Although it does not arrive until November 6, one of our most anticipated family movies of 2015 is the Peanuts movie. Peanuts Snoopy Photo

And clearly someone at Fox and Blue Sky knows that as they released a terrifically entertaining Peanuts trailer this first Monday of the New Year! And it focuses on our favorite character and his sidekick.

In the above teaser, we see Snoopy doing his best ace fighter routine -- taking off to battle his old foe, The Red Baron. That effort will take him to Paris, where he has the challenge of flying around, over and through the Eiffel Tower!

Fox and Blue Sky have brought to life the entire Charles Schulz gang for a new CG, 3D, animated fest that promises to have us all singing that little piano jam that Linus played so well all year long as we gear up for Peanuts!

Peanuts has come a long way since its debut as a comic strip. It became the most popular strip in the world, viewed by 355 million people, launched countless Emmy winning holiday TV specials watched by millions and now will hit the big screen for a whole new generation.

Sure it's a highly anticipated 2015 flick, but is Peanuts one of our top 15 most anticipated movies of 2015

    The Peanuts Movie Teaser Poster
Yup, time for Snoopy and Woodstock to take a nap.

Tom Hardy takes over as Mad Max in George Miller’s return to the series he created and has helmed every sequel since Mel Gibson became a superstar in the first one in the early '80s.

Warner Bros. has released an army of photos for one of our most anticipated movies of 2015 -- Mad Max Fury Road -- that also shows off a look at Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult’s characters, as well as a first image of our villain(s).

And if these photos are any indication (like the Mad Max Fury Road trailer was), this flick that lands May 15 is out of this world nuts -- and that is exactly how we like our Mad Max movies.

For those new to the franchise, Mad Max imagines a world that has turned into a wasteland of crazies driving cars in search of gas, food and water, as all are in short supply. Max is a reluctant hero, and one unlike we've ever seen before.

We think that casting of Hardy is brilliant and can't wait to see him take over the series.

Mad Max Fury Road also stars Zoe Kravitz!

Tom Hardy Fights Off a Chainsaw
Is Leatherface in this flick? But seriously, talk about an action sequence. Tom Hardy's Mad Max fighting for his life on a car racing through the Australian outback while a man with a chainsaw seeks to kill him!

Now that 2014 is in the books and we know who the top grossing film of 2014 was, Guardians of the Galaxy, we can look at some other numbers and how they paint the picture for the financials of cinema for the last year. Guess who is on top of the mountain with a record gross for 2014? Yup, 20th Century Fox made $5.5 billion in 2014, which takes the old record to school by more than $350 million!

X-Men Days of Future Past Cast Poster

Fox had many, many blockbuster hits in 2014, among them X-Men: Days of Future Past, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

They also scored some serious profit on some smaller films, including The Fault in Our Stars, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, The Maze Runner and closed out the year with a bang with Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.

"This was a remarkable year for our studio, thanks to the talent of our filmmakers and our teams’ incredible work ethic, devotion and spirit. We are all very proud of this success, and look forward to an even brighter 2015 and beyond,” said Paul Hanneman and Tomas Jegeus, co-presidents of worldwide theatrical marketing and distribution, in a statement.

Fox is on somewhat of a roll of late. They have, in fact, been the highest grossing studio in four of the last six years!

X-Men: Days of Future Past led the way with $748 million globally, followed closely behind by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes with an international gross of $709 million.

What else is impressive about Fox’s year is that they had 13 titles go over the coveted $100 million mark. Cheers indeed to the legendary Hollywood studio.

You can check out two of those blockbusters right now when you watch Dawn of the Planet of the Apes online and watch X-Men: Days of Future Past online.

And be sure to click through and discover our favorite quotes from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes!

Jason Clarke reminds Caesar of James Franco. And that is a very good thing.

The Producers Guild of America has announced its nominees for 2014 films as their awards are set to be handed out January 24.

There are a few interesting additions, in that films such as Gone Girl and Nightcrawler didn’t make the cut of some other awards that have been announced of yet. We applaud both as they were part of our Top 15 of 2014 list.

