25 Incredible Movie Kisses in the Rain

We're putting together a pretty definitive list of movie kisses in the rain. If you think of more, send us a pic and we'll add them!

What are your favorites? Considering how iconic they can be, it's almost impossible to think they're aren't more of them, isn't it?

1. Breakfast at Tiffany's

Breakfast at tiffanys
So much sophistication all tossed aside for the romance of a sopping wet kiss, Cat squished between Audrey Hepburn's Holly Golightly and George Peppard's Paul Varjak.

2. Daredevil

Daredevil
Blind devotion between Daredevil Ben Affleck and his Elektra, Jennifer Garner. Terrible movie, but years later the two fell in love and got married. Then divorced. Hmmm. I'm not sure what that says about the kiss.

3. Four Weddings and a Funeral

Four weddings and a funeral
"Is it raining? I hadn't noticed." That's a widely panned line from an otherwise good movie directly related to the kissing in the rain scene. Heck, Andie McDowell and Hugh Grant still look great!

4. Sliding Doors

Sliding doors
Gwyneth Paltrow was living alternate versions of her life in this drama, and the rainy kiss with co-star John Hanna happened at a very pivotal moment for the characters. I won't give it away. Watch to find out if long hair or pixie cut wins!

5. High School Musical

High school musical
High School Musical's Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgen's even got in on the kissing in the rain action. Of course!

Get an Early Peek at the Telluride Documentary: Time to Choose

Oscar winner Charles Ferguson's latest documentary, Time To Choose, premiered last night at the Telluride Film Festival.

It certainly has an agenda as it's all about climate change. There isn't a climate change doc out there that doesn't have something specific to say.

The official information on the film is as follows:

Oscar-winning documentary director Charles Ferguson turns his lens to address global climate change in a new film showing the breadth of the climate challenge, the power of solutions already available, and the remarkable people working to save our planet - from American farmers and African villagers to Indonesian anti-corruption officials and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs.

In the clip, it sure seems like a good idea to allow the citizens of Nairobi to buy a solar panel so they aren't dependent on paraffin and will own their own power source within a year. See for yourself and seek out the film if you get a chance.

Chris Evans Eager to Continue Playing Captain America

Last year, during a sit down with Variety magazine, Chris Evans said he was ready to walk away from acting altogether after Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2 comes out in 2019, but he seems to have had a change of heart.

Avengers Age of Ultron Captain America

While out promoting his directorial debut, Before We Go, Chris told Collider he wasn't ready to say goodbye to Captain America. "Listen, if Marvel wants me they got me. I've never had such a relationship where you have such – I mean look at my resume, I'm used to being on set being like, 'Ah is this movie gonna be terrible?' Marvel just can't stop making great movies, they do it in their sleep. It's wonderful directors and producers and actors and scripts, and it's like a playground as an actor."

Of course it doesn't come as a huge surprise that Evan's would want to stick around as Captain America considering the recent development of Kevin Feige gaining more control at Marvel Studios which will provide all of the actors more leeway over their deals.

Are you looking forward to seeing Chris Evans continue his role as Captain America?

If you want to see Chris Evans in a different role be sure to check out his film Before We Go about two strangers (Chris Evans, Alice Eve) stuck in Manhattan for the night grow to trust each other and confront their fears and take control of their lives.

Our Brand is Crisis Trailer: Sandra Bullock is Back!

This is a really long trailer, bolstered by some classic rock.

Honestly, I'd watch Sandra Bullock (Gravity) in just about anything, but it worries me when the music overshadows so much of the trailer. I'll consider that a measure of excitement and nothing more. That said, she's playing campaign manager "Calamity" Jane Bodine and Our Brand is Crisis (terrible title, but it's from a documentary with the same name) is backed by George Clooney and based upon a real woman. Bullock is great at this stuff.

She's surrounded by a cast including Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo), Scoot NcNairy (Halt and Catch FireArgo) and Ann Dowd (The Leftovers).

It's about Jane's return from self-imposed retirement to represent a Bolivian presidential candidate and facing off against her biggest personal opponent (Thornton). There are a ton of Oscar winners involved on all levels and it's likely this one will earn some people new nominations. Take a look!

Demolition Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal Struggles to Rebuild

Don't be shocked, but in Demolition, Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Southpaw), is playing a normal man. He's not crazy for any other reason than grief, from what I can tell, and that's something with which we can all relate.

