Will Smith is back in Focus and the con-man thriller is a stylized joyride that showcases why audiences fell in love with the superstar in the first place.
Smith can deliver movie quotes with the best of them and over his career has compiled a long list of memorable lines from some of our favorite movies.
We’ve gathered 15 of the absolute best Smith quotes and we think you’ll agree that these are a virtual chronicle of the hits of one of our most beloved performers.
Watch Independence Day online and you know there has to be more than one on our list! And those Hitch quotes, well, they have provided go-to lines for real life men and women trying to find “the one!”
Click through and discover what we think are the 15 best Will Smith movie quotes ever uttered by the Fresh Prince.
That's what you get! Ha Ha! Look at you! Ship's all banged up! Who's the man? Huh? Who's the man? Wait till I get another plane! I'm a line ya friends up right beside you! Where ya at, huh? Where ya at?
That's what you get! Amen to that, and Independence Day's Captain Hiller is just getting started.
Christopher Gardner: Don't ever let someone tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. Christopher: [silent] Christopher Gardner: All right? You got a dream… You gotta protect it. People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want somethin’, go get it. Period. Christopher: All right.
Will Smith as Hitch provided many a memorable moment, but we think this takes the cake.
Yep... Inside each and every one of us is one true authentic swing... Somethin' we was born with... Somethin' that's ours and ours alone... Somethin' that can't be taught to ya or learned... Somethin' that got to be remembered... Over time the world can, rob us of that swing... It get buried inside us under all our wouldas and couldas and shouldas... Some folk even forget what their swing was like...
Will Smith makes his big screen debut in Six Degress of Separation, and boy, does he make his mark.
Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity Kitai. Do not misunderstand me, danger is very real, but fear is a choice. We are all telling ourselves a story and that day mine changed.
There might not be a lot to like about After Earth, but this quote right here... it's downright profound.
My name is Robert Neville. I am a survivor living in New York City. I will be at the South Street Seaport everyday, at midday, when the sun is highest in the sky.
Who knew when you went to see Bad Boys that you'd get a Driving Miss Daisy joke?!
Robert Clayton Dean: I was shopping for some lingerie. That's still legal, isn't it? David Pratt: Were you buying that for your wife? Robert Clayton Dean: No I was picking something up for myself, I do a little cross dressing on the weekends. You know, you'd be surprised how a nice pair of edible panties can make a guy feel sexy.
Wild Wild West might not have been so great, but this line, oh, this line.

Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away.
[to Dr. Lanning's cat] Look, I understand you have experienced a loss, but this relationship just can't work. I mean, you're a cat. I'm black. I'm not going to be hurt again.
The latest Cinderella clip has arrived and it finds Lily James’ title character greeting her new family at her farm estate. Of course, we all know things will go south quite quickly for our young lady.
But, for now, she is eager to meet her stepsisters and her stepmother (Cate Blanchett).
We also learn a bit of something from this Cinderella clip: Helena Bonham Carter is not only the fairy godmother, but also serves as our story’s narrator. That’s a nice touch by director Kenneth Branagh.
Cinderella also stars Richard Madden as Prince Charming and the live action version of the 1950 animated Disney classic would be enough to get us in the theaters on March 13. But the fact that the animated Frozen Fever short film precedes it and catches us up on Anna, Elsa and Olaf -- well, all the better!
We’re eager to see what Branagh has done with the legendary fairy tale. We suspect that he has updated it to make Cinderella not someone who is simply sitting idly by waiting for her prince to come. This has to be an inspiring female character who takes a lot (from those stepsisters and her evil stepmother), but also is able to stand up and fight for herself and her own dreams.
One more thing from the above clip… Blanchett’s cat is named Lucifer?!
In the 20 years it took to make Dumb and Dumber To, those Dumb and Dumber quotes have become legendary. The lines uttered by Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels could be recited verbatim by millions of fans the world over. Therefore, it had to be a huge risk to dive into that “Dumb” pool again for a sequel, but that is exactly what Daniels, Carrey and the Farrelly brothers did.
Now that Dumb and Dumber To is out on Blu-Ray, DVD and digital download, you can see how well they did, or didn’t. When you watch Dumb and Dumber online, it is easy to see why the 1994 comedy became a sensation. The Farrellys pushed the comedic envelope and Carrey was just hitting his stride as a cinematic comedy presence. As we stated in our Dumb and Dumber To review, the sequel is funny, sure, but it nowhere near makes the impact of the first one.
Then again, when creating comedy sequels, that is going to be the norm. Most of what makes a good comedy is that it is funny, clearly, but that it catches us collectively off-guard. Like the Farrelly brothers' There’s Something About Mary, did you have any idea you would laugh as hard as you did watching that Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz classic? No, and the same can be true with Dumb and Dumber. The film had no right to be as funny as it truly was.
So already, Dumb and Dumber To had an uphill fight against expectations and 20 years of anticipation. This might be the best punch line of all: Dumb and Dumber To did twice as well at the box office in its opening weekend as the first film. Adding stars Kathleen Turner, Laurie Holden, and Rob Riggle certainly didn’t hurt. Each brings something unique to this episodic stupidity.