Gone Girl Ben Affleck Rosamund Pike Poster

What is fascinating is what is absent from the list that is as follows:

    • American Sniper
    • Birdman
    • Boyhood
    • Foxcatcher
    • Gone Girl
    • The Grand Budapest Hotel
    • The Imitation Game
    • Nightcrawler
    • The Theory of Everything
    • Whiplash

See who’s not on this list? And before just now, we’d say it was the leader of the pack for the Best Picture Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards. Yup, Ava DuVernay’s Selma did not make the cut, and neither did Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken -- two female directors and two huge snubs.

The guild also announced nominations for Best Animated Feature and they are:

    • Big Hero 6
    • The Book of Life
    • The Boxtrolls
    • How to Train Your Dragon 2
    • The LEGO Movie

Several of these titles you can see right now! Watch The Grand Budapest Hotel online and watch The LEGO Movie online.

Since the David Fincher nominated film had some of our favorite movie quotes of the year, check out the best Gone Girl quotes in the slideshow below.

I will practice believing my husband loves me but I could be wrong.

I will practice believing my husband loves me but I could be wrong. I feel like something to be jettisoned if necessary. I feel like I could disappear. I've finally realized that I am frightened of my own husband. The man of my dreams, this man of mine might kill me. This man may truly kill me."

    Amy Dunne
Ah, wait, what? Yeah, it's clear that Gone Girl is no love story. Not. Even. Close.

The movie may have given us those memorable Back to the Future Part II quotes, but in terms of predicting the future life for ourselves in 2015, some things were way, way off.

    Hoverboards
Sure, we wish there were hoverboards that work like skateboards but fly in the air. But, we haven't even conquered gravity yet in 2015, so these puppies are a ways off.

The first poster and still from The Lazarus Effect shows us just how off the wall crazy this horror flick could be. The film is from Blumhouse Productions and if anyone can take a low budget horror flick and make it awesome, it is the group that brought us The Purge, Insidious and of course Paranormal Activity.

The film stars Olivia Wilde as one of a group of graduate research students trying to unlock the secrets of the human brain. When one of their own dies, it unleashes a force that no one could see coming. And we’re guessing, it’s not good.

Wilde is joined in The Lazarus Effect cast by Mark Duplass, Donald Glover, Evan Peters (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Sara Bolger.

Look for it February 27 and stay with Movie Fanatic for more on this intriguing sounding movie. Until then, check out one of Blumhouse’s best and watch Insidious online.

Olivia Wilde doesn't look quite right in the first poster for The Lazarus Effect. Perhaps it's something she ate.

Paramount Pictures has released a new photo from the upcoming Terminator: Genisys and it features a familiar face for those who adore the series started by James Cameron back in the early 80s.

It’s the Terminator himself (or is it herself?!).

As teased in the Terminator: Genisys teaser trailer, this is a whole new world that Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) has created that essentially re-writes the timeline set forth when you watch The Terminator online.

This time out, it is Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) who is doing the saving as Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) heads back in time at the order of John Connor (Jason Clarke). Wild, huh?!

Look for Terminator Genisys to open on July 1 and check out these 11 most iconic Terminator quotes to get you in the mood to return to the world where Skynet takes over.

Hot on the heels of its Ant-Man ant-sized teaser trailer, Marvel has released a similarly themed poster for its upcoming debut of its smallest, and mightiest, superhero.

The full length Ant-Man trailer is set to premiere tonight during the pilot episode of Marvel’s Agent Carter on ABC.

Stay with Movie Fanatic for that premiere, and until then, marvel (get it?) at the first poster for this highly anticipated film that is set to hit theaters July 17.

Ant-Man features Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas as the guys who will be primarily involved in bringing Ant-Man to life. Also in the mix is Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stohl.

When Dr. Pym (Douglas) has a secret Ant-Man suit stolen, he and Scott Lang (a master thief played by Paul Rudd) must work together to steal it back. It is Marvel’s first heist movie and that is just one reason it is among our most anticipated movies of 2015.