I mention it because Gyllenhaal has been attacking roles with quirks of late and doing something a little more identifiable is a welcome change. He looks good, healthy. He's not scary skinny or overly fit. I don't know why it matters and maybe it doesn't to any of you. It's just nice to know he's still interested in the sheer drama of everyday life.

After his wife dies in a car crash, Davis (Gyllenhaal) writes an angry letter to a vending machine company that disappointed him when he desperately wanted M&Ms after a tragic incident. The letter grabs the attention of company employee Karen, (Naomi Watts, Insurgent), who will somehow help him rediscover life after the incident.

My first thought is it's probably too early for him to be thinking about a new woman, especially one with a son (which Karen has), but it's a two-hour movie, and things move quickly in film.

As an aside, is there something special about being an "investment banker" that it must be mentioned as Davis' profession? Having worked for them for years, I can't think of a single thing that sets them apart from other businessmen merely by the title "investment banker."

Demolition will hit theaters April 8, 2016.

Krampus Trailer: The Grinch Meets Christmas Vacation?!

Heck, it's still summer, but after watching this trailer (alright, the summer heat hasn't helped), I'm yearning for Christmas!

Combining some of the very best things in what seems like a blend of horror's The Grinch meets Christmas Vacation with a comedic cast including Adam Scott (Step Brothers), Toni Collette (The Way, Way Back), Allison Tolman (Fargo) and David Koechner (Anchorman), among others, this looks practically perfect.

Beware your lack of Christmas spirit, because it could just unleash the evil of Krampus, the shadow of St. Nicholas comes with his helpers to take, not to give. It looks like what he wants is your lives.

"It's Christmas. Nothing bad is going to happen on Christmas." Hold that thought! Watch the trailer and let us know what you think!

8 Movies Marking Christopher Nolan's Greatness

It was finally announced that Christopher Nolan's next movie will be released through Warner Bros. in 2017. There is no word what it will be. Frankly, details are nonexistent other than the release date of July 21, 2017 – just in time to do battle with Pitch Perfect 3!

While we nervously await more detailed news, let's revisit some of his greatest works, such as the 2014 wonder Interstellar, the amazing Inception and the mind-frak that was Memento, among others.

Click through and discover our top 8 Christopher Nolan movies.

8. The Dark Knight Rises

The dark knight rises poster
We love the Dark Knight trilogy, but of the three films, we think The Dark Knight Rises is the weakest. And, honestly, it starts our countdown simply due to the escalating quality of the films that come ahead of this final chapter in Christopher Nolan's career.

7. Insomnia

Insomnia movie poster
Insomnia was Nolan's follow-up to Memento and although it didn't grab audiences by the neck like his previous one did, it was still pretty stellar. And seeing him get that wicked performance out of Robin Williams? Priceless!

6. Batman Begins

Batman begins photo
Batman Begins began the wider audience love affair with Christopher Nolan that still carries through to this day. People wondered how you reboot a franchise that started so brilliantly with Tim Burton more than a decade prior. With Christopher Nolan, that's how you do it. And by Nolan casting Christian Bale... well, the rest is history.

5. Interstellar

Interstellar teaser poster
Nolan swung for the fence with Interstellar, a film that pushes the boundaries of what film can accomplish. And although he hit many home runs with the flick, there were a couple of swings and misses too along the way. If nothing else, it has us beyond excited to think about what this filmmaker is going to do now that his superhero movie career is behind him and he's free to, frankly, do whatever he wants.

4. Inception

Inception teaser poster
Nolan's Batman break movie was Inception and to this day it has fans marveling at the levels of mystery and mastery that was that cinematic Rubik's Cube!

3. The Prestige

The prestige movie poster
The Prestige suffered from what could have been a classic Hollywood calamity. It arrived around the same time as another period piece movie about magicians, But, The Illusionist had nothing on Nolan's The Prestige. The mystery, the powerhouse performances and a movie that had as many twists and turns as a magician's show still to this day leaves us breathless.

Beautiful Patrick Dempsey Looks Surprised

According to Deadline Hollywood, Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy, Enchanted) is in final negotiations to star in the third installment of the widely popular Bridget Jones's Diary franchise. Not a lot is known about the role Dempsey would play, but it wouldn't be a huge stretch to guess he may be playing a love interest to Bridget Jones herself considering Hugh Grant, who played the womanizing Daniel Cleaver, won't be returning.