Dumb and Dumber To lets you know immediately from the opening scenes that Lloyd (Carrey) has been in a mental institution for 20 years since we last saw him. Harry (Daniels) has been visiting him incredibly frequently. But on this day, Harry will be in for a surprise. This is no spoiler, it’s in the Dumb and Dumber To trailer! Lloyd gets up from his wheelchair and lets Harry know it’s all been one (long) joke. Ha!
The two get into the meat of the story when they learn that Harry has a daughter and she’s a grown woman. So, the two head (back) out on the road with hopes of finding her and of course a fair amount of hilarity ensues along the way.
Is Dumb and Dumber To funnier than the first film? No. Is it a funny film? Yes, why yes, it is. And as comedies do so well, the bonus features on the Dumb and Dumber To DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download truly add to the experience.
First of all, there’s an alternative beginning that is funny, but we think it takes away from the launching pad that was contained in the theatrical version. The Farrelly brothers did the right thing going with the opening moments that audiences saw last year.

The highlight of the Dumb and Dumber To home video has to be What’s So Smart about Dumb and Dumber To?
The author of Psychology for Dummies, as well as the cast and crew, chime in on why the film is actually good for you. Humor relieves stress, plus its storyline about the importance of family (albeit an odd family) certainly has to resonate with many. We adore how the author admits that being dumb sometimes, is actually good for the body and soul!
There is also a five-part featurette series, That’s Awesome -- The Story of Dumb and Dumber To. The first one takes us back to the beginning with I Like it a Lot. Carrey, Daniels and the Farrelly brothers talk on the set about how the first film got started, the reaction and what on earth took so long to get a sequel. For longtime fans of Dumb and Dumber, this is a can’t-miss.
We also appreciated Chapter 2.5 in the 5-part series, That’s Insane, which takes a look at the all-star cameos that permeate throughout the long-awaited sequel. From fan favorites (the blind bird kid!) to world famous musicians and comedians, blink and you’ll miss them in the movie, they get the full spotlight in That’s Insane.
From the Mutt-mobile to the Zamboni, the vehicles of Dumb and Dumber have always been a source of humor. Discover the bonus feature We’re Gunna Need Some Wheels for a further look inside the Mutt Cutts van and more.
There is also quite a bit of physical humor that pushes the boundaries of what is safe and therefore stunt professionals were used throughout Dumb and Dumber To. See how these scenes were made in the behind-the-scenes short That’s Commitment! Who knew being funny could hurt so bad?!
For those who have an interest in the art of filmmaking for comedy, a true diamond (pun intended) lands with There’s No Diamonds In Here. Go into the editing bay with renowned comedy editor Steve Rasch (from Curb Your Enthusiasm) as he illustrates the tough job of finding the finest funny in a sea of hilarity.
Lastly of course, do not miss the gag reel. Make sure no food or drinks are consumed while viewing it!
Harry Dunne: Come on, Lloyd. You gotta get over her. Mary Samsonite was just a girl. Harry Dunne: That's it, kid. Come on, come on, come on! Spit it out. Lloyd Christmas: GOT YOU! Harry Dunne: Wait a minute. Do you mean you have been faking for 20 years? Lloyd Christmas: Mm-hmm. Harry Dunne: And it was all for a gag? Lloyd Christmas: Yep. Harry Dunne: That's... awesome!
Jim Carrey's Lloyd fakes being insane for two decades. Yup, you're right, Harry, that is awesome!
Lloyd Christmas: Why don't you roll me inside. We can get the nurse to get the catheter out of me. Harry Dunne: We don't need nurses for that. Lloyd Christmas: But don't you have to...
Harry Dunne: That's Butthole. I found him out in the alley. Lloyd Christmas: Why did you name him Butthole? Harry Dunne: 'Cause of this. Lloyd Christmas: Good name. Totally fits.
Dr. Pichlow: I know she'll appreciate all you've gone through to find her. Let's call her. Harry Dunne: It's ringing! Lloyd Christmas: [Answering a pink phone] Whoever this is, we're in the middle of something very important here. Harry Dunne: This is your dad. Lloyd Christmas: What? Hey guys, I know this is weird timing but I gotta take this. It's my dead dad. Harry Dunne: She's got me on hold.
A subtle joke in a world of abrasive ones, ASU gets a slam from Dumb and Dumber To.
Lloyd Christmas: You guys wanna play he who smelt it? Travis: What's that? Harry Dunne: It's complicated so pay attention. Lloyd Christmas: We put the windows up, first one who smells the fart gets a point. Harry Dunne: If you say who dealt it, double points! Travis: I don’t want to play that! Harry Dunne: Ok fine. Lloyd and I will play one on one. Lloyd Christmas: Ya! Travis: How can you play one on one? If you smell a fart and you didn't do it, isn't it obvious the other guy did? Lloyd Christmas: I thought you said you never played before?
Rob Riggle gets in on the Dumb and Dumber To quote action!
Dr. Lewis Meldman: May I ask you a question doctor, and I don’t mean to be insensitive. But, does Dr. Pinchelow has Aspergers? Lloyd Christmas: Probably, I know he doesn’t wipe very well.
The first photo from the highly anticipated Jem and the Holograms movie has landed. The film is based on the highly successful '90s television show about a group of sisters who form the titular band and become bigger than they ever dreamed possible.