Check out that Ant-Man poster and don’t miss the premiere of the trailer later today!

As we’ve repeatedly reported, we think 2015 is set to be the most incredible year in movie history. Sure, there are a few titles that grab headlines like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

But, 2015 is going to be one heck of a hilarious year for comedies as well. Like what, you ask?

The man who gave us so many Anchorman quotes is back!

And when you watch Pitch Perfect online, you know you want to see the Bellas singing their hearts out while making us laugh out loud.

Some of comedy's biggest stars are out in 2015, such as Will Ferrell, Sacha Baron Cohen, Johnny Depp (yes, he’s hilarious!), Bill Murray and even a Monty Python reunion (of sorts)!

Watch Ted online and you’ll be more than ready for that film’s sequel that finds us eager to see what that foul-mouthed teddy bear does next!

So, sit back and prepare to LOL in anticipation as we present the 15 most anticipated comedies of 2015.

    The Wedding Ringer
January 16 Kevin Hart and Josh Gad are a comic dream team in this story about a guy (Hart) who has a business that provides Best Man and groomsmen services for guys with no friends (like Gad). Gad is about to marry Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and he needs the “golden tux.” Yup, the whole package… seven groomsmen. Together, they will pull off the biggest wedding con, and heart and hilarity (we promise) will ensue.

The Oscar nominations will be revealed on January 15 and it has been a pretty fantastic year for film. We do not envy those who have to vote and find a way to bring a field of at least 20 contenders to a maximum of 10.

    Gone Girl Stars Ben Affleck

The Academy expanded the potential nominees for Best Picture to 10 recently, but last year it only anointed nine films worthy of contending for the movie world’s top prize.

We think if there ever was a year that would warrant all 10 spots being filled it is the year that was, 2014.

We at Movie Fanatic’s Oscar Watch believe we know who those 10 nominees will be (and even have a good idea who will win, but more on that later!).

Boyhood seems to have all the momentum right now, but we must stress that it is early. It took the New York Film Critics' top honor yesterday, and has done the same with several other critics organizations.

    But, don’t count Selma out.

The story of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his historic march from Selma to Montgomery could easily find itself with the most nominations when they’re announced next week. It will surely get a Best Picture nod, even though it was snubbed by the Producers Guild nominations just yesterday.

So, who will make the cut? Click through and see our predictions for the 10 nominees for Best Picture at the 2015 Oscars.

Watch The Grand Budapest Hotel online, and there’s a hint as to one of those we think will hear their name called January 15.

    Boyhood
Boyhood is currently our front-runner, so there is no doubt that Richard Linklater's astounding 12-year journey with Boyhood will win a Best Picture nomination.

The Razzie nominations have been announced and the annual look at the worst in film has a real race on its hands. Transformers: Age of Extinction scored nine nominations, including Worst Picture. It was followed closely behind by The Legend of Hercules and A Million Ways to Die in the West, each with eight nominations.

    Transformers: Age of Extinction Cast

We just predicted who would be Best Picture nominees for the Oscars, so it's only fitting that we follow up the potential best with the potential worst!

Also of note is the large number of nods that Kirk Cameron got for his Saving Christmas, as well as another film that sits in that genre, Atlas Shrugged: Part III.

Among the Worst Actresses who will likely not show up to pick up their award is Cameron Diaz for Sex Tape and Elizabeth Banks who totally deserved it for Walk of Shame. The first trailer and images from Good Kill have arrived and the movie from Andrew Niccol could not be timelier.

Ethan Hawke (coming off the success of Boyhood) reunites with his Gattaca and Lord of War director for a story about a fighter pilot who has done numerous tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, he’s stationed in Las Vegas where he’s one of the military’s best drone fighter pilots.

Killing people from afar starts to take its toll on Hawke and that complicates things at home with his wife (January Jones) and his kids. He’s thrilled to be home, and she’s thrilled to have him home, but the emotional turmoil he goes through is immense.

Good Kill will be released sometime this year by IFC. Stay with Movie Fanatic for details.