While the screenplay for the third film is being kept secret, we do know Sharon Maguire – who directed Bridget Jones's Diary– will be returning to direct the highly anticipated third film. Colin Firth (Love Actually, The King's Speech) will also be returning as Mark Darcy, Bridget's on again/off again love interest. Fans of the books, written by Helen Fielding, needn't worry about Firth's character meeting his maker because the film, according to People, will take place before the events of Fielding's 2013 book, 'Mad About the Boy.'

Renee Zellweger (Jerry Maguire, Cinderella Man) will also reprise her role as the title character. The film is set to begin production October 2 in the UK and Universal will co-finance with Miramax and StudiCanal.

It's been rumored for a while, but Rachel McAdams has finally confirmed to The Wrap that she is joining Benedict Cumberbatch in the highly anticipated Marvel film, Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch is already playing Dr. Stephen Strange and will be joined in the film with Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo). Shooting is set to begin in November with Disney releasing the film on November 6, 2016 and will be directed by Scott Derrickson.

She'll next be seen in Spotlight along with Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers), Michael Keaton (Birdman), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), John Slattery (Mad Men) and Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games), a film about Boston Globe's "Spotlight" team and their coverage of the Massachusetts Catholic sex abuse scandal with a release date of November 6.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant Teaser Trailer - Beyond the Wall

Yep, these movies are still going strong!

The film is still running hot on Insurgent, and Divergent was only just released in 2014, so these babies are pouring out at a really fast pace. Just a year after the group goes beyond the wall, The Divergent Series: Ascendant will hit the big screen, and I'm pretty sure that's the final one.

But, back to this particular trailer. It is a teaser, so despite the fact it's almost two minutes long, you're going to get a lot of information on the first two movies leading up to events in Allegiant, before everyone runs up and over the wall and Tris (Shailene Woodley) winds up coming face to face with Jeff Daniels. I admit I didn't see that one coming.

Take a look at the trailer. Are you eager for this to come? As a sucker for young adult movies, I'll likely watch, even if I'll probably wait for it to hit on demand.

Starring pretty much the same group as the first two flicks, including Woodley, Theo James as Four, Zoë Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road), Miles Teller (Whiplash), Naomi Watts (Demolition), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars), Maggie Q, Jeff Daniels (Looper), Jonny Weston and Kate Winslet (Titanic).

Allegiant hits the box office March 18, 2016.

The 5th Wave Official Trailer with Chloe Moretz & Nick Robinson

It's a big day in the release of young adult fiction movie trailers.

While we were already familiar with what the world of The Divergent Series: Allegiant had to offer, The 5th Wave is new to movie watchers. The trailer had me when the plane dropped from the sky. That is a pretty frightening visual and scenes like that pull me in every time.

The cast is impressive, as well. Not only is it peppered with a top tier list of the younger crowd, including Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick Ass) and Nick Robinson (Jurassiac World), but with talented adults, as well, such as Liev Schrieber (Ray Donovan), Ron Livingston (Office Space) and Maria Bello (The Company Men).

The official description follows:

In the new film The 5th Wave, four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie (Chloë Grace Moretz) is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal 5th wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope - if she can only trust him.

The flick will hit theaters on January 15, 2016.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 released an utterly tearjerking look at what has come before and lies ahead for Katiss as this franchise draws to a close. For Prim.

Honestly alert: I haven't seen any of the movies to this point, although I read the books. Not having been blown away like the rest of the world, I just never tuned in.

So, when a mere 2:25 minute trailer can move me to tears based only upon what I remember from books I didn't particularly like? Well, movie fans, I think you're in for a heck of a treat.

There's no doubt this is going to be spectacular and that Jennifer Lawrence will give a performance to bring the house down.

Tickets for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 go on sale on October 1 for a November 20 release date. I honor your dedication, Hunger Games fans.

Ice Cube to Play Scrooge

There can never be enough Christmas Carol remakes, right?

Ice Cube

According to Deadline, Universal Pictures has picked up the script Humbug, written by Todd R. Jones and Early Richey Jones, and will star Ice Cube (Ride Along, Straight Outta Compton) in the lead role of Scrooge.