Universal also released the film’s first synopsis:
As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a one-in-a-million journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden. In Universal Pictures’ Jem and the Holograms, four aspiring musicians will take the world by storm when they see that the key to creating your own destiny lies in finding your own voice.
The film is produced by Jason Blum, and is directed by Jon M. Chu (who knows a thing or two about music and movies with his work on the Step Up movies).
The film stars Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Hayley Kiyoko, Ryan Guzman, Molly Ringwald and Juliette Lewis.
Hasbro developed the animated TV series and they had to approve of anything we see on the big screen. So, you know if you loved the show, you’re gonna love it when Jem and the Holograms hits theaters on October 23.
Will it join some of our other music-based movie faves?
When Focus star Margot Robbie was college-age in Australia, she didn’t know it, but she scored some training for her role opposite Will Smith as a con woman seeking to learn the biz from Smith’s master.
“I started working on a TV show in Australia, straight out of high school. I missed the whole university experience. I would just go to all the university parties with all my friends, and if anyone was like, ‘Do I know you?’ I’d be like, ‘Yeah, I’m studying here.’ They’d be like, ‘Studying what?’ I’d say, ‘Marine biology.’ I would just pick a new student that I would be every time I went to these university events,” Robbie said of her soiree-related con.
“So I didn’t feel like I missed out on the university experience. It was fun.”
Margot Robbie became a household name from her incredible turn opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, and now she is going toe-to-toe with Smith in the story of a couple of cons and the grifting they do across the film from the makers of Crazy Stupid Love.
“I seem to keep doing films that are like a boy’s club and I’m the only girl,” Robbie said of making Wolf of Wall Street and Focus back to back.“It was fun rolling with these guys. It’s like I inherited a bunch of older brothers. They all took me under their wing and were really wonderful.”
Focus shot, among other places, in Buenos Aires, Argentina and to say the city came alive for the production is an understatement. “There is such vibrancy about that city. It was such an infectious energy. I hope it seeped into the scenes a little bit because we were definitely feeling it,” she reported. “They were exceptionally excited to see Will. The first day of shooting was a little tricky. There was like a wall of people!”
Robbie admitted that she found a kindred spirit to her con woman character and what she does for a living. “I think it really does go hand-in-hand with acting. There’s a lot of that emotional manipulation, and that’s precisely what we do to try to evoke an emotion out of the audience members and make them emotionally invest in something,” Robbie said. “That just raises the stakes and people care so much more.”
It is a really good thing that Robbie and Smith have fantastic chemistry in Focus. They will reunite in Suicide Squad. Robbie said when she first met Smith, she was a little… well, let’s let her tell the story!
“I’d been swimming in Croatia, right before getting the call to come meet Will. It was six in the morning. ‘You need to be doing an audition with Will Smith tomorrow in New York, so your flight’s booked for tonight.’ I was like, ‘Tonight?! Oh, my God!’ I asked the lady at the hostel I was staying at, ‘How do I get off this island? I need to go to the mainland.’ She was like, ‘There’s only one boat a day and it leaves in 20 minutes,’” she recalled.
“I grabbed all my stuff and left half of it in the hostel. I raced and got a catamaran and then got a bus and got another bus, and got to the airport. I waited eight hours, and then I went to France. And then, I went to New York. By the time I got to New York, I’d not slept for well over two days. They had lost my luggage and my audition was about seven hours away. So, I walked into the audition in wet sneakers and denim shorts and a pajama shirt, which was the only dry thing I had before they lost my luggage!”
Chemistry is key because even though it is a con movie, there is a romance at its heart from writer-directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra. “At the core of it, it was a love story. What they do best is tell love stories. I think it’s pretty amazing that we didn’t lose that with all the heists and things that were happening around it. That was the most important part of the story.”
We’ve been hearing about Ridley Scott and his desire to revisit the world of Blade Runner with a Blade Runner 2 for some time. Well, now we can tell you that Blade Runner 2 is a done deal and it is coming soon. Even better, Harrison Ford has signed on to reprise his role as the Replicant hunter!
We always knew that Scott would not direct, but that his handprint would be all over a Blade Runner sequel. The news of who they hired to direct Blade Runner 2 could not have made this Movie Fanatic more fanatical.
Check out our Prisoners review and you’ll see that impressed doesn’t even begin to describe the response we had to the visionary power of the filmmaker, Denis Villeneuve.
Villeneuve will be helming Blade Runner 2 and with Ford attached and Scott producing, this project has got to be given a chance.
Alcon, the studio behind the film, released a statement from its co-founders and co-CEO’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.
“We are honored that Harrison is joining us on this journey with Denis Villeneuve who is a singular talent, as we experienced personally on Prisoners,” said Johnson and Kosove, “Hampton and Michael, with Ridley Scott, have crafted a uniquely potent and faithful sequel to one of the most universally celebrated films of all time, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with this amazing, creative team.”
Blade Runner 2 will start shooting in the summer of 2016 and we suspect that audiences will finally head back into that futuristic world the summer or winter after.
Keanu Reeves proved to be the wisest of people when he passed on a sequel to Speed. We adore Sandra Bullock, but she should have put the breaks on this one.
When a movie is lightning in a bottle, like Blair Witch was, there is no way to recapture magic. Yet, they tried with Blair Witch 2, even gave it a subtitle of Book of Shadows.