Besides being from one of our favorite directors and featuring one of our favorite actors in Hawke, it also features another towering talent in Bruce Greenwood plus Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class).

Check out the photos and poster below in the Good Kill slideshow.

One of our favorite characters in the X-Men world, Gambit, is getting his own movie starring Channing Tatum as the superhero. Now, we know when we can see it.

    Gambit Comic Photo

Fox has announced that it will follow up its record-breaking box office year with plans for Gambit to land October 7, 2016. And there is word that we may first see Tatum as Gambit in the upcoming Bryan Singer sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse.

Tatum, a product of the south, is clearly proud of committing to this upcoming Fox project.

“Gambit was always like the woman-loving, cigarette-smoking, drinking guy,” Tatum said.

“He was the punk rock of all the superheroes. He’s a thief -- he kind of rode the line.”

The wait is over and we finally have our first look at the Ant-Man teaser trailer. It premiered during the first episode of the famed comic book studio's new show, Marvel’s Agent Carter

Our first impression is that it appears that the studio with the Midas touch isn’t losing it any time soon. The second thing that popped into our head, and maybe it’s something that doesn’t get said enough, these guys know how to cast.

Who would have thought that Chris Pratt would be a great Marvel superhero? He was in Guardians of the Galaxy. And clearly from this two-minute Ant-Man teaser, Paul Rudd is also impeccable and believable as a Marvel superhero.

We truly get the impression from the teaser that the word that Ant-Man is also Marvel’s first true heist movie is also the case.

It is an introductory teaser, sure, but Rudd’s Scott Lang is a master thief and he’s given a second chance by Dr. Hank Pym (again, brilliant casting with Michael Douglas in his first superhero movie) to have Lang become the hero his daughter already thinks he is.

And then there’s that Marvel sense of humor that has permeated most of their films. It arrives with Rudd’s last line.

Did we mention how much we enjoyed this Ant-Man teaser trailer? Time to go watch it again, and again.

Nathan Ellis plays Bobby Byrd in Get On Up, the best friend and long time collaborator of James Brown. As seen in the Get On Up trailer, Byrd is someone who had a front row seat to an icon and likewise, Ellis had incredible insight to the explosive performance by Chadwick Boseman as Brown in the Tate Taylor biopic, out now on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download.

Get On Up Chadwick Boseman Nelsan Ellis

We caught up with Ellis for an exclusive chat where he talked about the secret to what made Brown such a legend as well as what it was that had Boseman capturing lightning in a bottle that is the persona of the Hardest Working Man in Showbiz.

Movie Fanatic: There are so many things that Bobby goes through and knowing Mr. Brown, there is only so much he could say. So much had to be internalized, when you first dove into it, what surprised you about Bobby Byrd?

Nathan Ellis: How powerful he was in his silence. He had to hold things in because I’m sure he had a lot to say but he couldn’t because of how tyrannical James Brown could be as some of the things you saw in Get On Up. I had to look at all these things that this man wanted to say, but he couldn’t say it. But he had to look like because that’s just human nature. That’s how powerful he must have been just to have taken a lot of what he had to take and not say anything about it.

Movie Fanatic: That comes through. You say so much with just your face and how you hold your body. You might not have an answer, but why do you think he stayed with him so long?

Nathan Ellis: [Laughs] Ha, ha, ha – that’s the question! Because he loved him, that was his brother. They were together since they were teenagers. When James Brown got out of prison, he came and lived in Bobby Byrd’s house. That was his dude. That’s why he stayed. He had a regal notion of loyalty.

Movie Fanatic: That’s something that’s rare in the music business.

Nathan Ellis: It is a rare quality in most people. I know a few folks who are like that… maybe it’s not that rare.

Movie Fanatic: I talked to Tate Taylor earlier and I can’t think of a better person to bring this story to life. What most impressed you about him?

Nathan Ellis: He’s a great storyteller. He gets into the guts of what’s going on. He don’t mind re-writing a scene right there at that moment to find the truth of a story. That’s a marvelous thing about Tate. He could scrap something because it’s not working and say, “Let’s find out how to fix it.” He’s a true collaborator. He’s sharp.