It doesn't come as a huge surprise to hear this film is a more contemporary retelling of the classic Charles Dickens' classic novel about a wealthy, yet bitter, old man named Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by the ghosts of Christmases past, present and future.

Ice Cube will also be producing the film alongside Jeff Kwatinetz with Todd R. Jones and Early Richey Jones co-producing as well.

The Perfect Guy Review: Too Good to be True?

$
0
0

There's no such thing as the perfect guy.

We all know the saying. If it seems too good to be true, well, then it probably is. But does that mean we stop hoping?

Perfect Guy

Granted, when we think we've found the perfect man and then discover his flaw, it's not usually that he's a crazy, obsessive, psychopath.

However, that's what happens to Leah, played by Sanaa Lathan (Contagion). She breaks up with her boyfriend Dave, played by Morris Chestnut, because he's not ready to settle down and have a family. Enter Michael Ealy's (Last Vegas) Carter, who swoops in at exactly the right time. It doesn't take long before he's swept her off her feet.

Ealy plays the role flawlessly. It would be hard for anyone not to fall for Carter's charm. While it was definitely over the top at times, enough that any real life person would start hearing alarm bells, it didn't stop me from being drawn to him. Knowing it was coming, it took a little too long to happen, but when that switch finally flipped, Ealy's transition was seamless.

Thankfully, once Leah saw that side of him, she did not go back to him. Too many times we've seen women fall for the "I've never done this before" or the "I swear it'll never happen again" lines and when it happens on screen, it's groan inducing. Leah is strong and confident and she stood her ground, even when her friends were pushing her to give him another chance.

The Perfect Guy is not a new concept. It's not innovative or shocking, but it is exactly what you expect it to be – an exciting, suspenseful thriller. Sure, it's full of tropes that will have you wanting to scream at the characters not to enter that abandoned parking garage or to call 911 instead of confronting the suspicious person, but that's all part of the fun of a movie like this.

All in all, if this looks like your type of movie, chances are you won't be disappointed. It's well acted and though it does start off a little slow, once it picks up it doesn't let off the gas. You'll find yourself rooting for Leah as she fights to regain control of her life. It also certainly doesn't hurt that the cast is easy on the eyes. I found this film to be fun and entertaining – not a bad way to spend an hour and forty minutes.

Point Break Trailer #2: This Is About Enlightenment

$
0
0

Call me a purist, but it's hard to look at this Point Break remake and think of it as anything other than what it is, despite its obvious attempts to grasp at some deeper meaning.

We're still looking at versions of Johnny Utah and Bodhi, but no longer under the guise of Keanu Reeves (John Wick) and Patrick Swayze. This time, Luke Bracey's Utah will be the FBI agent infiltrating Bodhi's gang of thieves raging against the machine and not only making a political stand, but giving back what they steal to...the masses?

I guess we'll see how that plays out. Bodhi also seems a little less charismatic and a bit more of a mystical type figure, who might see himself less as a bandit and more as a man of faith. I dunno.

This version also appears to be going for the grit. It's taking itself very seriously. While that's all well and good, it's not going to earn it a spot in the cult movie hall of fame and have viewers watching again and again, learning lines by heart.

Just like every movie about a tornado won't be Twister (no offense to Richard Armitrage and his plucky role in Into the Storm), most remakes fail to live up to the awesomeness that was the original, even if that which preceded it wasn't a cinematic masterpiece, but earned a place in viewers hearts over a period of time.

The Hive Review: Memento Meets Summer Camp Horror

$
0
0

Would life just be easier if all of humanity was converted into an army of mindless meat puppets, periodically controlled by a sentient, unseen hivemind?

Yeah, probably not so much.

The Hive, not quite a zombie movie (but closer to that than any other kind of existing horror-type), has an incredibly interesting premise. Unfortunately, the film doesn't quite live up to the promise of its synopsis.

The Hive Film Poster

The backstory of how this film wound up being distributed is itself interesting and unique. Originally screened at Fantastic Fest (an annual genre film festival in Austin specializing in horror, sc-fi and the like), The Hive (written and directed by newbie filmmaker David Yarovesky) was spotted by Nerdist's chief-nerd-in-charge Chris Hardwick. Hardwick was intrigued (rightly so!) and decided that The Hive would be his company's first foray into movie distribution – and the film is certainly worthy of that kind of high praise and attention.