Just because you use Roman numerals in the title, doesn't save it from being horrible. Chevy Chase came back for this sequel to a classic and managed to tinge that film's legacy in the process.
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and you know what... I still don't care. Jennifer Love Hewitt and her pals head for a tropical vacation, only to have terror follow them. Audiences, on the other hand, did not.
Jaws was a classic. Jaws 2 added a little something to the mix. Jaws 3D... entered the "why?" realm. Putting the horror in three dimensions was not a reason to return to the Jaws well.
The Mask was a surprise smash and firmly put Jim Carrey on the A-list. Desperate to do a sequel, but not having Carrey, producers should have quit. Instead, they gave us this.
Sense a trend here? Sequels to massive hits, without the original film's star. Never a good sign. Tommy Lee Jones reprised his Oscar-winning role from The Fugitive... Harrison Ford stayed away.
Upon hearing that David Cronenberg was tackling Bruce Wagner's screenplay for Maps to the Stars as his next project, the excitement level for the film skyrocketed. We’ve appreciated Cronenberg’s unique cinematic style of storytelling for decades and to think he was going to point his jaded lens at Hollywood, well… where do we sign up?
Then we saw it. It’s a Cronenberg movie -- that is for sure. And yet, it is still very much a Hollywood-centric movie that has more shades of The Player and other mainstream fare than anything Cronenberg’s done since A History of Violence.
Sure, Maps to the Stars reunites the director with his Cosmopolis star Robert Pattinson. But this film is the Julianne Moore show.
Moore plays Havana Segrand, an actress who has had a pretty solid career, but has fallen on tough times and is finding it impossible to escape her famous actress mother’s shadow. What better way to run right into that issue than by starring in the remake of the movie that made her mom a household name?
If it sounds twisted, it is… and that is pure Cronenberg.
Making matters even more meta-interesting is the arrival of Mia Wasikowska’s Agatha. She somehow connected with Carrie Fisher (the Star Wars: The Force Awakens star plays herself) over Twitter and Fisher gets her a job as Segrand’s assistant. Agatha and Havana’s mother actually (quite oddly) share something in common. They were both burned by fire. Agatha survived her inferno and that horror is what took Segrand’s mum.
There are layers of Hollywood insider dramatic drive that will still resonate for those audiences who don’t live here in La-La land. Maps to the Stars is like an off the rails Sunset Boulevard, which already was a bit on the cuckoo side!
John Cusack plays a guru/massage/life therapist to the stars who coaches Segrand in life issues and he’s pretty solid. Also quite good in the most charming of ways is Pattinson as the limo driver who strikes up a relationship with Agatha that will drive Segrand right up to and against the edge of sanity.
Moore astounds (again). She finds new levels of power in this portrayal that could easily have her considered for next year's Oscar. It's about as complicated a characterization as she's done, and yes, that is saying something.
Why Cronenberg is so perfect for this tale is that as mad as the world appears that we the viewer are occupying for two hours, it all seems completely normal in a film of his! And that is just one reason why we truly recommend this piece. Maps to the Stars is not for everyone, but if you enjoy the director’s work, then his latest will certainly entertain and have you looking at Tinseltown much differently than before.
What is also so fascinating, our Maps to the Stars review has to point out, is that it's a story about Hollywood and movie-making that honestly just circles the drain on that world, and never really goes in.
That is exactly where all of these characters should be found.
When it comes to horror movies, finding something original to say is one of the more difficult tasks a filmmaking team can face, just ask horror producer extraordinaire Jason Blum. Sure, his The Lazarus Effect has shades of Flatliners, but it’s been decades since that film, and this bringing back the dead horror story delves deeper and will surely have people talking about the subject matter when the credits close.
Mark Duplass stars as Frank, and he and his fiance Zoe (Olivia Wilde) work together in a university lab where they are pushing the boundaries of science (and maybe ethics). Their serum, called Lazarus, could potentially give doctors additional minutes when treating someone who is close to death. They have the most noble of intentions, but the experiments suddenly take a much more sinister turn.
As teased in The Lazarus Effect trailer, the team (which includes Donald Glover and Evan Peters, Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past) has some initial success in resuscitating a dog. Completely undeterred by the canine’s bizarre behavior, they proceed with a second experiment, only Zoe gets electrocuted and perishes. Frank swings into action and gives her the serum… and she wakes up.
Yeah, she’s not the same.
Director David Gelb makes a smashing debut with his first narrative feature and it’s easy to see that the man knows how to build the scares from his years cutting trailers. He pulls the most emotionally powerful aspects out of Luke Dawson and Jeremy Slater’s script and, more importantly, he gets the most out of his actors. That fact is so important in a film like this. Gelb also triumphs by avoiding cliches and gives us a totally creepy, riveting and original scare-fest.
What else stands out is this slickly produced horror vehicle manages to raise some questions about life and death and life after death. Both Frank and Zoe sit on different sides of the fence on the issue and it’s fascinating to see a discussion (clearly before she “dies”) where a person of science (Zoe) can say that she believes there’s more to the afterlife than simply ceasing to exist.