Movie Fanatic: I got to ask about Chadwick. I used the word hurricane to describe his performance in my Get On Up review to describe what he did in this movie. One, why do you think he was right for this role and two, what did you take away from working with the soon-to-be Black Panther.

Nathan Ellis: To be honest, after seeing him play James Brown, I couldn’t see anybody else. He had James Brown’s pizzazz, showmanship, his funk and his dirty and his monster-ness. He had a stir of all that goodness of what made James Brown who he was. And he can dance his a-hole off.

Movie Fanatic: You worked on this movie, and as such you are intimately involved with the world of James Brown. But, I suspect you are also a fan of the man. Is it hard for you to choose a favorite James Brown song?

Nathan Ellis: Nope. Say It Loud I’m Black and I’m Proud is my first and Sex Machine is my second.

    Get On Up Blu-Ray

Movie Fanatic: What do think it was that was so special about James Brown living in his world for so many months as you did?

Nathan Ellis: His mother left and his father left and he was living with a woman who ran a brothel. Then, he went to prison and then he went to live with Bobby Byrd. Before he lived with Bobby Byrd, his trajectory was… really? Bobby discovered him in prison. He asked his mama, “Can he come and live with us?” And that was the turn of his fate. Bobby put him in the Famous Flames and sooner or later he became the front man. It would be virtually impossible to go through all the stuff he went through and he still became the Godfather of Soul.

Spectre has started shooting and Daniel Craig is back for his fourth turn as James Bond and this time out, it promises to be more dangerous and perilous than ever.

The Sam Mendes-directed shoot is filming all over the globe, but currently they are in the Austrian Alps for a series of scenes that will keep them there in the wintry paradise until February.

EON Productions, MGM and Sony have released a series of set photos showing our hero, Craig, along with his cinematic nemesis Dave Bautista and his Bond girl, Lea Seydoux. They appear to be enjoying themselves as word is from the Austrian film crew that there are some seriously action heavy scenes being filmed there.

The site, specifically, is Solden, a huge tourist locale that features the Rettenbach glacier. There will be action sequences featuring Bond (and we’re guessing he’s running away or to Bautista) on a cable car and a chase scene involving the iconic glacier and tunnel.

The Spectre cast also includes Ralph Fiennes, marking his first full turn as M, Christoph Waltz as our main villain, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ben Wishaw as Q and Monica Bellucci as a Bond girl (who we suspect might be the head of Spectre… what?!).

Click through and check out the set photos from Spectre and then watch Skyfall online to see where we left off.

Hot on the heels of that haunting The Lazarus Effect poster and still premiere that featured an awfully evil looking Olivia Wilde, we have the horror film’s first trailer.

Wilde plays a part of a team of graduate students who is looking into the inner workings of the brain and its role in life and death.

After Wilde accidentally dies during an experiment, her lover (Mark Duplass) is moved by emotion and gives her the drug that they’ve been testing on dead animals. When she wakes up, things are not so kosher.

The Lazarus Effect also stars Evan Peters (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Donald Glover.

Look for the horror flick to scare up interest when it lands February 27.

The Interview has banked over $31 million so far in online and on demand sales in its first 10 days, Sony has reported.

Seth Rogen James Franco The Interview

Seth Rogen and James Franco have a little celebrating to do as it appears that their film is on its way to becoming the online rental world's first blockbuster. The Interview made $15 million online in its first four days and has not looked back since.

As we stated in our The Interview review, the film is a pretty funny political satire and it shows immediately why Franco and Rogen are such a comic dream team.

The Interview has made $5 million in a limited theatrical run, which brings its cume to $36 million, about half of the budget for the film -- including marketing costs.

Sure, the film was supposed to open on 3,000 screens. But, due to highly discussed (all the way to POTUS!) threats to the film and anyone who showed the film, many theaters dropped the film and Sony brought it online… where it is flourishing.

Watch The Interview online and you can join the conversation!