The Hive focuses on its protagonist, Adam (Gabriel Basso, of Super 8), a counselor to hordes of rich little kids at Camp Yellow Jacket. Adam awakens in a cabin with no memory of who he is, how he got there – or why he has the doors and windows blocked off and why chaotic phrases and drawings are scribbled on the walls. As Adam starts to recall memories of the preceding several days, he begins to piece together his own life and what happened to his fellow counselors, best friend Clark (Jacob Zachar, of Greek), love interest Katie (Kathryn Prescott, of Finding Carter), and Clark's girlfriend Jess (Gabrielle Walsh).

The movie is clearly influenced by the Christopher Nolan film, Memento, in that Adam (and the audience) experience the full story in a non-linear fashion. This plot device works well within the "rules" of The Hive's universe.

Gabriel Basso was very good as our hero Adam. The role called for a decent amount of panic and emotional turmoil, and Basso's understated performance worked in his favor. Basso didn't seem like he was even acting at most points in the film – he just came across as a real teenager, with real teenage reactions, experiencing an unimaginable horror.

The supporting cast (particularly the three other teens played by Prescott, Zachar and Walsh) was also excellent. Zachar's Clark had impeccable comedic timing that often lightened the mood for the better, and Prescott brought life to an atypical, interesting horror movie love interest. The romance between Adam and Katie, which grounded the film and gave it shape, was lovely.

Walsh, for the brevity of her role, was the stand-out of the supporting cast, in my opinion. Her "possessed" performance, our first close-up view of the "villain" of the film, was flawless. Walsh's Jess was genuinely unnerving every time she was on screen.

The special effects, gore and make-up were similarly unnerving. This was a low-budget film, so the effectiveness of the visual horrors in The Hive is doubly impressive. With relatively little funding, Yarovesky managed to terrify me more than once in the film's running time.

So, you may be asking yourself, "But Caralynn, with such high praise, where is the bad?"

Well, here it is: "The bad" starts in the latter third of the film, once Adam pieces everything together and comes up with weirdly accurate "rules" for how the titular Hive (and the virus-ridden black vomit-goo by which it spreads itself) operates.

This last part of the film relies heavily on overly-expository dialogue. Exposition, a huge factor in horror movies, is usually fairly innocuous in moderation. However, Adam spends a huge portion of the film on his own, so his "talking to himself" is pretty much breaking the fourth wall and hand-holding the audience through what's going on.

The earlier part of the movie is excellent; I loved the suspenseful vibe as we attempt to figure out what precisely is going on and what the nature and origin of the hive-virus is. At some distinct point, though, Adam makes some pretty unbelievable (and not in a good way) cognitive leaps to figure out what's happening and how to counteract it.

The Hivemind was an original, creative, intriguing idea for a horror movie villain. I appreciated that the nature of the Hivemind itself was never fully articulated – but in the end, the movie (while very enjoyable) does not hold up to its great underlying idea.

The good news is: if this is the type of creativity that Yarovesky is capable of at the outset of his career, and this is what he can do with a low budget, I am extremely excited to see him develop as an established director in the horror genre.

Ernie Hudson will Appear in New Ghosterbusters Film

Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!

It looks like there are going to be more familiar faces in the new Ghostbusters film. An insider told The Hollywood Reporter that Ernie Hudson will be appearing in the film.

Ernie Hudson

Ernie Hudson made it no secret he was not particularly excited about an all female Ghostbusters film and was quoted as saying it "would be a bad idea," but later changed his tune when the cast was announced. It's unknown if Hudson will be reprising his role as Winston Zeddemore as Sony has not commented on the news.

The Paul Feig (Spy, Bridesmaids) directed film will be released July 22, 2016 and stars Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Melissa McCarthy (Identity Thief, Tammy) Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor, Snow White and the Huntsman).

Liam Neeson Sets Another Starring Role in The Commuter

Just a week after signing to star in an action flick with a humorous bent titled The Revenger, Liam Neeson (Taken) has signed on for yet another motion picture, this time a thriller.

Liam Neeson

StudioCanal and The Picture Company, Deadline reports, have tapped Neeson as the lead in their suspense thriller The Commuter, which will focus on Neeson's character, a businessman commuting home from work who will unwittingly becomes involved in a criminal conspiracy.

Of course, his involvement will put not only his life but those around him in a heap of danger.