Her partner does not see such things -- perhaps that’s why it is so shocking that he takes such drastic measures to bring her back to life. He says he was not ready to let go yet, but maybe the great beyond was not somewhere Frank was ready to let Zoe visit?
Duplass and Wilde make quite a pair, but it is the latter that truly brings the haunting to this terrifying tale. She digs deep and delivers an original and riveting performance. What Wilde shows us as Zoe from the great beyond, is not very pretty.
Our The Lazarus Effect review believes the film as a whole takes the Flatliners premise and goes the distance.
Will Smith is back in Focus, not that he ever really went anywhere. One bad movie (After Earth) and people seemed to have written the movie star off.
In Focus, Smith utters lines that feel like they are Aaron Sorkin-esque in their speed, delivery and power, and it reminds us why we truly enjoy watching this guy on the big screen in the first place (what are our favorite Will Smith movie quotes?).
Smith is Nicky, a long-time con man with a team of specialists who appear -- from what we see -- to be the best in the biz. One night he is picked up by Jess (Margot Robbie) in a hotel bar and when she tries to swindle him in her hotel room under the guise of sex, he sees it coming a mile away. He then proceeds to tell her he followed her upstairs out of “professional curiosity.”
And so begins Nicky and Jess’ are-they-or-aren’t-they romance and his tutelage of her in the art of the con. He sees something in her and it’s a mutual admiration of mastering the illusion that moves money and belongings from other people's pockets to theirs.
From the streets of a Super Bowl-hosting New Orleans to Buenos Aires, Argentina and a Formula 1 racing king (played expertly by the always awesome Rodrigo Santoro), Nicky and Jess do their best to always make their mark and exploit it to the fullest. Con artist movies are a tricky endeavor. We as the audience have to pull for these people to do something that as a society we widely do not condone.
Yet, with stars as magnetic as Smith and Robbie, we want these two to go all the way. And what else is a treat is that they are not always on the same team. In fact, when they are at each other’s throats and dueling for the same prize, that is when Focus is at its most focused. Sometimes, the film does lose that and it gets muddled in the personality of the con artist, instead of delivering a deeper view of the people that are behind this life of swindling.
As we said, Smith is back and has a vehicle with Focus that is slick, charming, visually stunning and allows him to push buttons that he could hit home runs with all day long. That Super Bowl scene, for instance, is out of this world. If this film becomes a hit, which we think it will, that Super Bowl luxury suite moment will be its benchmark. It is stunning and will leave you breathless.
Robbie is a star. There was a reason that Martin Scorsese found her and gave her the shot of the lifetime to appear in The Wolf of Wall Street as Leonardo DiCaprio’s long-suffering wife. What she first teased in terms of brilliance in the Scorsese flick, she sends into the stratosphere in a much richer part in Focus. If she picks correctly, we think this Australian can have a long and successful Hollywood career.
Another reason why Focus works is that amongst the car chases and thrilling mind games, this is a love story. That “Will Jess and Nicky make it work?” mystery is as intriguing as any one of the cons that they pull on unsuspecting saps.
The reason for this element of storytelling is clear when you learn who is giving us Focus. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa’s last film they wrote and directed? It was Crazy, Stupid, Love. These two know their way around making rich characters that audiences pull for, and where in their last flick it was purely romance and comedy, our Focus review finds that their latest adds layers of thrills, intrigue and just all around coolness.
When it was first announced that Disney’s Animal Kingdom was going to have an Avatar theme park, although the idea is pretty awesome, we wondered just how it would look.
In a newly released video, Avatar creator James Cameron got to tour what developers have come up with so far. And yes, it is supremely impressive.
“I think one of the things that people loved about the movie is that they felt as if they had visited Pandora, now, thanks to Disney’s amazing Imagineers, people are going to truly experience Pandora firsthand,” Cameron said. “From the details in the plants to the production and design, extraordinary thought and care has gone into this entire world. The teams have really created something special, and it’s not going to be like anything else.”
The video below arrived courtesy of the Disney Parks Blog and it shows what construction teams have been up to at Disney’s Animal Kingdom since construction commenced early in 2014.
Leonard Nimoy, star of Star Trek and known for so many, many other things, has passed away. The legendary actor, poet, photographer and television host (Remember In Search Of...?!) died at the age of 83 after experiencing chest pains and being taken to the hospital several days ago.
We could not be more thrilled that the actor got to reprise the role that he was most famous for later in his life with his roles as the “older” Spock in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness.
Nimoy took what could have been a cardboard cut-out of the human alien hybrid role of Spock and gave it layers of life that made it one of the most indelible characters in television and movie history.
The superstar was working as an acting teacher at his own school when he was cast in the Star Trek series and although the show would only run for three seasons, it would reach cult status when it went into syndication. He would also appear on Mission: Impossible and we think there has to be a video out there somewhere of him killing it as Tevye on Broadway in Fiddler on the Roof.
Nimoy even got the chance to direct the franchise that made him famous when he helmed Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
More on this story as it arrives. He will be missed.
The news of the death of Leonard Nimoy has hit us hard here in Hollywood today. The man who helped define our childhoods (and what many of us now do for a living) has passed away and those who knew him well and were influenced by his work have reacted on social media.
Here are just a few of the thoughts so far…
"I loved him like a brother. We will all miss his humor, his talent, and his capacity to love," said William Shatner on Twitter.
