The weekend movie preview is "Supersized" this week with the arrival of Zack Snyder's reboot of the Superman story, Man of Steel. Also, look for the James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson and Danny McBride-starring end of the world comedy, This Is the End. Oh and we are too thrilled that finally Before Midnight is opening across the country. After being out in only a few markets, this stellar film is going national.

Man of Steel: Snyder took a risk by not telling the Superman story people expected him to... this is not a linear telling of how Clark Kent became Superman. As we stated in our Man of Steel review, the film is better for it. The story is imparted through flashbacks that lead up to an epic confrontation with General Zod. And that is the other thing that Snyder did right. Michael Shannon's General Zod is not driven by sheer vengeance like he was in Superman II. This time out, there is a method to his madness. And we predict... the audience will respond.

This Is the End: What happens when a group of Hollywood stars get together at James Franco's house for a bash and all hell breaks loose... literally! Rogen, Baruchel, McBride, Robinson and Hill have fun at their own personas' expense in this end of days comedy that manages not to skimp on the special effects or the laugh-out-loud moments. As we report in our This Is the End review, the chemistry between the leads comes through on every frame and their comic timing is electric. Who knew that hell could be so funny?

Before Midnight: The third film in the "Before" series landed in a few theaters two weeks ago, but today the film opens nationwide! Our Before Midnight review found it utterly perfect. Delpy and Hawke have taken their onscreen relationship to new heights and grounded it in a reality that is rarely seen in a film.

Also of note...

The Bling Ring is Sofia Coppola's true tale of a group of teenagers who rip off the rich and famous. It is only opening in a handful of theaters this week and Movie Fanatic was asked to hold our review until it opens nationwide next week. But, if you live near where it is playing... I can tell you this: It is sharp as nails and you've never seen Emma Watson like this before! Don't miss this The Bling Ring behind the scenes clip!
