles songs for teen flicks? Yeah, that!

Click through and enjoy our 13 best movies whose titles come from songs we love!

Stand By Me
Rob Reiner's Stand By Me (based on a short story by Stephen King) is a fantastic example of a movie where the song is used in the film, and it also reflects the themes of the ditty.

Fresh off of last week's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes clip, 20th Century Fox has released one today that is called Go!

It shows what happens when Jason Clarke, Keri Russell and their fellow survivors are just mulling along in the forest and come upon a group of apes. Heck, "group" may be too minimal of a word. It's more like a legion!

The apes are not too thrilled about the encounter -- they think all the humans have been wiped out, and when they meet the first humans they've seen in years, it does not necessarily go so well.

When Caesar (Andy Serkis) comes upon the scene, he tells Clarke and his friends, "Go!"

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes lands July 11, and to get ready, be sure to watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes online!

Walt Disney and Pixar have released the first poster and photo from its latest film that arrives June 19, 2015. Inside Out will likely go down as the famed studio’s most envelope-pushing film as it makes each one of the human emotions… a character!

Inside Out has also released its first official synopsis -- check it out:

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith).

The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

The team behind Inside Out is a stellar one to say the least. It includes the Oscar-winning director of Monsters, Inc. and Up!

G.I. Joe 3 Will Be Dwayne Johnson's Movie

With the success of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, one could see why they have given Dwayne Johnson the nickname “Franchise Viagra.” Is there no franchise that he cannot reinvigorate? Fast and Furious, anyone?

Dwayne Johnson Channing Tatum GI Joe Retaliation

Now, according to G.I. Joe movie producer, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the franchise will now be all about the Rock.

Johnson will be back as Roadblock, and look for the franchise to head in the direction where the films will focus on his character and those directly related to him in the mythology.

"It’s interesting, it’s sort of an open possibility right now who could be in it outside of Dwayne [Johnson], he has to be in it. The last movie was really the set up, in a way, for Roadblock to take over,” di Bonaventura told Collider.

“Dwayne came aboard a little late last time so we weren’t able to do everything I think we can do this time, and really get a story that services what the audience expects out of him, and also as an actor pushes him into areas that you wouldn’t normally explore in a big franchise movie perhaps. We have not talked about any other cast or anything, because we really need a story to be completely signed off by everybody."

We’ll miss ya, Channing Tatum, but we like the sound of this series heading in a direction that will surely Rock… and roll.

Literally see Johnson take over when you watch G.I. Joe: Retaliation online.

The latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer has premiered and it truly sets in motion how these four dynamic heroes will be introduced to an audience who saw them a little differently in the '90s.

Megan Fox, Will Arnett and William Fichtner are the human stars, and behind the camera finds the film produced by Michael Bay (whose Transformers: Age of Extinction is about to be released) and directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans).

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, New York City has come under the evil wrath of Shredder and his Foot Clan gang. With nowhere to turn, hope is all but gone. But, rising up will be Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael!

Fury Poster: Brad Pitt is Battle Worn

The first poster for Fury has landed and it features its star, Brad Pitt, front and center.

We love this shot, because from what we can tell from that recently released Fury featurette, this is a tank crew (led by Pitt) who has fought much of World War II without a break. They are weary, tired and battle-scarred.

Pitt captures that and then some in the first poster.

Fury also stars Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman and Michael Pena and is from director David Ayer (End of Watch, writer of those Training Day quotes).

Check out the poster in the slideshow below, and then click through and check out all our Fury photos. And keep checking back as this gallery will surely expand as the film's November 14 release date inches closer.

Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel play a couple seeking to rekindle that spark. See, it’s kind of hard to make time for each other -- what with the kids and their demanding jobs. But, as you see in the Sex Tape red band trailer, Diaz has an idea to get them going once again.

Why not go through every single sex position in The Joy of Sex book… and tape it!

Great, the only problem is somehow it gets uploaded to the Cloud and everyone they just gave iPads to now has it. So, to borrow the phrase from the behind-the-scenes featurette that just premiered, it’s The Chase to Erase!

The above clip showcases the comedy team of not only Diaz and Segel, but their director Jake Kasdan -- who directed them in Bad Teacher.

Sex Tape also stars Rob Corddry, Ellie Kemper and Rob Lowe and lands July 18.

300 Rise of an Empire DVD Review: Bring the Battle Home!

$
0
0

In 2007, the film 300 became an unexpected phenomenon, and now a follow-up has arrived in 300: Rise of an Empire that is not quite a sequel, but more of a companion piece.

300: Rise of an Empire DVD Cover

The events of 300: Rise of an Empire take place practically concurrently with those in 300 and they show the affect news of the loss of “the 300” has had on the rest of the Greek nation states who are trying to hold off an advancing Persian army.

300: Rise of an Empire has landed on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download and it stars an out-of-this-world Eva Green as the Greek-born, Persian-raised military leader Artemisia and Sullivan Stapleton as Themistokles.

Themistokles believes that only a united Greece can defeat the Persians, but there are few that share his view, not even Lena Headey’s Spartan Queen, Gorgo -- who lost her husband (Gerard Butler) in the battle of 300.

Stapleton meets Green’s performance note for note. His Themistokles fights cunningly in this war for the heart of Greece. He sees it as a larger battle. Persia must be beaten back by these Greek city-states for his country to even continue to exist.

Director Noam Murro has taken over the helming duties from visionary Zack Snyder, but Snyder and his producing partner wife Deborah are still overseeing the entire series. And that fact could explain why this still is a visual marvel and, dare we say it, further expands the movie magic we see on screen.

What sets Murro’s film apart -- as we stated in our theatrical 300: Rise of an Empire review -- is this time, a majority of the battle takes place at sea. The cinematic wizardry it took to create these scenes is stunning and that is why the bonus features on the 300: Rise of an Empire are practically as must-see as the movie itself for fans of 300.

We have to start with the featurette Brutal Artistry as it showcases what audiences adored about 300 and also treasured about its follow-up. There is something truly unique and envelope-pushing about how this film’s war sequences are shot. It is almost violence as ballet and Snyder and Murro explain the method to their mastery throughout Brutal Artistry.

The 300 Effect also picks up on that fact in that Snyder and company explain that the first film truly revolutionized how action sequences are shot and how now they are a victim, in some ways, of their own success. The highest form of flattery is imitation, sure, but what if you are seeking to push the visual envelope even further -- which they do in 300: Rise of an Empire.

Eva Green Stars 300 Rise of an Empire

And since Green’s character seems so revolutionary, the Women Warriors featurette is a don’t-miss. Not only does it showcase the amazing performance, dramatically and action-wise of Green, but it shows that female warrior leaders were in fact not rare in this time period. Artemisia is merely the embodiment of others who really fought the good fight, right alongside the men.

And as we mentioned above, Murro ups the ante by taking much of the battle to the raging sea. As anyone who follows movies knows, that is one challenging task to say the least. The bonus feature Taking the Battle to the Sea explores that fact and gives priceless insight into how Murro and his team managed to tame the high seas to get the shots they needed.

Lastly, for history buffs like us here at Movie Fanatic, the featurette Real Leaders & Legends is a fascinating look at the real souls who battled during these Persian and Greek wars and it truly gives an element of realism to the fantasy fights we witness in 300: Rise of an Empire.

Be sure to watch 300: Rise of an Empire online and check out the cinematic wizardry we're saluting! And if you're new to this world, watch 300 online and dive in right now!