“Today, the world lost a great man, and I lost a great friend. We return you now to the stars, Leonard. You taught us to 'Live Long And Prosper,' and you indeed did, friend. I shall miss you in so many, many ways,” George Takei said on Facebook.
"My heart is broken. i love you profoundly my dear friend. and i will miss you everyday. may flights…” said “current” Spock, Zachary Quinto, on Twitter.
Even NASA had a comment on its Twitter feed: “RIP Leonard Nimoy. So many of us at NASA were inspired by Star Trek. Boldly go.”
JK Rowling took to her Twitter feed and simply said, “RIP Leonard Nimoy.” But she also posted a quote of Nimoy’s and it’s fantastic. “The miracle is this: The more we share, the more we have.”
“We stood on your shoulders, and wouldn’t have had a galaxy to explore if you hadn’t been there, first. Thank you, Leonard, Rest in peace,” added Will Wheaton.
“Leonard Nimoy brought us one of the greatest, noblest characters in the history of American storytelling. Someone find the Genesis planet,” Seth McFarland said.
"Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... Human. Farewell, Leonard Nimoy - Actor, Director, Pop culture icon,” Kevin Smith said on Twitter, using the iconic Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan quote from Captain Kirk to describe Spock’s death.
Hot on the heels of the first two Avengers: Age of Ultron character posters -- Iron Man and Hulk -- we’ve got not one more, but three additional character posters to brighten up your morning as we mourn Leonard Nimoy’s death and its loss in the sci-fi world.
Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury and he gives us his best fierce Fury gaze in his character poster.
Black Widow is ready for a fight (when isn’t she?) as the Scarlett Johansson character poster lands today as well.
And what Friday would not be complete with a little hammer-time? Thor is the third and final Avengers: Age of Ultron character poster to premiere today.
Robert Downey Jr. said that there is a huge announcement coming when all these character posters debut. With three more landing today, that may be the best news of all that this big reveal is now closer!
The last weekend movie preview for the month of February finds Will Smith returning to his glory with Focus, Olivia Wilde getting wildly horrific in The Lazarus Effect and director David Cronenberg turning his fiery lens on Hollywood in Maps to the Stars.
Let's break it down...
Focus: Smith is one of the best con men in the biz, but he gets his feathers ruffled a bit when he meets Margot Robbie and takes her under his wing. The con is on and this slick thrill ride has one of the most explosive scenes you will see this year. We'll just say three words: Super Bowl con!

As we reported in our Focus review, Smith and Robbie make this film utterly a joy to watch. Sure, there are plot holes. But the combination of the charisma of the two leads and Smith finally having a role that he can remind us why we adored him in the first place makes this flick a winner.
The Lazarus Effect: Wilde dies and is brought back to life by her scientist fiance, played by Mark Duplass. The latest Blumhouse Productions horror flick is pretty original, even if it borrows slightly in concept from Flatliners. Donald Glover and Evan Peters also star in the film that follows what happens when love overtakes logic. Duplass uses his formula to revive his love after she is electrocuted and she comes back to life. Nope, she's not the same -- not even close!
Maps to the Stars: Cronenberg is a director whose style could not be more recognizable. Therefore it is such joy to see him point his camera at the idea of fame and Hollywood. Julianne Moore gives another Oscar-worthy performance as an actress trying to make it big, despite being overshadowed by the fame of her beloved late movie star mother. Mia Wasikowska goes toe-to-toe with Moore, plus John Cusack and Robert Pattinson shine in supporting roles.
When the first Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movie debuted in 2001, Angelina Jolie was twenty-six. We think she was born to be the video game heroine come to life on the silver screen.
If producers are looking to cast the recently announced Tomb Raider reboot around the same age, we have a number of choices to be considered.
Then again, we stretch it a little bit with a few of our choices because we think they have the talent to embody the role and take it to the next level -- some older than Jolie was when she debuted as Croft and some younger.
We present many choices for the casting director depending on what direction they want to go in. Is this an experienced Tomb Raider or a Lara Croft who is just starting her adventures?
For fans of The Walking Dead, you are all too familiar with how the former farm girl turned zombie killer can kick ass. For those of you who might not know Lauren Cohan, the British actress has appeared in smaller roles in smaller films before getting her big break on the AMC smash hit. With the show only shooting a dozen or so episodes at a shot, she would have the time and lord knows she can nail the British accent of Lara Croft. She would make a most fascinating choice for the Tomb Raider reboot.
Emma Watson might be an odd choice. With her petite frame, maybe it might not be the name that pops right to mind when thinking of Lara Croft. But, if you look at the rebooted video game, she kind of has a likeness to that character. But after doing a ton of movies in one franchise, Harry Potter, we’re not sure she’d be ready to do another. Plus, she just agreed to be Belle in Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast.
For fans of Captain America: The First Avenger and now Agent Carter on TV, there can be no better choice to play Lara Croft than Hayley Atwell. She can do action with the best of them, and she’s British, so there’s that.
We think a fantastic choice would be Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters star Gemma Arterton. The woman can act circles around most of her contemporaries, but rarely gets the chance. What she showed in the Hansel & Gretel movie has us believing that they could do quite well with casting the also British Arterton.