That's territory with which Neeson has become very familiar, as he's successfully reinvented himself as an action hero of late, not only with the Taken film series, but with other movies such as Non-Stop and Run All Night.

Taken is also being reinvented with a prequel series for television on NBC. Neeson will not star.

If you want to see what all the Liam Neeson fuss is about, you can watch Non-Stop online right now. Why not? It's worth the effort!

A TIFF 2015 Sampler: One Movie Fanatic's Experience at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival

In recent years, the Toronto International Film Festival has become widely-known as a great indicator of what the upcoming year's awards circuit is going to look like. This year, Toronto's fortieth instance of the event, was no different. I can say with all certainty that many of the films that had their North American or Worldwide debuts at this festival will certainly be on the Oscar ballots early next year!

In the spirit of planning ahead, here's a quick rundown of what to expect from this particular film festival, as a non-industry attendee, if you plan on attending next year. Bear in mind that your mileage may vary!

TIFF 2015 Logo

1. Book your tickets asap, and if possible, snag a ticket package.

This one is pretty self-explanatory, I think. Tickets went on sale promptly at 9am Eastern on September 6th. I logged in promptly at 9am Eastern on September 6th, and was number 513 in the queue. Essentially every movie that had been remotely buzzed about was sold out ("off-sale," as the TIFF folks term it). Since I don't think it was physically possible for me to have accessed the queue earlier, next year's plan will be to cough up enough for a ticket package. This is particularly important if you're not local to Toronto (as I was not) and want to get the most out of your TIFF experience. I've been told that in years passed the online ticket-buying experience was not as traumatic, that there'd been more availability, and that the likely reason for the whiplash-fast selling out was due to this year's event being the festival's 40th anniversary. One fellow TIFF attendee told me that she'd been able to get tickets to eleven major releases the previous year, just by queuing up online.

2. If you can't, or choose not to, get a package, don't sweat it. You can still go online at 7am each morning of the festival and get newly released tickets.

File this one under "supposedly." This method did not work for us either. Again, your mileage may have varied, or the 40th anniversary may have just been much more crowded than in prior years. Our best option was rushing.

3. If all else fails, rush the films that are must-sees for you.

Bring comfortable footwear! You'll be standing for a while. And bring an umbrella – Toronto can be quite rainy, as many a destroyed shoe can attest. We managed to rush The Danish Girl, and got to see the post-film Q&A – totally worth it. We were waiting for about two hours, and when we got there, there was already a crowd of about 75 people ahead of us (some who had brought their own folding chairs and hot soup – clearly these people were TIFF professionals). Just note that the rush tickets are cash only, and that rushing premium showings comes at a higher ticket price (double the standard pricing – 40 Canadian Dollars for premium this year versus 20 Canadian Dollars for regular screenings). Have plenty of cash on you!

4. Look closely at your map of the venues. Learn the map. Internalize the map.

Most importantly, don't rely on the TIFF-provided map of the theaters. There are many, many theaters screening TIFF films, and they are spread out across Toronto. The map is most definitely not to scale. This led to an apparent 20 minute walk quickly being revealed as a 45 minute walk more than once, and cost us the opportunity to successfully rush a few different films. We missed out on The Lobster, which had a much larger rush line than we would have anticipated – and they wound up only letting in about 10 people from the 150+ rush line!

5. It is surprisingly easy to get up close and personal with your favorite celebs.

The red carpets for various films were astonishingly not packed, which I wouldn't have expected given how difficult purchasing tickets was this year. There was ample opportunity to see Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Hiddleston walking in for the I Saw The Light premiere, in particular. At the back exits of certain venues, it's also likely you'll see a star or two exiting after their movie finishes airing. We saw Elle Fanning leaving Princess of Wales theater immediately before a showing of The Danish Girl.

6. Stay for the Q&A's!

Particularly if you have a question – you actually have a good chance of being able to ask your question. More often than not, at least one person will ask a noteworthy/interesting question and you'll be glad you stayed to hear the response.

All in all, I highly recommend attending TIFF at least once in your movie-loving lifetime. You will certainly get into at least a handful of films, and even if you are relegated to what you consider "back-up" movies, the quality of the films at this festival is high enough that you won't be disappointed by most films that you see. The vibe is also fantastic: you are surrounded by a large group of fans who love movies as much as you do! Don't miss it!