Mila Kunis would be an out-of-the-box choice. Sure, she shares a hair color with Lara Croft, but that is probably it. She might be too short for the role, but who cares about that? She can do action, but the big question is, can she do an accent? Angelina Jolie killed it with her British accent in the first two Tomb Raider movies -- we’re just not so sure that Kunis can.
After retiring the franchise The Hunger Games, maybe Jennifer Lawrence would be willing to pick up that bow and arrow again to play Lara Croft. She does have that other franchise, X-Men, going forward and she might want to keep stretching her wings as an actress (like in roles that got her an Oscar -- Silver Linings Playbook -- and a subsequent Oscar nomination for American Hustle) which might keep her from saying yes. But, after seeing her in action, we know she would literally kill in the role.
It seems like every time a female action hero is mentioned, Olivia Wilde’s name gets mentioned. But, she never has gotten those parts. Maybe things change with Lara Croft?
The former MMA fighter Gina Carano could make an interesting argument for being Lara Croft. She can kick ass like no one else on this list, but can she act? She has grown greatly as an actress since her debut in Haywire, but add in doing the accent, hmmm…
The Game of Thrones star (and soon to be seen in Terminator: Genisys) would make a unique Lara Croft. Clarke would truly channel the brainy part of the video game character come to life on the big screen. And as we’ve seen on GOT and soon in the Terminator reboot, those who cross her pay the price! Sounds like Lara Croft to me!
Elizabeth Olsen may be the most talented of the actresses, acting-wise, on our list of those who could be Lara Croft. But with her role as Scarlet Witch in the Avengers series keeping her busy, she might not have the time. But, if JLaw can do two franchises, why can't Olsen? We know she can do the accent. We know she does action. We know she’d be an awesome Lara Croft.
Emily Blunt was supposed to be Black Widow in the Marvel series of films, but passed on the role that eventually went to Scarlett Johansson. After what we saw her do in Edge of Tomorrow, we think Blunt should be right at the top of the list of those thought of for Lara Croft. The only thing, it truly depends what direction this reboot is going -- if they want to go really young, or more experienced. If they started making the movies now, she’d be six years older than Jolie was when she went on her first adventure.
BBC America star of Orphan Black Tatiana Maslany could be the wild card choice in the Lara Croft casting sweepstakes. As anyone who has seen her hit show can say, the actress is absolutely jaw-droppingly amazing. She tackles several roles at once and has a talent tool book unlike any other young actress working today.
If producers of the Tomb Raider reboot wanted to go really, really young, might we suggest Hit Girl herself, Chloe Grace Moretz. The young woman is a supreme talent and she truly knows how to Kick-Ass.
The End.

When that Aquaman poster for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice premiered, the internet practically exploded. Jason Momoa is a born Aquaman and his thrill with being able to talk about it was palpable. He also was quite impressed with the image Zack Snyder released as well.
“Zack Snyder called me up and said, ‘I’m posting this picture now.’ He’s just a genius and I love him to death. He sent it over and we’re in the middle of the editing suite for the thing I’m doing right now, and we all freaked out, man,” Momoa told EW.
“It was so amazing to see it come out.”
So, now that he can talk (a little) more about it, how much will Aquaman’s presence be felt in Snyder’s follow-up to Man of Steel?
“It’s Batman and Superman. It’s not my movie,” Momoa admitted. He stressed that having Batman and Superman share screen time was enough to dominate that picture.
“It’s the first time in history to have them both on the screen together, and I’m just excited to see those two up there. Justice League is still quite a ways away. But I’m looking forward to it. Henry’s a sweetheart. Ben is a badass, so I’m really looking forward to when we all shoot Justice League.”
Look for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice March 25, 2016. Momoa’s solo Aquaman film is slated for July 27, 2018, but we will get to see him as part of Justice League: Part 1 on November 10, 2017.
You want to know how good The Dark Knight is? How about it was the first superhero movie to earn an Oscar in a major category! In fact, Heath Ledger's Joker may be the best superhero villain of all time.
The second Captain America may be the best Marvel movie ever. That surely puts it on this list. It may even be one of the best superhero movies of all time!
We're talking the Richard Donner director's cut here. Watch that and tell us that Superman II isn't one of the best movies of all time, superhero or otherwise.
Sam Raimi's second chapter in his Spider-Man trilogy was simply a terrific film, from beginning to end. The character development, the action sequences, the romance... it all adds up to one fantastic flick.
The animated "super" family The Incredibles really touched a nerve with fans everywhere. So much so, that a decade later, calls for a sequel have finally been answered by Pixar.
Bryan Singer's return to the franchise he started is a stunner. Who would have thought that going back to the 1960s would produce such a powerful flick? Casing James McAvoy as Professor X and Michael Fassbender as Magneto surely didn't hurt things. And Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique is pure brilliance.
Rebooting a franchise is no easy task. But look at what Christopher Nolan did with Batman Begins and he laid the groundwork for one of the best trilogies of all time. Simply astounding.
What a way to introduce The Avengers! Captain America: The First Avenger took us back to the 1940s and by the end of it, we were in Times Square in modern times with Nick Fury there to help our "First Avenger" adjust to the future.
What an original idea! A superhero origins story as a found footage film. And it also introduced the world to the star power of Michael B. Jordan and Dane DeHaan, both of whom have moved on to other "super" projects. Jordan is in Fantastic Four and DeHaan is in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
We adore Michael Keaton as Batman, and his best turn as "The Bat" was in Tim Burton's second film. Can you imagine anyone else but Danny DeVito as the Penguin? Hardly!
Watchmen gets a bad rap. And thank goodness someone thought Zack Snyder did a good job with it and he got to make Man of Steel. But, don't think Watchmen is a truly great superhero movie? Watch it again.
When a filmmaker like Guillermo del Toro is at the helm, anything he makes ought to be great. That is certainly the case with this second chapter in the Hellboy series. And Ron Perlman as Hellboy? Give us more!
X-Men 2 is our favorite Bryan Singer movie. Period. After getting the introducing the characters business out of the way in the first X-Men, he was able to truly give us an action-packed adventure.
Unbreakable seems, at the outset, like it would be a tough sell. But with Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson portraying friends who would become foes out of a superhero movie, M. Night. Shyamalan crafted an origins story that could not have been more original. And in the superhero genre, that is rare indeed.
The Dark Knight Rises is a lesson in how to effectively close out a terrific trilogy. We'll miss you, Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale -- you did Batman fans a huge solid.
Ben Stiller leads a group of average Joes to patrol the streets of their city, thinking that they're superheroes. Between their unique "powers" and the comedic charm of the cast, Mystery Men is a winner.
Most people liked Man of Steel, we LOVED it. Zack Snyder was the perfect choice to bring Superman into the 21st century and his casting of Henry Cavill as Superman, Russell Crowe as his father and Michael Shannon as General Zod makes this one "super" movie.
The End.

In our Will Smith interview for Focus, he said he has become at peace with the idea that not all of his films will open at number one. Well, he doesn’t have to put that new mentality into effect just yet as his latest, Focus, scored the top spot at the weekend box office.
Smith and his co-star Margot Robbie and their true cinematic chemistry toppled the romance of another former number one, Fifty Shades of Grey, and ended its two-week run atop the nation’s weekend box office.
In fact, the EL James page-to-screen effort fell to fourth place as Kingsman: Secret Service and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water kept their positions as number two and three, as they did last week.
Kingsman: The Secret Service has been slowly but surely building itself into a blockbuster. Its latest weekend earnings of $11.8 million brought its total to $85.6 million, and with the popularity of those Kingsman: The Secret Service quotes, one can see a sequel coming from that Matthew Vaughn flick.
Third place found SpongeBob, and the little animated fellow padded its total box office with another $11.2 million. The Nick cartoon turned Paramount motion picture has now banked a total of $140.3 million.
And that leads us to the movie that whipped up such a frenzy in fourth place. Fifty Shades of Grey took in $10.9 million for a total of $147.7 million.
Closing out the top five was the other new movie that arrived on screens this week, the spooky The Lazarus Effect. The Olivia Wilde-Mark Duplass starring horror vehicle earned $10.6 million in its first week.
Weekend Box Office Top 10:
1. Focus, $19.1 million
2. Kingsman: The Secret Service, $11.8 million

Sure, we’ve met the new Jurassic World dinosaur that Bryce Dallas Howard cooked up in that lab in that first Indominus Rex photo.
But really, we just met his (or her!) teeth.
Prepare to see the rest of that monstrous beast and every other dinosaur from Jurassic World, save three, in a series of fresh photos from the film’s viral site.
They’re saving three, the Pachycephalosaurus, Parasaurolophus and the Velociraptors for later... can't wait!
But we have over a dozen renderings of the dinosaurs of Jurassic World in a slideshow below and it is especially impressive because at the end, Universal has released a size chart to see how these beasts stack up against one another.
One of our faves is right in the middle, that Sea World-type attraction that is teased in the Jurassic World trailer.
Jurassic World lands June 12 and stars Chris Pratt, Jake Johnson, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Judy Greer, Omar Sy and brings back B.D. Wong’s character from the first film, that you can see when you watch Jurassic Park online.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron character posters are getting slowly, but surely, unveiled by Marvel Studios. We started with Iron Man and just last week, we unveiled three at once -- Nick Fury, Black Widow and Thor!
Today we have one of our favorites, and more underused characters, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye.
Renner returns as Hawkeye for the second time after his debut in The Avengers. We realize that in this Marvel Cinematic Universe, he is more of a supporting player. But, wouldn't a Hawkeye solo movie be pretty cool?!
Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1 and introduces a few new characters to the mix. There's Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor Johnson as Quicksilver and of course our villain, James Spader as Ultron.
Click through and check out not only our Hawkeye poster, but every single Avengers: Age of Ultron photo that is available!
Also, that shot of Dwayne Johnson wielding that cannon? Michelle Rodriguez sets up that scene beautifully in a line asking him when the cavalry is coming. In a quote that will surely go down in Fast and Furious quotes history, Johnson replies, “I am the cavalry!”
These awesome moments and a tease to the Furious 7 soundtrack all are brilliantly shown off in the latest TV spots for the highly anticipated film that is set to rocket onto screens on April 3.
Gee, how do you think this fight will go between Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham? Well, given that Statham's our bad guy and that this is problably not the final fight, we're guessing he gets out of the beating somehow!
